  1. My guess would be that the 7BA screws are needed to fit through some brass rod, so that the beams pivot on the rod, not on the threads. We didn't see any snow up here. (edit for spelling)

  3. Oh crikey! Steve, Please post a photo of your wonderful Castle. I can't take much more of these 'foreign' loco's and diseasals!
  4. Wonderful sentiments PGH. I've just had a look back at the photo in post one of NCB No. 24. There's so much character in that cared for loco, and not a patch of rust or limescale in sight. Perfect (edit for spelling)
  5. Take a photo of it next to a Hornby model and sent it to Hornby. Show them what a real model looks like! Stunning work as always Ken.
  6. Firstly, welcome back Kenton. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Now there's a good point. A peek at the Moderating Team page show the following: Mod 1: Last active Dec 08 2012 09:15 Mod 2: Last active Jun 11 2011 17:20 Mod 3: Last active Private (status updated Jan 01 2015, so presumably still active) Mod 4: Last active Today, 22:42 Mod 5: Last active Feb 05 2014 07:29 Mod 6: Last active Today, 22:37 Mods 1, 2, and 5 have been missing for a lot longer than Kenton was.
  7. That's a nice selection you have down there. Wiltshire isn't exactly short of breweries either. There are five within a half hour drive of my house.
  8. Yes, Swordfish, like most ales is better on draught. But at £1.50 a bottle (Tesco 4 for £6 offer) it's less that half the price of going to the pub 200 yards up the road. I'm a big fan of the Box Steam Brewery. Funnel Blower is my favourite of theirs, it's a superb porter with hints of vanilla. But all their ales are very drinkable.
  9. Today, I have mostly been re-stocking the beer shelf.
  10. I bought an 80 watt Antex iron before xmas and straight away wished I'd bought it a long time ago. The tip does oxidise faster than the 40 watt I was mostly using before. But for keeping the tip clean during sessions I use a metal pan scourer, rather than a wet sponge. That was another top tip for Jazz of this parish.
  11. Ah, so that's were I'm going wrong. I got bored yesterday so I drank more beer! Superb work as ever Allan.
  12. This little beauty ought to do me nicely over the next few days. The Hobgobin mini kegs are no where near as fizzy as the bottled. Produces a very nice pint.
  13. Did Kenton's disappearance happen around the same time as Boris's return?
  14. The second numberplate was a lot quicker. I've also added the GWR shed code to the front footstep, these we done using some old BR wagon transfers I had knocking about. Also added the buffer beam numbers. Wish I'd got the 1 on the front straight, but it shouldn't show too much especially once weathered.
  15. Right, well after a polite prod from Matt (Brian The Snail) I've got on with re-numbering the Pannier. Here's what I had. Please ignore the dust and bits picked up from the workbench. If I remember correctly it was IanWales who informed me that the centre of the fitted numberplates could be easily removed. And indeed they can be easily popped out with a blade. The glue holding the plate on took a bit of point with it so the whole centre was given a coat of black acrylic. Next a heavy coat of gloss varnish was used to fix the numbers from Martin Finney in place. And finally the moulded plastic border was picked out with Humbrol Gold. The result. Not perfect, but should be fine once it's weathered. And I now have a Swindon Pannier
  16. Nice to see that you're getting the hang of this 7mm malarkey. A photo of three kits all at different stages of completion, followed by the beginnings of another kit. Good man!
  17. Hi Rod, Always glad to be of help. I'm looking forward to seeing your BG.
  18. Can someone please tell the lovely Ellie Harrison that the sculpture on Countryfile looks like a gentleman sausage.

Somehow I think she might have already thought that. It was the 20th take that was shown..........due to corpsing.

  19. Hi Howard, Hopefully this photo of the underside of the JLTRT BG I built will be useful.
  20. One of the benefits of having an open fire. Just raid the coal bucket And the stress relief when smashing it down to a suitable size for wagon loads is rather handy. "Bloody Allan [sMASH] Downes! [sMASH]. Why can't I [sMASH] make buildings [sMASH] that bloody [sMASH] nice!!! [sMASH][sMASH][sMASH]"
  21. Chris, How many of the 500 can you fit on Cwn Bach?
  22. Why do I keep thinking that my 7mm Heljan class 37 would look good in EW&S livery?
