  1. Birdcages in mid April? Looks like they're on HMRC! Thanks gumin't!
  2. The review in Hornby magazine says it runs nicely, on perfectly clean track.
  3. It wouldn't surprise me if they had been missed. It's not the sort of thing you normally have to check to see it's there.
  4. I know not all locomotives can have all features but you'd think pickups would be one you'd stick to... Especially since there are wires running across the draw bar anyway. Seems a very odd choice. Probably not hard to add some or a stay alive job on DCC, but for 700 plus notes that's a bit of a downer.
  5. Are those the Wellington brown birdcage coaches on the front cover? I was expecting something a lot lighter!
  6. To be fair I was already satisfied by the Arnold Brighton Belle reissue. But I'll go for a sunshine black N class. I notice that the sound fitted diesels are listed as available either sound or a standard model. But not the steam? Have I missed something?
  7. Even if Farish announced a light pacific I would still hold out for the Dapol model. They seem to be putting a lot of effort in to make it a flagship model. Might just be worth the wait! Not that Farish wouldn't do a good job based on their MN or N class... I mean, if they must...
  8. Instead of a rebuilt merchant navy I'd like to see them use the current chassis for an earlier series version. A series 1 or 2 would go nicely with some Dapol maunsell's. Seems odd to have a southern engine (correctly) in every livery but southern.
  9. If the rails/Dapol model is as good as the B4 then it should be a winner! The Hornby model looks nice, but they need to blacken the wheels. Did the Southern green version have a copper capped chimney? Not seen that before. Perhaps rails have time to tool a spark arrestor to one up the Hornby model... Not seen one on any rtr model yet.
  10. Another run of N gauge Brighton Belle's in N would be nice! Maybe with the warning panel like the latest 00 model.
  11. If they have the tooling... How about the old Triang clerestory roof coaches in the railroad range. Keep the kit bashers happy! Must be running out of Triang examples now...
  12. How about a green trunk wagon then? Or container D I think the proper designation is. That would be a good model for a proper golden arrow in steam days!
  13. Whilst I agree that UM models can scrub up well (working on 700 at the moment) I doubt that would take away from the Farish sales. I regularly see used UM locos selling on eBay for more than a new model that's in stock. I think people "new to N" are largely unaware of the company. And people starting a layout or returning to the hobby quite often gravitate towards a small GWR project. A Farish collett that can be found in a local model shop or in an online shop will inevitably outsell the UM model. I don't think N gauge needs another GWR model but it will no doubt happen.
  14. Yes, I am aware of these but... The Peco model is out of production so no threat from there. The UM model is not to the same standard a Farish model would be. Not knocking UM, I am a fan! Their pulling power and reliability is fantastic. But things like a DCC socket and alternative tenders are simply not available.
  15. Wouldn't surprise me to see yet another golden arrow train pack. This time with a 71 as the locomotive.
  16. The other possibility is a shrunken exclusive. Much like the prototype Deltic popping up in N as the research was done. USA tank maybe for for the Southern?
  17. Hornby have actually produced them in this livery, be it the now railroad range tooling. However with replacement bogies and a bit of detailing you'd be amazed how well they come up.Here's an example... https://www.hattons.co.uk/91599/Hornby_R1118coaches_U_Pack_of_3_Pullman_coaches_split_from_Southern_Belle_train_set_Pre_owned_diffe/StockDetail.aspx
  18. I would guess... Shrink ray... E4, desperately need a Southern tank engine! They've done a GWR, LNER, LMS and BR model. H1/2. It's very pretty... And would be a good seller in N. Collett goods. Amazed it hasn't been done yet! S&D 7F. Popular theme and plenty of suitable coaching stock available. S&DJR collectors club variant possible to. 2EPB? or MLV? Please Bachmann??? Totally new I would like to see some k type Pullman's... Would go nicely with the merchant navy and other Pacific's. Given the price of the old Farish ones on eBay and the way they are still used you'd think it was a no brainer! EDIT: To be clear... I would only imagine one maybe two tops.
  19. Was hoping for a O gauge B4 announcement. But would be interested to see a bogie bolster
  20. Just come across this randomly. Wow, just wow. What an impressive bit of engineering!
  21. Very useful Thanks for that! No it's a case of working out where to fit it all
  22. Thanks for that. Are you able to program the movement end points? Or are the two points maximum travel in each direction?
  23. Hello. I'm aware that some of the more high end decoders have the ability to control servos. But do they need a control box? Or is the movement and power taken directly from the function wires? I want to run a micro linear servo onboard a piece of rolling stock.
