Now that I would very much like to see. Are you doing a thread on it?

    2. Jol Wilkinson

      Jol Wilkinson

No, but I'll do a thread on the test build when the time is right.

  2. Succesful test seesion with London Road over the weekend, apart from more signal servo problems.

      What are the problems..chattering?

Try using a battery to power them..

Not chattering, but apparent failure of one MERG Servo 4 (no response to switches or the MERG set up box although it did send the servos to the extreme end of travel), a servo on another board and one dead channel on a Heathcote board. The layout hadn't been set up fully and run since ExpoEM last year. So far a jury rig on the bench showed the "failed" MERG unit now worked okay, but I haven't got around to the others yet.

  3. Preparing for the York show. Have a set up session I three weeks to check and clean everything. Also hoping to finish two locos and some rolling stock in time.

Not long now to the York show. Am looking forward to it.

  4. Hooray, nearly finished lining out seven LNWR carriages. Just got to fix transfers, varnish, glaze, add roofs, bogies, etc. At least the end is in site and then on to the next kit.

      Site, site??? Surely SIGHT?

      Jol Wilkinson

Yes, well spotted. I'd been working on some web stuff too and obviously got confused - but what's new?

  5. Presently building a timber carriage cleaners platform. Can't find anty photos or drawings so I am inventing what I think the LNWR would have built.

  6. This hot weather making lining some carriages a problem, the paint drying out a bit fast in the bow pen!

  7. I suppose I had better get packing everything tommorrow ready to take the layout to Railex.

  8. Damn, broken my own rule not to get involved in debates which are "opinion" based!

No, not me, it's the others. I must try to ignore them.

  9. Watched the Red Nose show/event last night and reassessed my view on what "life's difficulties" really means.

  12. Almsot finished reorganising the workshop with some new shelving, storage boxes, engineers tool chest, etc.

  13. Listening to the Tedeschi Trucks Band "Midnight in Harlem". Brilliant!

  14. Had a good day working on the design for a new 4mm LNWR loco kit.

The Renown class (rebuilt from Jubilees). The Webb 2500 gallon tender will also be available to go with it

      LNWR lives on

Nice, according to the info built 1908 and lasted to 1931, another loco kit added to the desired list

  15. Why does everything take much longer to build than I expect?

Wait 'til you have to submit a Probate application. The Probate Registry is up to two months' behind with its work, and everything's backlogged :-(

  16. Whoopee, just got the laser cut bits I designed for the LNWR footbridge on London Road.

  17. Of on holiday tomorrow, so peace and quite for a few weeks.

Ivan, my excuse is advancing years and a keyboard where the keys seem to keep moving about. I don't know about anyone else.

  18. Wondering if the age of the internet has stopped people thinking for themselves, but rely on others to do it for them?

Is this a rhetorical question, or are

      Captain Kernow

I agree, but if absolutely everyone relied on others, then who's left to do the thinking??!!

  19. I'll be glad when the work on the layout is done, so I can get back to building some locos and carriages

  20. Just finished 21 feet of retaining wall, capping stones, buttresses, etc. Hooray!

  22. Laying ballast - not my favourite pastime.

BM, a couple that I am working on plus several items from another designer, but his work rate and priorities are a bit variable.

  24. Another supermarket carpark panel"ding" on the motor. Why are people so stupid/inconsiderate?

I tend to park as far away from the door as I can ( to avoid the trolley scrapers) and you still get some dunderheid parking right next to you in a near empty car park. SWMBO got a right good ding from a white car at her office, only one white car in the office but the person denies it. Should have kept the old landie unrestored, no-one would park next to that midden....

      Horsetan

I find older cars are better at resisting these things, particularly anything over 20 years old. They used a better grade of steel back then.

  25. is getting rather fed up with this cold weather. Make going up to the workshop a bit unpleasant.

Know the feeling - just plucking up motivation to get out and go to the garage to start ballasting again Jol...
