  1. does the rubber sleeve keep the decover any cooler than tape? I'd have thought tape between the PCB and decoder would have kept it cooler than a surrounding rubber sleeve
  2. nothing could have short-circuited there metal to metal there could it? would a bit of electrical tape between the chip and the PCB make any difference?
  3. the same kind of masts have been used for the Chat Moss route between Liverpool and Manchester
  4. is it still there now? would the aerial view on Google maps show it? pretty sure it was still thee devoid of track for a long time after closure but haven't been past there in years
  5. Where do you stand with getting a replacement DCC chip too? If the loco was faulty as supplied and its labelled as 'DCC Ready' then I'd really expect Bachmann to either recall them, or replace any DCC chips that get fried through their faulty product.
  6. Oh dear!! That doesn't sound promising! Hope you get them sorted soon and its not widespread in that production run
  7. I think the first rake in that style was 1984 and it was generally only used on the Fort William to Mallaig line, normally steam-hauled during the summer and possibly stored at Bounds Green over the winter. From the following year the livery changed slightly to look like the Harburn Hobbies limited editions.
  8. ah yes, sorry I didn't notice that in the above post!
  9. a really fantastic looking layout here! right up my street for setting and rolling stock! are you planning on exhibiting it too? any bookings yet?
  10. I wouldn't have expected the secrecy if it was the earlier version of the 143/144 ... no other manufacturer is going to duplicate those classes to match the quality and price
  11. it's a bit difficult to judge interest in something like that. A few years ago who would have expected an APT-E in rtr?
  12. Are we getting a new class 142 at last? I'm assuming it's nor just the earlier 143/144 models with the bus seats interiors
  13. looks really interesting, I'd thought before it could be a good location to model with the variety of trains passing
  14. looking forward to finding out what you're working on when you can tell us Charlie

    Dapol Class 21/29

is there still little signs of progress on these yet? no early body shells to show?
  16. I'd wondered that myself. some of them have been quite tempting
  17. possibly, but there aren't too many limited editions that are 6 car packs at £600+. I wouldn't expect too many commissioners wanting to take that risk perhaps without significant deposits upfront
  18. I'm surprised if the blue pullmans were going to get another run produced that the reversed colour scheme wasn't produced at the same time. I wonder if that will ever be released now.
  19. I thought those track cleaners fried dcc chips actually - I certainly don't think they're compatible with dcc
  20. I do like having a loco and matching coaches available at the same time as collectors club items
  21. If you managed with those reading glasses before your eye might just go back to around the same in time. I think mine took around 6-9 months. One lasting thing I seem to have found is that my eyes seem more sensitive to light since ... so I spend more time with sunglasses on outside or when driving. yeah you've got a fabulous layout there ... I've spent a lot of time in the area there and you've really captured it well!
  22. Come to think about it wasn't there only 2 catalogue refurbished class 37s - large logo 37401 and the regional railways. These things seem to often get produced in at least 3s
  23. .... or they weren't stocking it in the first place
  24. Just found your thread. Hope the eye op went ok - I had a similar op a few years ago. It was knackering using just one eye while the other healed and was blurry and I went though several glasses prescriptions as the astigmatism from the op gradually returned to my pre-op prescription
  25. I'm surprised because I'd have thought that would limit the flexibility at Newcastle of being able to depart the station from either end or turn complete sets around when heading south
