  1. Looking at the picture in that line, just above the top door is a black square, which would be where a beam of some form would have stuck out. The outboard end of this would have been the point from items were hoisted or lowered. Adrian
  2. Several deserving candidates, but Hemyock always looks good when modelled, so Hemyock it is. Adrian
  3. I eat what ever sized chips are served up in the pub/chippy. But long chips need big spuds, and I prefer to buy big spuds so that I don't have to peel a dozen silly little things in order to get a decent helping of mash. Adrian
  4. Too many stations to choose from. However, Evercreech Junction, if only because of the TV programme. Adrian
  5. Is anyone else having problems getting into the Prusa Forum ? I've previously used it, but now when I try and login I don't get any error messages, but it only seems to recognize me for "Prints". I can browse the forum, but it tells me that I have to login to reply to any post, and there is no create new post button. If I click on registration, it gives me an option to log out. There doesn't appear to be a contact option. Adrian
  6. Two weeks running I've had problems getting large potatoes (which is what you'd need for chips). I'm sure that I remember something from early in the year (pre lockdown) about the weather causing problems with certain crops. Perhaps that could be it. Not sure if that's why I can't get refills of mixed herbs. Adrian
  7. The "putting a pig on a wall" thing crops up all over the country, I've heard of it happening in Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. One explanation was that in times past, if you could convince the revenue that you were mad, you could get off paying taxes. Adrian
  8. You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment. Adrian
  9. I used to get update notifications for my NVidia card on a regular basis, but in order to download the update, I had to have an account with NVidia, which I don't have. The problem has now gone away as the card failed when it was 54 weeks old. Adrian
  10. As I understand it, people only die once, but they have been known to marry more than once. Adrian
  11. You are Dionysius Lardner and I claim my 5 guineas. Adrian
  12. Ashchurch. Interesting junction, and a level crossing. Adrian
  13. If I get a call from a number I don't recognise, I pick up but don't say anything. Usually, after a moment the line goes dead. If it is a real person, they will speak. Every time this happens, I check the number online, and it always turns out to be a known dodgy number. Adrian
  14. Hopefully not related to the reduction in features. I've always had periodic emails from Fusion offering me a discount on a licence, but now I seem to be getting them on a weekly basis. Adrian
  15. As others have said, having a goods shed on a running line isn't practical. There were goods sheds which were on through lines, Lechlade on the Fairford branch being an example http://www.fairfordbranch.co.uk/Lechlade.htm But point work allowed access from either end, so there was no need to attempt to run a loco through the shed. Adrian
  16. And another documentary that springs to mind. Again, I don't remember it being repeated. Late 1973 / early 74 during the regular power cuts, a documentary about 4 hours long (not a good idea with the power cuts). Basically a geological history of the earth. Adrian
  17. Reminds me of a Land Rover I saw many years ago which had a section of RSJ bolted to the back (painted in black and yellow stripes), with a tow ball bolted to the other side. Looked like it was done as a stand off to add clearance for the rear door mounted spare wheel, but it wouldn't have been good for anyone who ran into it. Adrian
  18. Isn't there a copper one around the chimney ? Adrian
  19. And were so traumatised that you fled the country ? Adrian
  20. Another series that I don't remember repeated was (I think) called "The Engineers". Sometime back in the late 70s, probably BBC2. Half a dozen or so documentaries each one featuring a different aspect of engineering. Three that stick in the mind, one where the featured engineer also had a steam roller which he used to repair his drive, another one where they were developing a new type of airship and the third was the development of the electronic caliper. Adrian
  21. This one ? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397784/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_115 Adrian
  22. I think I went to one of those. Did he demonstrate the explosive effect of various gas/air combinations by using coloured milk bottles, and what happens when you set fire to a beer tray full of cotton wool soaked in liquid oxygen ? (don't try that at home). Adrian
  23. Bombard it with cake. HH will try to jump on the roof to catch the cake, and the stress will collapse the shed. Adrian
