  1. not at all, thankfully just a light first coat so wont be too painful to sand out. good spot! I will soon be over taking your forum for most Hornby models reworked into yellow coaches at this rate
  2. Well as its too warm to do much in the way of models today a little update of my quest into all things yellow. 43062 and 975814 have both been given a second coat of railmatch sunshine yellow. Tiny blemish on the mk3 which will require a slight touch up but nothing major. There are a few marks on the coach from its battle with my first attempt at using 99% iso to strip it but its good enough for me. 062 will be getting its warning panel done next with the usual railmatch shade and hopefully will get started on the interior of the mk3. next into the booth was the NYA SGT support coach which is yet to get a running number as i have not decided 100% what combination im going for. I have also ordered some of the new style marker lights for 43062,013 and 014 which should arrive in a week or two and i have been looking at replacing the tail lights on the PCB with red/white LEDs to allow correct lighting on all 3 power cars. 013 and 014 are factory defect bodys with the squint branding on one side of the power car so i might try and T cut them off and replace them but if they are anything like the branding on 062 it will probably be two full repaints again!
  3. Already taken a punt at a set of Hornby VEP bogies. Will look at getting a set of those etches ordered as well, handy to have for the next UTU coach
  4. The VEP bogie frames don't look miles away from what is required. The other issue I'm having it trying to find something at will fit the Hachette Mk1 chassis which the model was converted from. MJT bogies looked the best option due to the method of attaching being a nut and bolt. Hornby class 73 bogies have a hump towards the center that results in the ride height being too high, apart from that the attachment while the same as the Hachette one is a smaller diameter and height so they clip just fall out the holes. if they had fitted my idea was to reduce the size of the molded spacer on the underside of the coach and remove the sanding equipment from them. Looking at pictures of the VEP bogie it might be the same issue as the 73 ones. did think about ordering the southern pride models ones but there are no pictures of them on the site so would be a shot in the dark to get another pair of bogies which again, might be no good
  5. Right a bit of a call for help. Really stuggling to find EMU mk6 power bogies for the UTU coach. Ordered ridgied frame and white metal sides but they are not a match. Cant find a 8'9 frame for the sides and im a bit stummped.
  6. got them both run in, superb runners out the box. A few bits came away from 022 obstacle deflectors and brake cylinder but both glued back on not problem. did note the lack of any glue marks on the cylinder so going to check the rest of them to save any trouble later on. Unfortunately the nose end step that was in the box is no longer in the box so recon that's a right off, thankfully shawplan do a pack of etched ones. other than that all good!
  7. well my two have been collected and just had them out the box so time to throw my few quids worth of review in. Packaging - box is build like the side of a house! would almost expect to see an O gauge one inside, loco held in its 'ice cube' surrounded by foam and the plastic protector for the outer box is a really nice touch. Loco- After seeing various accounts of locos arriving with various bits come off I wont lie, a bit of the hype for this had turned to dread of another possible class 66 shambles but thankfully this was very short lived. 55022 was first to get unboxed carefully lifting the loco from its packaging one nose end step had worked its way lose but that was it, all chains in place. One airhorn has a slight curve to it but not the end of the world. 55009 next and it was almost immaculate. The only thing I could fault was what looked like someone had brushed against one of the buffers while the paint was tacky but nothing that cant be hidden with a bit of weathering to simulate buffer grease. First thing that hits you is the weight of these shortly followed by WOW! the amount of detail on the underframe alone is breath taking! Not had a chance to run them yet but did spot that 55022 was missing the screws that hold the speaker in place so will need to try get something to stop that bouncing about with the bass these things are going to produce. Its also worth looking at the shape of the nose once you get over all the separately fitted bits as when compared to other class 55 models in this scale the shape has been replicated much closer to that of the real thing. One possible thing I noted and this is just me being really picky is 55009 comes with mostly 1E and 1S headcodes. while the loco is provided with 0Z55 and 1Z55 fitted, some other charter 1Z** ones could have been a good addition given this loco is modelled in modern mainline charter condition but I'm sure someone will create some new ones for those who want to get them. So to round up the review no one asked for, to me this has got to be one of the best RTR locos I have bought hands down and I'm very very happy with them. well done Accura team so as for this pair, all that remains is to add modern day drivers to them and repaint some of the roof blue, add cant rail lining and fit a high intensity headlight to 022....eventually
