  1. Your model produced a high and a low note when it sounded it's horn. Twin single tone produce only one note.
  2. A visit to Dublin twenty years ago revealed that many of the CIE 201 class were named after rivers in Ireland, in both Gaelic and English. Loads of locos and even some units in France carried names, which seemed mainly to be French cities, or towns, complete with badge or coat of arms in bright colours.
  3. One of my favourites. I managed one trip behind one, and one behind a C-C 7100 before both became freight only, then extinct. I used to like the green Maurienne liveried C-C 6500's.
  4. What happened to longer distance cross-country trains like those? Paddington-Hull, Hull-Brighton... Surely there's still a market? 🙄
  5. If anyone has built, or intends to build the above as an earlier loco using the cab sides with the larger, earlier cutouts behind the windows, I'd like to buy the unused sides with the smaller cutouts off you please.
  6. A third bearing in the centre of the axle, with the beam resting on the slots, serves to spread the load.
  7. Surely, living in France, every day? is a holiday? (hollow laughter). I have a French very good friend who lives near Lille. I well remember him saying to me, "If you buy a house in France, you'll have no more holidays, just go to the house and work". So far, apart from a few days here and there, he was right.🙄
  8. Out of interest, when you're using the walls in front of a stone wall, do you fix the uprights to the wall to brace them at all?
  9. Some sort of Harrier, Marsh or Montagu's? My neighbour has been bitten by a viper collecting large stones from my garden here in early August. Six days in hospital, two courses of anti-venom. His right ring finger is still swollen and heavily bruised.😳
  10. I was just about to explain when i realised who the post was from.🙂 Morning David.
  11. Bit of a basic beast compared to the later resin cab MMP version.
  12. Is yours the older "Post War Prototypes" model?
  13. First off, why's it double thickness? Second, get some glass cut to be a good fit and put it in place with Acrylic sealant. It won't yellow or scratch like perspex.
  14. Just found this thread. Superb modelling.
  15. Woodburners usually sell well on leBonCoin
  16. Thanks Rob. Missed both Kettering and Stoke this year. My duties as a carer don't give me much leeway. I'll try and contact him.
  17. Thanks Rob. The stove and the open sided brake standard.
  18. Does anybody know why was Ipswich shed closed so early in it's life? Yet there's always been a stabling/fuelling point there.
  19. At first glance the plans for BCS looked refreshingly light and airy. Zooming in, I see the planners have done the usual: the platforms are virtually underground.😒
  20. Rob, I've just seen your 3-D printed stuff on this thread. Is any of it available to buy?
