  1. Nice work Arpleymodeller Looks good that exsctly how I remember seeing them still in their old Coal Sector livery and covered in rust. Made a start on of these my self but didn't have the right size Plasticard strips for the end ribs. Did you keep the originals and modify or replace completely?. Cheers Trailrage
  2. Hello Ncarter2 Used to see them all the time At places like Reading and DIdcot and BNS on Cross country services and Im pretty sure I had seen them on Euston to Holyhead trains at Wilsden Junction. Found a couple of Examples 43013 BNS https://www.flickr.com/photos/philsimpson1973/5379494840/in/photolist-9cnjp3-F7rVJm-oB8gWz-CrjXTx-oAccyj-egXKMX-pExeag-8AfjCa-pExig2-VogK68-pExeck-5z4rmM-f8oELE-owAQYy-RUgSBn-VtmqSH-VYpvR8-QZiEoY-hiY9Wb-guxorY-UMYdsH-rfQbk5-qBhi73-e8tq3F-qjJSCs-6X2MKt-esQEY8-qBhW9E-VQY9rr-6AauQP-efzPZm-qBeJaL-pEAkKp-UsaXsL-HNsrE1-mWdD9e-qjXJRZ-fcnXWA-9LNvo1-23XqmNB-ZnaDyt-PSrMsF-pExPhz-XjMZtK-qBeKwd-Ux3N7z-pExNMr-EtiHbG-qjX4s8-qjNMK5 43068 Euston https://www.flickr.com/photos/d210bob/32231322142/in/photolist-R7aX9J-f8FdDR-WYgWhu-a6p3Cb-bu1VKe-RYwn4Y-riLFfD-9rzeEd-NZmypp-NwLiPm-9No473-cHW69G-LyDovQ-e8WDNU-6X3iXJ-9C1oUa-boNnTb-7RnhnB-o1GXB5-bq4FYb-bn1r9y-dvkKyb-rjRYLb-dkuQCw-STJvR4-WeS7x9-UA3CJG-fbeaPH-6XGmCk-pPHpW8-dxUqNt-jMxNhr-5xcVuv-bPZser-dpz4xx-gNDwvf-87V195-a2ovnN-bGg1Qk-cWNBVU-pPaC3f-7bzqcV-WeUfB1-dvkKA9-eCvd28-fP5wyN-dsSnPN-5R3nCT-fSsDLJ-bmrj3Z 43123 Bangor https://www.flickr.com/photos/rowan826/3430646641/in/photolist-cRvVzU-6e9XJ2-5XHim8-52cPnD-fNK5eP-fP2JDG-bczMRk-a6fREZ-7YAiZB-a7qrdC-7TKgTT-7TNsqQ-82fgkr-bpNm43-6bmYhv-fAfWr7-jbyhF1-dVcLHR-9qz23n-xaPbvL-dZj5k6-aQfJbH-76cwXm-223doE5-pX65fo-8cQKfS-8VREcP-23tik8A-229L24C-YUkmWs-dqG2TA-8jo3Hk-9uS3a1-6SKvSH-f7iyPb-8YRBYR-jaqsq-cbDgvA-22G9pS6-6NfCsr-dcYfCh-6kJ3pt-RRu6JP-mSXT4N-dkfd5c-V2ekno-7XiDzU-cqHdDo-bs2dGS-rxDfcG Cheers Trailrage
  3. Ive replaced wheels on several of my Lima wagons and CCT vans by using the Hornby wheels fitted to the Lima axles. Although it works for code 75 00 track i cant tell if they are long enough for EM. Cheers Trailrage
  4. Just as an add on, came across Wimblesden Park layout on YouTube whilst browsing. This looks has the feel of the WCML in London and has a working washer and shed doors. OHL looks good with that crowded clostrophobic feel to it. Really loving this one and if you like AC Loco's the IC 83 on ECS is just how I remember them. Cheers Trailrage
  5. Bachmann sell the Y33 bogies from their Eurotwin Intermodals in packets marked up as Y25 https://www.track-shack.com/acatalog/Bachmann-36-038-Y25-Type-Bogies-Bachmann-36-038.html Cheers Trailrage
  6. What radius curves are you using ? As this may be part of the cause. When I first got mine it was when it was released and my layout used stupidly tight curves down to lack of space. I think they were 18"- "24" radius. Nowadays I use 3ft- 4ft radius so no longer an issue. Cheers Trailrage
  7. AHHHHHH Ravensclyffe !!!!!!!!!! I could not remember the name of that layout yesterday! A few more that for some reason my addled brain could not remember! Ravensclyffe Another awesome layout with lots of loverly OH locos and I don't think I've ever seen so many MGR's on one layout before. And that 14 coach APT is impressive. Coppell another such incredible layout and the only other 14 coach APT I have ever seen. Parrot Hall is looking like another super fine and realistic looking layout. And a few blasts from the past :- Hollybank Dept and Mossbank yard, Leaway park, New Annington, Carstairs and not forgetting Highgill and Law junction Cheers Trailrage Apollogies (for not remembering these) to those who are/ were involved with these incredibly impressive and inspiration layouts. It's been bugging me all day!
