  1. Is that intended to be the end of the line ? If so, would a small sapling growing in the 4ft be a nice touch ? Adrian
  2. I've got a small job that includes soldering some steel wire, and the instructions advise the use of Carr's black flux. Looking at the instructions on the bottle (and the neutralising rinse), it looks as though the best way of using them is to borrow one of the workshops at Porton Down or Sellafield. As that isn't practical, what is the safest way to use the stuff ? Adrian
  3. Which are excellent (apart from stopping at nationalisation). Most of them were written by Charles Hadfield (the Charles of David & Charles). Adrian
  4. Which is why in some circles it is known as anti-social media. Adrian
  5. Two or three years back, I got talking to someone who had been ground crew out in Saudi, and he reckoned that they had a similar problem with the ground crew. In practical terms, the Brits did all the work whilst the locals amused themselves. Adrian
  6. No picture, but this struck me as being a bit odd. Looking out of the window yesterday, I saw a Blue Tit on the outside of a nest box, much the same as you'd see in the spring. Adrian
  7. There were a small number of Dutch (or possibly other neighbouring countries) barges working in the Humber area in the late 70s/early 80s. The low air draught coaster was also being seen in the same area at that time. Gainsborough was one destination, as there was a wharf upstream of the road bridge that wasn't accessible by the more traditional coaster. Adrian
  8. Hayling Island branch for me. Adrian
  9. I suspect that the same statement could be made of several other special interest magazines. Adrian
  10. There are three kind of jazz. Hot, cool, and "when does the music start" Adrian
  11. Lymington for me. I think it is the only branch in that area that I've travelled on. Adrian
  12. I think they had a small stand at Warley two-three years back. I was stopped by one of their staff whilst walking past, and they (unsuccessfully) tried to persuade me to sign up. Adrian
  13. Last time it happened to me, it was definitely a bang. Adrian
  14. Oddly enough, I did the same and found myself asking the same question regarding differing versions of issue 279. As for issue 280, an interesting read, and (as usual) well worth the wait. Adrian
  15. A second series is supposedly being planned. Adrian
  16. Looking at the picture in that line, just above the top door is a black square, which would be where a beam of some form would have stuck out. The outboard end of this would have been the point from items were hoisted or lowered. Adrian
  17. Several deserving candidates, but Hemyock always looks good when modelled, so Hemyock it is. Adrian
  18. I eat what ever sized chips are served up in the pub/chippy. But long chips need big spuds, and I prefer to buy big spuds so that I don't have to peel a dozen silly little things in order to get a decent helping of mash. Adrian
  19. Too many stations to choose from. However, Evercreech Junction, if only because of the TV programme. Adrian
  20. Is anyone else having problems getting into the Prusa Forum ? I've previously used it, but now when I try and login I don't get any error messages, but it only seems to recognize me for "Prints". I can browse the forum, but it tells me that I have to login to reply to any post, and there is no create new post button. If I click on registration, it gives me an option to log out. There doesn't appear to be a contact option. Adrian
  21. Two weeks running I've had problems getting large potatoes (which is what you'd need for chips). I'm sure that I remember something from early in the year (pre lockdown) about the weather causing problems with certain crops. Perhaps that could be it. Not sure if that's why I can't get refills of mixed herbs. Adrian
  22. The "putting a pig on a wall" thing crops up all over the country, I've heard of it happening in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. One explanation was that in times past, if you could convince the revenue that you were mad, you could get off paying taxes. Adrian
  23. You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment. Adrian
  24. I used to get update notifications for my NVidia card on a regular basis, but in order to download the update, I had to have an account with NVidia, which I don't have. The problem has now gone away as the card failed when it was 54 weeks old. Adrian
