  1. Also the light clusters are different between the original HSTs and the later rebuilds
  2. was it not just after Euston Downside on the same side and crossed the lines in the opposite direction to the current Line X
  3. the first 2 coaches look fine, its just that back one thats sitting a bit odd on the inner corridor connection end. Is there something odd about how the body is sat on that bogie?
  4. That was what I thought too, but watching the video there was quite a number which looked like a single pane of opaque or frosted glass as is found in the air-conditioned Mark 2def toilet windows, but they were always First Class and Mark 3 coaches (I'm not familiar enough with the differences to spot whether they were 3b on a moving target and wasn't looking out for the tail lights at the time). see the example slightly to the right of centre https://www.flickr.com/photos/44232489@N02/7752605128/in/photolist-cP58pE-bUsL2E-bUsKQs-pwXMTR-ca7meY-rey2yF-qSgeW1-A4DZ3T-UyrPLK-cbJD8f-ebWDJE-P1vTfX-95EunY-VdGEPt-bm4H3g-dGmCKL-norzhe-pZjsQT-pmKwiX-qqR8U9-bUsLYJ-9xdYLP-atougW-ca7nmd-9vLTfc-atkQFn-bUsKLW-gJSsCJ-pofuKZ-dwyHEC-cXmvG9-qUtKRG-axigww-m1dHVo-rpsz2r-nuuHGm-dCwJAU-gMeKjU-bxQbEx-T9eT8c-ojLkF3-U9Wjny-bGThwa-qTWwx6-eS36SJ-qD9Zjm-Tbxi7v-rhorfz-dBeHd9-nhpLmi
  5. I've been watching some DVDs of the WCML in late 1980s and I've noticed a number of the 1st class coaches where one toilet window on the left hand end as you look at the coach seems to be a single pane of opaque glass unlike the more common arrangement where its split into a top and bottom half. I'm assuming that these were the Mk3 Pullman coaches. Was there a reason for the single pane of glass? was there a different toilet arrangement inside at that end?
  6. I think you probably want to take the windows/glazing out before trying to strip the paintwork
  7. I think the electrics were taken off at carlisle. I don't remember ever seeing electric locos being dragged round via Dumfries unlike drags further south.
  8. I've heard of a class 85 hauled sleeper being diverted down the Rat Hole line out of Euston. that must be pretty rare
  9. I think unfortunately thats around the ball-park of where ready-to-run locos are heading. Fairly bog-standard Class 37s and 47s are £140 at full retail price if not more for limited editions. £130 wouldn't put me off but I perhaps might not get quite so many of them!
  10. you've done a really good job on that and painting it up brings it to life
  11. the full thing looks good! I might be interested in a class 314 but I'd need to have all the parts available before I'd buy any. not really sure what I'd do with perfect cabs if the rest was missing!!
  12. there was a modern locos illustrated on the class 60s a while ago that you probably want to get a copy of
  13. that looks much more like it piranha230!! that Cab end looks much more convincing than the kits I've seen
  14. I was there and never thought to ... I kinda expected it to be widely distributed by Oxford Rail and be in the normal model press
  15. by June it looked like it was swapped though https://www.flickr.com/photos/68729621@N03/12434994813/in/photolist-jWQAJi-8MpmYo-e2FLzU-fyXEwd-E67nEo-hKk8gL I think that might've been the only one though ... and only briefly
  16. I'm struggling to think of the early repaints but I thought 87006, 87012 and 87018 were among the early ones in 1984 onwards. 87006 looks like it had the single arm pantograph in its battleship grey livery. 87012 looks similar and bingo ..... 87018 https://www.flickr.com/photos/tibshelf/10992049206/in/photolist-hKk8gL-cp1FWS-RpniN3-9wxVpN-m2Cb7a-8pSErj-bVF58j-aDeRqZ-bv5iZm-mvJnrd-a6EueR-eaer1v-BbyE6D-qqP5Uv-aUzsmH-bZAHLb-85KKRL-85P2Bi-a6xifC-gtJSSD-rz4fY2-q9zw1v-br3A8A-c9fW3L-9zzhyi-9vChLs-qGtdBU-pT4gHz-FHBV8r-rLbT5s-RoD9gT-hrjmWw-DXn45p-dM29KF-9zzjB2-7xwy5F-8KM9z3-8GSwLk-5dHNaE-9sAT87-96ziHG-oMyusm-q292P9-dga6M5-gtJ9RB-jWPTop-pY9NnH-8wBMDn-a5LXhs-qWiSJp
  17. I gathered that too, but cant see how personal preference can come into it. Same livery different number would be fine or even that number and name but make it Intercity Executive would be fine, but the same livery and number combination thats already been produced is just daft.
  18. I still think its stupid to release 87010 in exactly the same number and livery combination as the earlier Limby model
  19. I cant imagine it was the smoothest or best maintained of track either away out there!!
  20. Its now open although the 'official opening date' is as above
  21. but it has already been produced twice already in RTC red and blue livery by Bachmann. Once as a Rail Express limited edition and the other I think was by Modelzone. While the SLW one is undoubtedly to a higher standard, it could also have an effect on potential sales
  22. the last I heard was the regional rep ones were due September, but I dont know if thats slipped a little
  23. I cant think of ever seeing a photo of a Network Southeast liveried Class 47 on the Trans-Pennine services, but thats not to say it never happened. They did get up to Scotland and Inverness at times so must've got up there somehow!!
  24. they're still getting setup in the new premises by the sounds of it
  25. Have a look for some photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddymacphee/13799100305/in/photolist-n2nZLv https://www.flickr.com/photos/roddymacphee/14832649138/in/photolist-oAHcPY-oAH931