  8. Back to all things yellow and a simple renumber and livery update has turned into a full blown repaint, those Hornby blue bands on the original NMT are more hardy than they look! 43062 has been primed and first coat of sunshine yellow applied and conference coach 975814 has also been given a blast of the rail match paint which seems to give a much better pigment to it with the only bits needing a second coats being the areas I missed. unfortunately 062 has the old style exhaust arrangement meaning two of the new ETCS antennas will not be getting added but not a huge loss. A bit of variety between the three power cars is the way I see it! looking at the rest of the coaches to be done I have ordered two of the new mk3 TGS coaches as I was not a fan of how the lima tooling has the glazing as part of the roof. Not ideal when you want to punch a hole into one of them! Got Two Accurascale parcels to collect tomorrow so expect some Deltic spam in due course along with two sets of Hornby class 73 bogies to modify and try and fit under the hatchet Mk1 UTU conversion so plenty to be cracking on with
  9. Well i recon i can say im happy with that. 37099 conversion to 37175. This loco has been on the to model list for a very very long time as doing odd jobs on it is what ultimately set me off down the rabbit hole to the career im in now. In other news a yellow thing has arrived from Bachmann so next item on the bench will the a NVA coach so i can atleast run a short set ultrasonic test train before adding the SGT portions later in the year. It will also be my first time working with a 3d printed item of stock so should be intresting
  10. Rails have shipped 55009 48hr tracked royal mail delivery. No word on 022 but i recon it wont be too far behind
  11. Superb, will keep an eye out for them going on sale. in the mean time back to looking for that yellow and red van!
  12. just been having a read through of the support documents on the Accurascale website pending arrival of 55022 in the next day or so. I also have 55009 on order from rails and have a Loksound V4 decoder in a Bachmann deltic I'm looking to change over to the new model. Seen mention of EM2 and sugar cube speakers but can anyone point me in the direction of the correct ones to get as close a match to the sound quality and fitment to the factory sound? failing that or the V4 not playing ball with the new model it will be a new decoder next pay for it. Next job will be playing 50 shades of BR blue to bring it to its 2011 state with the center roof panels painted blue.
  13. All done and ready for varnish. Just the trumpets and vents on the roof left to go on once they arrive. Horn recess areas above the cab were done by marking off the area to be removed, few passes from a sharp blade and material removed with a 1mm wide chisel. A quick pass over the area to tidy it up with some tamiya extra thin glue and the roof was repainted black in the areas where sanding was done. Quite happy with it, just the chassis to give a quick service as its not been run for a while Suppose i better finish off the rest of the coaches for it now!
  14. Well its been a min... Got settled in to the new job now so slowly finding time to get on with the little trains again Pushing on with 175 started with the horn recess above the center windows. Bit of clean up still to do and replacement cab vents to make but its getting there. Only the boiler port to fill but i have misplaced the box of milliput.... typical!
  15. as mentioned replica railways, Hornby did replacement ones for the 31s they forgot to fit in the factory part number X6865
  16. what ever they pick lets hope its better than the ferry venture.... the trains might come with windows! I will show myself the door interestingly the borders route should not be too hard to put wires on as it was considered when rebuilding the route so in theory it should fit in with minimal effort
  17. Here is one I doubt would ever happen... OTP/Tamper or more realistically perhaps accuras first venture into the multi unit market? a lot of the first gen DMUS and almost all EMUS are fair game RTR
  18. aye that should protect it from the post office footie matches thats for sure!
  19. think its safe to say the postie will be getting jumped before they are even through the gate when my two are on the way, they look absolutely superb in Hornby mags video
  20. cant remember the name of those clips but I was after a set for a 37. Cardiff lamp mount or headboard mount springs to mind but had no luck finding any
  21. Lamp irons? There are a few people make brass ones which just require bending to shape. PH designs ones come with a bending template type thing so they might be your best option. That or if you can pick up a vitrains loco detailing bag for a 37 it comes with all variety's that where fitted to the locos
  22. thought something looked off with it, good spot! yeah that will be on the list, think I have some brass airhorns kicking about somewhere. Will need to figure out the best way to carve out the recess in the roof for them as well. Might have to go shopping for some new square knife blades I recon.
  23. so it might have been mentioned but anyway here we go. Bachmann do the metalair PCAs Accurascale do the VTG PCAs maybe time the Vee tank PCAs get some TLC....
