  1. The side steps on one of mine are broken. What's the best glue to use on the cast frame? Can't send it back. Super glue doesn't seem to want to know on this stuff.
  2. The price increases and delays do not help N as a scale. I have been an avid N gauge modeller since about 1997. If I was to start again tomorrow I would model in 00. This is based on what is available in the shops, what's available second hand and the prices of the models. Its all very well saying you can fit so much more into the same space but you do need stuff to fill it and the money to pay for it... I do wonder how many new modellers are put off N based on a perceived limited range of models.
  3. Restaurant vehicles make more sense in N due to the availability to run longer trains on layouts. That said, some K type pullman's in N would open up a new range of coaches and let you drop one in in a train of maunsell's.
  4. I think it's a bit early to worry about Bachmann pulling away from N. Especially with this new three months notice policy. There could be a dozen new items in R&D and tooling, you just won't hear about them until they are nearly ready. The problem is until everything catches up to the new time scale there will be a news dead spot.
  5. Wow, not even a single relivery.
  6. One thing that's interesting... According the their website there are 386 items available from Bachmann, and 386 items available from Graham Farish. Perhaps N isn't quit as bleak as it appears.
  7. Looks like the secr c class is gone. Just the black ones left
  8. Are those the final wheels? Solid one's? In any event that will be the first "british" 0-4-0 in N I believe.
  9. I did wonder, two flangless axles hanging out on a curve might look odd.
  10. Doe anyone know if the rear truck will be fixed or able to swing?
  11. Good god! That's a hefty list! Tim plate O gauge, big ticket lner items, apt and a variety of other stuff. They certainly have balls... The 91 makes perfect sense to me. Over the last few years they have released special pretty power cars on their own for collectors who have snapped them up. Perhaps they will cycle through them again. Cavex have nothing to worry about if they have the superior model and they are at the moment the only people offering a complete train in any event...
  12. There's a 2mm 9f on here somewhere that has a forward and reverse gear selectable by DCC. Amazing little gadget.
  13. If they went for a full VR planning system that would be cool. Like the old virtual railway program they had but crossed with anyrail. You could move around the layout and see if you can reach bits before buying any materials
  14. Thought I missed one. Some odd choices... But Bachmann can't really claim the fully lined C class can't be done. Dapol lined out a terrier! But they tend to be repeated versions of 00 models so if anything I would expect the grey one
  15. We had the SDJR 4f, an intercity 08 and LMR 08. I can't think of another off the top of my head in the last couple of years.
  16. I always thought the original Hornby schools was good. Looks like the class it was supposed to be and the proportions were correct. The railroad version is even better now the motor has been moved up front. It has a few niceties like tender wheels from the full fat model and removable couplings. Dover in the RR range is the sweet spot before they started cutting back on the paint jobs for RR models
  17. What's the betting on a fully lined out C class as a collectors club special... Or a repeat of the 00 cc model in battle ship grey?
  18. Having had a look at the N gauge offerings from Bachmann I can honestly say they don't look as good as the tomix stuff. Pity they didn't do more, it ran beautifully.
  19. I wonder how many parts from the H could be used to make a start on a secr J class? Bogie, possibly the cab? A nice large tank engine for the southern.
  20. Well not long to go now... What are peoples predictions? Not pure fantasy island stuff, actual probable models. From a southern perspective... I'll go for a shrink ray E4 as most likely, there's a need for a decent size southern tank engine. Plus with the sonic 56xx farish may wish to complete with their own 0-6-2. Perhaps a shrunken Atlantic? New wheel arrangement for N and a well received model in 00? Outside chance... USA tank. I've seen other exclusive models reproduced in N. Like the deltic prototype.
  21. Are those not for 00? I personally really like the roxey disks but they don't do N. Not hard to make certainly, just observing that they have the part in the armoury... Why not use it.
