  1. York for me, so light and airy, pity it was spoilt when they put the knitting up. Adrian
  2. Not the last one, we'll miss your erudite postings. Adrian
  3. Torn between Hellifield, which in its day must have been an interesting location (unlike today where it seems to be a shadow of its former self), and Garsdale (England's most remote junction ?). I think it will be Garsdale. Adrian
  4. Or fire up a Linux machine and act very confused as to why their instructions don't work. Adrian
  5. There was a series of documentaries on the BBC a few years back on how landscapes evolved in various parts of the country. The Vale of Evesham is adjacent to the Cotswolds. I think this shows a team of Oxen being worked. Adrian
  6. I've been unable to work out how someone buying a second hand car on line is a hero. I concluded that it is just the latest round of language devaluation. Adrian
  7. My grandfather was in the TV rental business. As memory serves, he had two vans, one was a minivan, and the other one was something a bit bigger. I don't think it was a transit, but it would have been that sort of size. He sold up in the mid 70s, by then the rental market was dying, partly because TVs were getting much more reliable and partly because the costs were coming down making ownership more affordable. Adrian
  8. Why don't he moo ve it ? Adrian
  9. Why don't he moo ve it ? Adrian
  10. The umpire allowed the Easingwold line. I spent my first 16 years in Garforth, Dad's side of the family go back beyond the parish records. Adrian
  11. Looking at the back right of the photo, you might want to be careful come breakfast time. Adrian
  12. Aberford. Not just because it is in Gods Own County, but it was also a bit quirky. Adrian
  13. Bank clerk arranges gold robbery, gets arrested. Adrian
  14. What was the basis of the agreement ? Hedging their bets over a future reopening ? Adrian
  15. Nice touch with this one with the light coming out of the shed on to the line. Adrian
  16. I also have a vague recollection of "trade test films". Short documentary films that appeared during the day, handy for the TV repair industry testing the latest of the many repairs that they had to make, TVs were not very reliable back then. Adrian
  17. Brit and American visit German castle. Residents not welcoming.
  18. Yes, I meant in the real world. Given your usual attention to detail, I'd have thought that you'd want to get something like that right (assuming that the real world would have moved the tools in a tool van of some sort). Adrian
  19. Perhaps someone can help with this one. 40 mumble years ago, a family friend had a late 1930s Karrier lorry, possibly a Bantam (twin axle, 7.5T flat bed), with a registration somewhere in the West Riding (not sure if it was a county or town/city registation). He had to sell it, and it was last heard of in the Whalley Bridge area, but that was not long after it was sold. I've tried doing a web search, but I haven't come across any sign of it. Has anyone come across it ? Adrian
  20. Spotted at the 2016 Great Dorset Steam Fair Adrian
  21. Yes, if only because loose tools might be a problem when it is being moved. But otherwise, that is very nicely done. I must finish my two at some point. Adrian
  22. There's something about it that I can't quite put my finger on, but I don't think it is quite up to your usual standard. Adrian
  23. Good to hear that the dialect and traditional pronunciations are still in use. Adrian
