  1. Yes, The louvres had adjustable shutters according to the source mentioned earlier. It seems reliable... No mention of them being adjustable in quarters, but the accompanying drawing shows one of the shutters halfway closed. The Parkside kit has these shutters as separate items.
  2. Nice. Does look you found something interesting. Guessing from the photo, it's title and , some googling these are the two wooden barges found in 2009 near Woolston on the Thornycroft site?
  3. A bloody nuisance, but even mandatory for me as an archaeologist (Sorry, ditched the hardhat for the moment. Stupid things tend to fall off when your digging and trying to see what you've uncovered.) but my colleague is wearing his!
  4. I did try to take over Brent a while back: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69664-a-nod-to-brent/page-419&do=findComment&comment=1885987
  5. About half of my armour kit stash is in the photograph... I tend to go overboard sometimes, as Robin found out a while ago.. But in my defense, I've been collecting kits since 1980!
  6. Don't say i didn't warn you! As to the Mink D, The second batch built to Diagram v9 was built with louvres. This is the diagram represented in the Parkside kit. (GWR Goods Wagons, A.G. Atkins et al ,2013, page 400)
  7. Don't go there.. There is no way back! But i can help you, I'm prepared to take the GWR kits off your hands.... Altruistic, that's me..
  8. Seems so: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/55122-mailcoach-gwr-monster-in-4mm/&do=findComment&comment=673283 And after that, it sold under the Mailcoach brand (got oubid for one on ebay recently), before being acquired by Coopercraft. I also tried to order some GWR Slaters coaches from Coopercraft once. They weren't being produced at the time, but I would be informed when they were available again . It's been five years now....
  9. GWR monster, Mailcoach kit, now in the Coopercraft range GWR mink D, Parkside Dundas kit. GWR Mogo van, Ratio kit. Unpainted , with the sides built the wrong side up!
  10. The totally bonkers collectors attitude......
  11. To get the right "Brent" feeling don't forget to include Rhino's. I might be able to help you with that....
  12. On their way to The Netherlands as we speak type. And perhaps I should order some more, before Hornby goes belly up...
  13. The first badge is probably a RAF sweetheart brooch: http://www.britishmilitarybadges.co.uk/product/h1a-38-royal-air-force-raf-sweetheart-brooch/
  14. Tin tack and rhino shop? Sorry, couldn't resist! Hat, coat, off to ANTB.....
  15. Look what arrived in my neck of the woods! Thought I'd do a quick comparison between the old and the new, recent railroad Brake 3rd (RH) vs new release Brake 3rd (RH): No prizes for guessing which is which...
  16. Well, see if I can get us kicked from this thread.... Schnelltriebwagen Bauart Koln,'Fliegende Hamburger', German prewar (1938) DMU
  17. Well, as to Geman period II (DRG) railways, I was always partial to this one: An 'Akku Triebwagen, System Wittfeld', Battery driven electrical unit, built 1909, from my (dwindling) German collection.
  18. In April 42, The GWR issued a directive which mentioned repainting: "all engines and tenders, with the exception of 'Kings' and 'Castles' will be painted black when they require repainting after repairs or building. No engines will be lined after they have been painted" So yes, a 61xx could very well have received an all black paint job, And as wartime record and photo's are few and far between, nobody will really be able to prove that 'your 61xx ' did not at one time carry this livery.... For more, see this post: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/32078-gw-unlined-wartime-black-grange-class/&do=findComment&comment=337557 Took a while before I could find the quote again. Also Bryan, T: The Great Western at War, 1995, pag. 147
  19. I like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Martin-Finney-GWR-4-4-0-Bulldog-Class-4mm-Scale-EM-Built-Etched-Brass-Loco-/141891208383?hash=item21096004bf:g:UCcAAOSwL7VWrMGq Would it be sacrilege to re-gauge this one to 00... ?
