Sorry Rob I seem to be pinching you thread.
81C
Not a problem.I'm hoping to have some more photos of the all new backscene in progress shortly.

I sense a very slight weakening in your defences re Large Prairies.
No idea how the current Hornby offering justifies an RRP of £99.99 though. A good second hand example perhaps as a basis to work on?
Maybe but that price has just justified what I said about vfm.A new tooling Bachmann prairie is £65.I will need a 51xx for banking duties though but the new Stars will take my pennies this year.
-
Not see one, all mine had Great Western on the tanks I've a couple with roundels, A bit of brake fluid to remove the Great Western and a set of HMRS pressfix will do the trick.

I'd thought as much.A model that's been around since the late 70s that only ever had two Great Western liveries.Poor show.

Here's mine (large prairie that is) on the early morning parcels.
Nice to see you picked a correct number from those based at Newton Abbot Alan.
-
Having seen the engineering shots in April I thought they [Bachmann] were close to release.

Has this ever been in a magazine? I can't recall seeing it
Paul R
It was in the Railway Modeller last year.If you read through this thread you'll find which issue it was as I can't remember.

A nice O gauge NA version on ebay here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/0-Gauge-GWR-Shunters-Truck-/271222509950?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f261f117e
No connection with seller.

Although I don't know the absolute prices, its that which bugs me most about both these models as I don't think they offer value for money.Having said that it has been shown by Westerner and Barry Ten they can be made better.Potential purchases by me will wait as I have four other loco purchases before I add these.
That Royal Mail King edition was originally £140 I think.
Checking the numbers of the ones mainly used for banking at NA shews mainly 51xx series locos used.

So Pinocchio is alive and well and living in SW Leics then.
All lies of course, but have you featured a Large Prairie on a "Nod to Brent" yet, as ten of the class were based at Newton Abbot in 1946?
Or is it a case of there is no point in trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, rather like the Hornby King?
Absolutely correct.Another long in the tooth offering from Hornby that was first released by Airfix when I was still at school.I don't have one but had forgot there were a few at NA late 40s.

Great new backscene!
Nothing better than the good old English Channel.
But he's made a good job of the sea colouring and texture.
Don't I wish.My sea is utter c**p and needs redoing.Desperately.Don't be fooled by Andy Y's photo in MI4.The sea was a lot of photoshop especially to make it shine !

Yes, I know, I know, but........ I don't think we should do anything more to encourage the Dartmouth Steam Railway in their loco naming policy... That 45XX looks ridiculous with the 'Warrior' nameplate on the smokebox.
Should have been 'Tinkerbelle'......
Thats something my late father would have said CK .He was a traditionalist when it came to GWR engines.Good for tourists who know no better.

I was thinking how nice it would be if the P & D commissioned Bachmann to release 'Warrior' as a special edition.I know the SVR did something with a Manor so its possible.Hornby would need to do 'Hercules' and 'Goliath' though.I'd buy them for the happy holiday memories in the area still to this day.

Have you seen these photos of your beloved BWTs here http://railway-photography.smugmug.com/SRSteam/LSWR-0298-Class-Beattie-Well/29932255_TpZ5hL#!i=2569265327&k=PtcxfmG&lb=1&s=L

Father's Day this Sunday and this year there will be no socks, novelty pint glasses or car cleaning kits. No, this year the family have put a contribution towards something nice from Lionheart. And no, Rob, it's not a WR loco! Hopefully photos at the weekend.
Its got to be that lovely 64xx tank surely. Its probably one of these though http://www.lionhearttrains.com/modeldetails.php?page=models&mid=2

Nice to have the old janner back.I wondered where you'd gone.

hey Rob, I know things happen slowly down Devon way but surely by now the hole in the roof of the barn should have been fixed.
Its been waiting years to be fixed but I doubt it will ever be done.I wonder how many of those Wills barns are on layouts up and down the country.
-
I think its a typo Chris.Being Southern it should be Hellandback.

I've just ripped off the faded backscene. It came away quite easily probably because I used spraymount to fix it instead of wallpaper paste on the newer types. Its been up a few years though.I'm tempted to use lining paper first before adding the new one.Any suggestions.
I'm going to need some better seamoss trees as the ones I planned on reusing are very brittle.Who's idea was doing this anyway.

Not madness and its good in a way to see good work being rewarded with a price to match.Wheres Coachman.I can't believe no bids on most of them.
