I have a 75 watt iron, which I find oxidises quickly and is a problem to keep clean. Any suggestions anybody?
I bought an 80 watt Antex iron before xmas and straight away wished I'd bought it a long time ago. The tip does oxidise faster than the 40 watt I was mostly using before.
But for keeping the tip clean during sessions I use a metal pan scourer, rather than a wet sponge. That was another top tip for Jazz of this parish.

Ah, so that's were I'm going wrong.
I got bored yesterday so I drank more beer!
Superb work as ever Allan.

Did Kenton's disappearance happen around the same time as Boris's return?

The second numberplate was a lot quicker. I've also added the GWR shed code to the front footstep, these we done using some old BR wagon transfers I had knocking about.
Also added the buffer beam numbers.
Wish I'd got the 1 on the front straight, but it shouldn't show too much especially once weathered.

Right, well after a polite prod from Matt (Brian The Snail) I've got on with re-numbering the Pannier.
Here's what I had. Please ignore the dust and bits picked up from the workbench.
If I remember correctly it was IanWales who informed me that the centre of the fitted numberplates could be easily removed. And indeed they can be easily popped out with a blade.
The glue holding the plate on took a bit of point with it so the whole centre was given a coat of black acrylic.
Next a heavy coat of gloss varnish was used to fix the numbers from Martin Finney in place.
And finally the moulded plastic border was picked out with Humbrol Gold.
The result. Not perfect, but should be fine once it's weathered. And I now have a Swindon Pannier

Looks like a couple of Prairie tanks to me.

Nice to see that you're getting the hang of this 7mm malarkey.
A photo of three kits all at different stages of completion, followed by the beginnings of another kit.
Good man!

Just bought a bag of Peco coal at £4.75.
I can remember when you could have bought half a ton for that !
Mind you, it came in grotty sacks and not a pretty plastic bag...
One of the benefits of having an open fire. Just raid the coal bucket
And the stress relief when smashing it down to a suitable size for wagon loads is rather handy.

As of today's ebay purchase.

You've spelt it wrong. Should be a S not a C.

Baldrick was turnips.
"Black Adder the Third: Dish and Dishonesty (#1.1)" (1987)
Blackadder: [baldrick is applying for Parliament] Minimum bribe level?
Baldrick: One turnip. Oh, hang on, I don't want to price myself out of the market.

Will all the problems I'm surprised Spams hasn't yet attempted to launch it into orbit!

Discs, green, undecided about yellow warning panel.
I was waiting eagerly for the JLTRT Class 22 kit, until I decided to change period.
They did look great in green with disks, the yellow panel spoiled them I think.

I think the Red LAbel stuff has something with a bit of extra bite to work better on steel
I use the green and yellow fluxes, both of them will rust anything steel quickly too.
The fumes from the yellow flux are particularly nasty, but it works superbly with the 100 degree solder.

Where's the Top Gear boys and a piano when you need them!

Probably just as well as I would bought everything and ended up driving home naked having sold my clothes in exchange for Bachmann or Kernow products......
You mean you wouldn't have sold the car as well?

I notice that what I thought would be a link to the video has just turned out to be an exercise in cutting and pasting. Why hasn't it turned blue, or why hasn't a still from the video appeared? Are there instructions anywhere? Curses on my IT skills!
Strangely it works when I try....

And I think the Cybermen may have control of Captain Kernow.
