  1. Thanks for all the hard work in bringing back our escape from this increasingly odd world. As many have mentioned you don't realise the importance of something until it's not available anymore. well done and here is the future of rmweb
  2. I suspect it is probably related to the pick ups which I found are fragile on the terrier and easily deformed. As a test see if the locomotive runs when you only apply power to one pair of wheels you may find there are some that aren't supplying power to the motor consistently.
  3. http://6gshed.co.uk/lastdays.htm has a few photos and a description of how Lion reached Llandudno
  4. https://youtu.be/LiIhAGDe6Gs has Lion running on the North Wales Coast (about 5 minutes into the film).
  5. I emailed DCC concepts who advised that there is no motor map for coreless motors. I changed to a Lenz decoder which has this facility and it made the world of difference
  6. Which CV should be changed to support a coreless motor and to what value please. I have read the release notes but it doesn't provide details. Is it a case of switching off the back EMF? Many thanks for any advice you have.
  7. My locomotive touched down today. It's a beautiful model and runs well even after but a few moments of running in. I can't wait to have a proper play tomorrow!
  8. Just like here we have princesses riding in open wagons being pulled by 6201 (my daughter's favourite). Great fun
  9. Locomotion are sending out locomotives from today according to their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/2209981899035170/posts/4928885323811467/
  10. Thanks for posting it enabled me to direct a friend who had an issue with their pre order from another supplier to acquire a locomotive
  11. I paid the balance today, from the conversation I had it seems we should expect delivery in the coming 10 days Exciting stuff.
  12. For an authentic sound file it will be a case of trying to find a film of Hardwicke running on her own. There is an open university film on YouTube which has a tiny bit of Hardwicke, so presumably the sound will be with the BBC archives along with that for Rocket 150. I don't know how approachable the BBC are. Otherwise it would be asking the Bahamas locomotive society as the locomotive was steamed several times there, and I would expect she was filmed given the other examples on their website of days at Dinting.
  13. It is interesting why people will purchase a locomotive. For me Hardwicke is an iconic part of railway history and ran at Rainhill 150 where in all probability my love of railways began. I have an eclectic range of stock as a result. I am lucky a 20 year service award come through for me at the right time to put towards the purchase price. In my modelling I am a shake the box for locomotives but scenery I am happy to scratch build. It takes all sorts and I for one am glad that the locomotive is being produced.
  14. https://youtu.be/V58GxSAwG1Y is the new video published this evening
  15. I have a cmx wagon which I fill with goo gone which soaks into the corderoy material clipped to the underside. I was lucky in being able to purchase it second hand as they are rather expensive new. This keeps the track clean on my layout, but the layout does live in a centrally heated room which I am sure assists. The cmx is very heavy so it does need a powerful locomotive to pull it.
  16. The wagon load and tarpaulin do look the part. Thanks for the information on the source of the 'coal' as I have been on the lookout for something like this for some time. On the back of your photos I have placed an order for some.
  17. For me a bucket list locomotive, as i went to Rainhill 150 when i was very small and enjoyed a number of rides behind Lion when she was allowed out to play from Liverpool Museum. Looking back it is remarkable that the loco was restored for use, we were very lucky to see her in steam. 183 years old now. I wonder how many locomotives we are off from being able to recreate Rainhill 150 from ready to run products?
  18. Is the price on the blue grey porthole coach correct at £79.95, given that the LMS version list price is £56.95?
  19. Many thanks for the replies and diagram. I am consistently amazed at the knowledge of rmweb.co.uk
  20. many thanks. after searching all sorts of combinations this evening I have found the original version of photo https://railphotoprints.uk/p292472143/h2ad6af38 Garston is the location named but I thought Garston was only on the Cheshire Line rather than the Lnwr
  21. I came a great photo today of an AL05 in the 1960s but I am unsure where it might be but there is a headcode. Do any of you have any pearls of wisdom as to where it is and what the working was? https://www.pinterest.com/pin/623185667159003473/
  22. for the record. Thank you for suggesting that it was on YouTube I never thought of looking there. I don't own a record player so this is the first time I have heard the recording
  23. Ticket to ride was a great catalogue a really different format. I found it in a cabinet at school with a friend in the early 90s and we were allowed to keep it. I was amazed at the range of models and always fancied a 1000 with smoke but if course by then it never reappeared in the range. I got a 1980 one from the local recycling centre a couple of years ago. In side there is a record. Finally a bit more retro from Triang Railways the first ten years. You might even recognise the bridge the Princess is thundering across
