Sumptuous too.

Have just discovered that down to the intricracies of the UEFA co-efficient system, a league two side is 91st and a Scottish second division side is 92nd. The Scottish one is easy - Glasgow Rangers - but the League 2 side? Step forward the mighty Pompey; ranked higher than the record title holders in Scotland!
What do you expect from a competition where the winner can come from a City where the winners where sometimes they're not even the best side.Liverpool 2005.Everton finished higher in the league that season.

I think that the Finching Sisters wouldn't be the only ones to need therapy if they saw it on Brent. I think Spams has got more chance than that lump. Not a beautiful Castle is it.
You should know Phil that BR black is not my favourite colour. I'll bet it's got a sweet chassis though.

Hope the back scene turns out nice Rob I might go down this road myself, don't forget to post photos once they are done.
I'm waiting to hear from Captain Kernow but I hear he's busy with the doubling of the track at Kemble. I could do the lining paper but how long can you keep mixed unused paste for I wonder.

Coventry's "pantomime" move to Northampton seems to be paying dividends as an entertaining 17 goals (5-4 and 4-4) have been scored in their first two "home" games. The pity is that barely more than 17 genuine Coventry City fans will have witnessed the entertainment.
Not quite true David. There was about a 1000 'home' fans there on Sunday. It will go along way in paying for the new proposed stadium.Not. !

A fabulous project Kris but have you abandoned Avonwick then.

I've had a prompt reply back from Art Printers concerning my bespoke backscene.A very reasonable £5 extra on top of their usual £10 inclusive of p/p for a 10 ft x 9'' scene.Photos need to be taken in portrait style with a 25% overlap and the more the better blend you get.Sounds promising.

Excellence is to be found in the realistic portrayal of ferns...
Devonshire Cordylines or Yucca's are realisticly found here. http://www.themodeltreeshop.co.uk/

Final few of the diverted Castle hauled 'Royal Duchy'.The stones I used in the foreground are talus from Woodland Scenics available in different sizes and four different colours.Mine are the buff.

Pempoul is such a beautifully executed layout.
How I agree and Gordon and Maggie are what I call modelling 'greats' in our hobby.Just been looking at some photos of Pempoul on Flickr and the only thing I have in common is an untidy workbench. I was going to post some more of my Castle but I need to have a lie down...
Have a look at his conifers.Stunning work. http://www.flickr.com/photos/themodelrailwayshow/8429436569/in/set-72157632647597095/

The idea of a CK inspired Brent background sounds like a good plan too.
I've got to ask him first. Incidently if you type Gordon Gravett into Google images you get one of our Captain Kernow come up.
Anyway back to some action and due to the engineering works trains have been diverted down the branch [?]. Augustus Snodgrass can't believe his eyes, as on a bank holiday too,a lovely Laira based Castle passes on the down 'Royal Duchy'.He's thinking he had one too many at The Packhorse and might be dreaming. What a joy for those spotters though....

whole sumptuous scenic presentation.
I'm not Gordon Gravett ! Anyway less talk and more action.I've ripped off the faded backscene and given the boards a light coat of primer to seal it.I'm going to do what I did before and put some lining paper on.I'm tempted to get a quote from the printers ID use http://www.art-printers.com/
to make a scene from Captain Kernows photos of the Brent area.If I ask him nicely I'm sure he'd retake them in glorious sunshine to make it more believable.

Yes you should. Your fiddleyard is in fact part of your layout, and it deserves the same treatment. With the new background it will blend in more, making the whole layout looking even better! Just my two cents.
Sierd Jan
(not suggesting the layout doesnt look quite fine as it is...)
Thanks Jan.Its a long time since you contributed,I thought I'd offended you.Yes I agree it needs sorting.

Back to the layout and I've been looking again at that faded backscene that overlooks my fiddleyard/storage sidings.Shall I replace it before the nights draw in or am I being a tad fussy considering where it's situated.I can get the ID backscene to carries on from the one I did in June. The old one will practically fall off [hopefully !].

Hello,
my name is Ralf, i'm from Germany and this is my first post at this forum, I know, my english is not very good but i'll try...
Now, i just bought a City of Bath, found it at Hattons while looking for something totally different and could not resist. She's a beauty, but i have the same problem here with removing the Chassis/Motor unit:
I unscrewed the two screws and even removed (without problems...) the gearbox plate but the chassis itself will not move. Is there something glued or clipped or do I have to remove the Tender-coupling or something like that?
Besides that, she runs fine but I like to give her some lubrication. I have absolutely no coaches, so i put some prussian ones behind. They are green too, you know...
Welcome to the forum Ralf.Fit the bufferbeam detail and cut off that hideous front coupling and the front end will be much improved.Like you say, she's a beauty.

what to do next......
hmmmmmmm
Regauge a couple of Hornby Granges to EM preferably in GWR livery..

Well the power of RMweb.I mentioned [moaned even] that I missed out on the initial batch of Hornbys SR bogie van.Well a very kind member of this parish,Olddudders, no less has come up trumps in the sense he's sent me his nearly finished Ratio kit for use on Brent.I bet there will be quite a few with the Hornby model coming out.I will add the door grab rails and other bits .Its a lovely kit and he's done a cracking job. I will have it running alongside my Hornby van C and the Bachmann PLV when its released.
A really nice gesture from Olddudders.

So, "Steam in St Blazey" it is then...
I actually think a few 45xx's would look at treat on this layout.[Ducks for cover !]

A Great Western wagon kit purchased. You kept that quiet.

There are lots of other permutations loco-wise before I'd consider an 8F although I do like the sound of a fish train.Of course I still want to model the LMS coaches seen on the Liverpool - Penzance cross country trains too.Short of coaching stock of all varieties though.
