  1. Where do you recommend to park for the venue. We are up here for a family holiday. Regards
  2. For the concrete hard standing outside my mpd I would like to give it an oily finish in areas as per the prototype. Do you have any recommendations to help achieve this?
  3. Many thanks guys much appreciated for the information and advice. I am going to put on ebay on the next few days hopefully some one will be able to breath life into it.
  4. A GWR kit built King 6000 has come into my possession. I intend to sell it on as I don't believe it is in my capability to rescue it however I am sure some one will be able to! Does anyone know which manufacturer produced the locomotive. My guess would be Wills Finecast but I can't see any marks on the castings. The locomotive is white metal. The chassis is white metal with no bearings.
  5. Thanks for an excellent exhibition with a good mix of layouts and traders. I hope it was a success for the club and encouraging to see high number of families
  6. Non ionic surfactant release from Bachmann. Creates some foam but a lot less than normal!
  7. Lovely layout. I don't know if Tony Wright will build you any more locomotives after sucking him in with his a4, and then following up with a Duchess romping up the bank in fine style.
  8. I think it would be helpful to change the map font as I couldn't read it properly. It is a relief that I was not the only one. It would be good to have way finding for different isles or areas. I suspect that the ideal of having an app which could direct you around is some way off. Maybe be shopping and layout by themes of course this may cause more floor space to be required and drive a higher entrance fee
  9. Re the Bachmann scrum. There were bargains to be found. Got the Truro gwr signal box which retails for £59 bought for £20. It needs a bit of glue to rebuild one side of steps handrail but nothing some patience won't fix.
  10. Cheers. Clearly your layout is not signalled for bi di working Cheers. Clearly your layout is not signalled for bi di working Cheers. Clearly your layout is not signalled for bi di working Mind due reverse for a full rake over the junction is a good test of track work I have found. Great layout keep up the good work
  11. How does the little bod cope with the dcc controller? My daughter is the same age and is quite happy with an analogue controller but is foxed by the digitrax controller as she can't easily recall the sequence of buttons to press. I wonder if a touch screen would be more friendly as she is happy using a tablet device to play education games.
  12. An enjoyable event. It is very good value with a busy timetable and multiple sites to visit. Thanks to the organisers, those who were working today and of course the exhibitors for a great show
  13. Looking forward to attending the event. It definitely has a different flavour with the real world going past outside. Just hope it is not too hot!
  14. Re the replacement of 67s. The reliability of the 67s was not sufficient compared with the offering for the 68s. The 68s despite the turbo charger incidents have lived up to this promise so far. The acceleration characteristics of the 67 didn't match the 168s, so the locomotive hauled services had to have a longer journey time not ideal for the premier services that they were allocated. The 68s promised and have proved as being able to match or better a 168.
  15. You can now also run non aar locomotives with Chiltern slam door stock, 6 mk3 with dvt, top and tail 68s. This has been the formation since Thursday evening following a number of failures in the Chiltern pool
  16. A couple of suggestions for you. DVD - Merseyside memories number 2 - the loop and link electric railways of Merseyside - on line video. DVD - Merseyside memories number 8 - steam around Liverpool - on line video Book - an illustrated history of Liverpool's railways - Paul Anderson Book - merseyrail electrics - the inside story - T B Maund Hope this helps helps get your creative juices flowing!
  17. It was with a Chiltern driver when we were stuck at Banbury depot Junction due to a tree falling at harbury. We saw an up train running through the down relief and then crossing over at the depot junction, but the up train stopped at the signal referred to above. The driver on my train explained why it was confusing. In the following days I got it raised with the nr team. I agree about the move you referenced frustrating that it is not signalled and the lack of walking route. I don't think one is planned sadly
  18. Good I reported it 2 weeks ago following a conversation with a driver
  19. Simon did a visit to help the restoration of 80080 in the mid 80s, I used to have the annual that had an article about it.
  20. What is the current status of the Ashburton master plan, is it dead?
