  1. I know what you mean.Even if you buy the rch 5/7 plank wagon from Parkside and apply the Powside transfers it works out about the same. Its not rtr so you pay for individuality and not every layout has them.Nice though.

Hornby has taken a bashing recently but when they get it right doesn't it look great .An example with the Castle on the bank....

  2. I was saving that one Paul! It has one of my all time favourite photos of the B&W, a BWT next to a wall and a cottage garden in the foreground with deckchair.... That scene will be created on the model!

On page 23 of Peter Grays book 'Steam in Cornwall' theres a photo of 30585 with a very modellable cottage scene.Hellandbridge 1961.

  3. Thank you Rob - I'd already got the link for Brian's pics but the final one does confirm the tender livery thanks.

You could always rename her to this beauty http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Great-Western-Railway-GWR-No-3340-MARAZION-Steam-Loco-RP-Photocard-/370831182525?pt=UK_Collectables_Postcards_MJ&hash=item565742cabd

Taken at Brent of all places ! Very modellable.

  4. Here it is again - duly arrived on our dining room table this afternoon. Not tested as yet (will do that next week after I've collected something from Trelowarren St in Camborne ;) ). It has the closest engine tender coupling I have ever seen, must be pretty close to scale!  Provided I can find some plates it will be undergoing genetic modification to become 'Skylark' (3454) which was a Reading engine and the final survivor of the class - no smokebox door numberplate but it did have a shedplate and was probably in GW livery under the filth; it won't quite match my target period but it won't be far off so I could do a bit of time bending.

Nice photos of 3454 at Tyseley here http://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrt1077.htm and especially for Mike at 81D here  http://www.miac.org.uk/bulldogs.htm

  6. You can change the lamps? How are they fixed?

I've glued them and don't want to dislodge them.

Some excellent shots once more Robin.

Is 6814 due through sone on a local to Exeter piloted by 7804? ;)

    Cheers,

    Mark

It needs an major overhaul judging by the chassis.

Now, harnessing RMWeb's special powers, Mr Stationmaster has conjoured up a portal from 'Brent' to RailEx!

For several reasons its the only way you're see it at Railex.

  7. We've just spotted Peter Hazell that dodgy looking postman delivering a parcel.£7 postage on a tin of paint to that couple in the large house. That's the Royal Mail for you....

Incidently, word in the village is that the residents who live over yonder of the bank are miffed the landowner didn't upgrade their patch at the same time as the others. They've complained and we'll wait and see what develops.

  8.

    Poor Robin,

I'm not poor.I'm rich with enthusiasm for modelling Gods Wonderful Railway with all my mistakes in all their glory.

Looks like I'd better get on with checking those headlamp codes for 'someone' in order that he can get them posted someone ;)

(Should be carrying Class C lamps Rob)

It will be on a passenger express shortly and I'm not changing them around for a quick freight request. ;)

p.s. I don't suppose the GW have allocated a Manor at Brent that you could photograph? :)

    The most recent was posts 527 & 529 on page 22 . http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69664-a-nod-to-brent/page-22

    You 'liked' it Dave.
