  1. ah yes, sorry I didn't notice that in the above post!
  2. a really fantastic looking layout here! right up my street for setting and rolling stock! are you planning on exhibiting it too? any bookings yet?
  3. I wouldn't have expected the secrecy if it was the earlier version of the 143/144 ... no other manufacturer is going to duplicate those classes to match the quality and price
  4. it's a bit difficult to judge interest in something like that. A few years ago who would have expected an APT-E in rtr?
  5. Are we getting a new class 142 at last? I'm assuming it's nor just the earlier 143/144 models with the bus seats interiors
  6. looks really interesting, I'd thought before it could be a good location to model with the variety of trains passing
  7. looking forward to finding out what you're working on when you can tell us Charlie

    Dapol Class 21/29

is there still little signs of progress on these yet? no early body shells to show?
  9. I'd wondered that myself. some of them have been quite tempting
  10. possibly, but there aren't too many limited editions that are 6 car packs at £600+. I wouldn't expect too many commissioners wanting to take that risk perhaps without significant deposits upfront
  11. I'm surprised if the blue pullmans were going to get another run produced that the reversed colour scheme wasn't produced at the same time. I wonder if that will ever be released now.
  12. I thought those track cleaners fried dcc chips actually - I certainly don't think they're compatible with dcc
  13. I do like having a loco and matching coaches available at the same time as collectors club items
  14. If you managed with those reading glasses before your eye might just go back to around the same in time. I think mine took around 6-9 months. One lasting thing I seem to have found is that my eyes seem more sensitive to light since ... so I spend more time with sunglasses on outside or when driving. yeah you've got a fabulous layout there ... I've spent a lot of time in the area there and you've really captured it well!
  15. Come to think about it wasn't there only 2 catalogue refurbished class 37s - large logo 37401 and the regional railways. These things seem to often get produced in at least 3s
  16. .... or they weren't stocking it in the first place
  17. Just found your thread. Hope the eye op went ok - I had a similar op a few years ago. It was knackering using just one eye while the other healed and was blurry and I went though several glasses prescriptions as the astigmatism from the op gradually returned to my pre-op prescription
  18. I'm surprised because I'd have thought that would limit the flexibility at Newcastle of being able to depart the station from either end or turn complete sets around when heading south
  19. why is that? does that apply even to things like 91s and HSTs which would be lighter than most diesel locos?
  20. 15% is quite standard from a number of shops
  21. Did the RSO/RTO differ much from a standard SO though?
  22. Is a 2-car one not even more ideal for smaller layouts?
  23. Completely random question Charlie, but do you know if anyone has butchered any of your lovely Class 144 models to make a middle coach for a 3 car set? That could be an interesting conversion to see
  24. The Triang models were a bit before my time and I cant think what the pantograph on them was like. I remember the enormous ones on a Hornby Phoenix Class 86 with the sliding switch. Were the Lima Class 87s not capable of taking power off the pantograph too? I remember the initial models having a little slotted screw switch at the cab end of the pantograph which was missing on later models. I dont remember their pantographs looking too bad scale wise
  25. I'd expect they could probably be wired up enough to be able to release brakes on any unit being dragged in case of failure, but not to operate the power controls
