  1. Interesting photo. Any ideas on its origin? Looks like a PO wagon. Marc
  2. Gauge O Guild Doncaster Show. Please be aware that we will be carrying a limited amount of stock at the up coming Gauge O Guild show at Doncaster, on the 11th of June. Therefore, if you specifically want something please let me know before Tuesday so I can have it ready for you to collect. This will avoid any disappointment. We will have the full range of Flippem Couplings and accessories in both 4mm and 7mm on the stand with a demonstration plank so you can see them inaction. Also, please note, this will be our only 7mm trading show between now and Christmas as we will be attending GuildEx Stafford with a small layout and will not be selling any of our products.
  3. Since my last post I have also found out that John Lovering used the Carbean Wharf to load clay produced at Wheal Martyn. Slater's did do a pre-painted kit for the wagon but they haven't done it of the last few years. So here's hoping one turns up on Ebay. Marc
  4. I believe it is one on the ones shipped to Australia! 🤣🤣 But seriously it looks very good. What wheel base and LOH did you settle for? Did you use the dimensions from the stone wagon? Marc
  5. How is the project going? I've started working on Carbean in S7 so I'm going to try to produce some in 7mm versions. I have found a set of dimensions for a CMR stone wagon of the same vintage and I was wondering if they were the same size? Marc
  6. I'm a bit further down the line with my research, thanks to the people a Wheal Martyn. I'm still playing with getting the track to match the drawing on Templot but that will come together shortly. I have found out the two main companies to use Carbean were "Parkyn and Peters and ECC post 1919, Not sure which part of ECC operated out of the wharf before 1919. Also other smaller companies used the wharf as well and they would have subcontracted carting out to the Likes of Toyne Carter, Hannan Samuel & Co or Par Harbour. So these wagons will be required at the least. As for coal coming up from the coast this one might be in the mix Marc
  7. I found these in an old copy of model railway constructor from 1947. Thought they may be of interest. Marc
  8. Just showed this to the wife. She said in can't be True as trains don't stop .......🤣
  9. Many years ago I drew the early version of the P5 out but I didn't do anything with it as I didn't want to slow the sales of the P4 or the standard P5. I might see if I can find the drawing and use up some of my HMRS transfers. I have just done some sprung axle guards for the P5. Marc
  10. I'm wondering if they were ex SDR./NER wagons sold off or back engineered. I'm not a big believer in coincidence. marc
  11. That's the one I was thinking of. As promised. Here is the GA and a photo look at the wagon at the left had side. I have a photo circ 1875 which shows them in SD and NER(CD) liveries in the same shot. Marc
  12. Interesting article. In one of the Bill Hudson PO wagon books there is a photo of a wagon built for Consett iron company which was built with this style of buffer. I will dig out the photo when I find the NER Drawing. Marc
  13. I was going to say there should be a scale filter on the home page. Sorry to hijack this thread a little longer but I have just sent off an etch for all the 4mm parts too able about 80% of my 7mm stock to be turned into 4mm. I've brakes rocking underframes etch. Marc
  14. In the NER coach and wagon book published by the NERA there is a GA of a SDR/NER(CD) coal/coke hopper with this buffer arrangement. From what I was told the were incorporated in to the P5/R2 diagrams, depending on coke raves, as they were dimensionally the same. I will see if I can get my hands on the book today. Marc
  15. Just got my hands on the article. The second photo I have seen before but the coke wagons are new to me. So am I correct in saying that your dimensions are 15ft OH, 4ft high sides and 7ft wide? 5plks on the ends and 4 on the sides? The end brakes are interesting ver NER but the Furness had them as well. Is there is a chance that they are Early SDR/NER P5's? A lot of them were sold out of service about the time of WW1. Marc
  16. The only photos I have ever seen of the 2 planks were loaded with general goods or slate. Marc
  17. I have change my mind as I have found a better prototype. Carbean Wharf its at the end of Goonbarrow branch. I think it has better potential. It works out a 8ft exactly with the fiddle yard coming out of the back. Locos for 1900-1914 would be either a GWR(Ex CMR) 1391 class or a GWR 1661 class both are small 0-6-0STs. only buildings are a yard crane, a loading bank and a small hut (not shown on the plan but shown in photos. Not sure what wagons yet as there are very few photo pre 1947. marc
  18. I'm trying to find some photos of Carbis Wharf circ 1900. I have a fare number of post 1947 photos but nothing earlier. Can anyone point me in the direction of any earlier photos. Also does anyone know what classes of locos would be used? Marc
  19. I have made some of my 7mm range available as bodies in HO, 4mm, S and G1 (1/32) I'm working on making the 4mm and G1 (1/32) as complete kits. You can find them at pregroupingrailways.com Marc
  20. Hi rob thanks for the tip Marc
  21. I would put my money on a sentinel going round the curve on its own but I think you are going to struggle with couplings and buffer lock. My Flippem couplings only go down to 3ft and that is pushing them to the limit. I would advise thinking again at the round d round if it was me. Marc