  8. Hello Richie Only found this thread earlier so hope any of this is helpfull. There are some really good OHLM layouts around some of my favourites are Oulton Road - sublime trackwork and beautiful scratchbuilt OHLM. Dagworth incredible impressive layout again with scratchbuilt OHLM. P4 New Street. P4newstreet.com Nearly everything scratchbuilt with amazing detail. As for Locos Depending whereabouts on the WCML you are planning on Class 08 both Bachmann and Hornby produce lovely models but the Hornby model is my favourite. Class 20 As good as the Lima Model was and the Hornby model is better the Bachmann model is superior. Class 25 Some people have cut the cab from the Hornby model and mated it to the Bachmann body . Good runner but cab shape issues ruin it some. Class 26 Heljan model is lovely and with some detailing is a gorgeous model. Class 27 Heljan again. Cab fornt windows are slightly the wrong shape being squared of in the corners instead of rounded ( with a bit of work can be corrected) but otherwise a cracking model. Class 33 Heljan again. Newer model is an improvement over the original although the cab windows still aren't perfect but still well worth it. Class 37 Bachmann is the obvious choice here (as ViTrains examples can fetch silly money) I have several and they are my prefered model (although Shawplan window frames make a huge improvement). Class 37 Vitrains made a slightly budget model but with some work still pass muster Class 40 Bachmann new model is gorgeous Class 44 Bachmann model is good although early versions laced an exhaust and nose seams. Class 45 Bachmann Model again best model peaks we have had. early models missing nose seam and some without Airtanks on the underframe. Class 46 Bachmann Model again as above. Class 47 Down to personal choice but as the Bachmann model is the best of whats currently available. Class 47 Vitrains made a good model but is no longer made like the 37. Class 50 Hornby models really needs the front wndows replaced to be more correct ( much like Bachmann's 37) and the wheels are underscale due to the scale gap between body and bogies. Class 56 Hornby's new model has its faults but is superior to the earlier model. Class 58 Heljan all the way with this Lovely model. Class 59 Hornby re motored Model is smoother than Lima's but only is basic for today's standard Class 59 Dapol model will no doubt be a good model (hopefully with no issues) Class 60 Hornby model set the standard although a bit late for you era Class 81 Liliput / Trix models can still be found second hand and make a really nice model when some work and detailing is done. Class 85 Bachmann's lovely model for this. Class 86 Hornby's model is still the best one for shape and really comes good with some work on it . Class 86 Heljan's just isn't worth it unless you can get one cheap as the body just has two many issues really. Shame as the Chassis is beautfiful. Class 90 Hornby with PH designs detail kit looks really good if you want to put the time in. Class 90 Bachmann model looks like a real head turner to me. Hope this may be of some use Cheers Trailrage
  9. Interesting. I've had a 9 coach Pendolino For several years and not had this issue. My issue was that I could only run it forward as because as soon as I ran it Motor pushing the thing would derail. For the love of me I couldn't figure out why so in the end purchased a second powered Chassis for the non motored end. I guess the weight of the train was to much for the Motorbogie and which may well have caused it to lift under power because as soon as I had fitted the second powered chassis it stopped doing it. Have you checked the actual chassis on its own to see if it still derails? it may give you a better understanding of why its doing it as the motor bogie is clipped in from the top so there is a possibility of something inside limiting he amount of bogie swing or that it is snagging on something. a smaal plastic burr on the bogie mount maybe. Annoyingly I was having the same issue as your having but with a DJM 71. in the end I relaid most of the track which seems to have cured it at least for the moment. hope it becomes clear soon as I'm intrigued as to why it is doing it. good luck. Cheers Trailrage
  10. KDG thanks for confirming that. I did remember reading it somewhere that 25mm axles were used which seems a shame really as they really do look gorgeous. I Just don't like how the body overhangs the bogies so. much. Might just have to wait until the Oxford Rail Air Braked version comes and compare, but I think its going to be difficult to pick a winner here though. Cheers Trailrage

  13. For those of us who gets frustrated with the Airfix Scorpion/Scimitar tank tracks. Who needs em! https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianews/5854778146/in/album-72157627008284776/ There are some incredible photos of MOD wagons for the modeller on this sight. Cheers Trailrage
  14. There really is some nice detailing on these wagons and I really hope I'm wrong as I would love a couple of these, but I'm still not convinced the bogies are wide enough. Compared to this photo on Brian Daniels FLickr site to the last photo above of MODA95534 shows what I mean. https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianews/5854224037/in/album-72157627008284776/ Cheers Trailrage
  15. mikesndbs I posted about this back in August but had no response so so assumed it was just me. Its strange how it the bogie wants to go straight on and lift of the track. I had no trouble at all when first purchased and it only started a short while after. as my track isn't ballasted yet I even tried relaying the track with some success, but the dam thing even derails on large radius Peco code 75 points. I've had no trouble with any of my Loco's wagons or coaches or even my Green 71 so am completely stumped to why its started doing it. a not much help Trailrage
  16. Hornby 14mm wheels £6.60 /www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004648IAU/ref=s9_acsd_zgift_hd_bw_bOdzB9_c_x_w?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-11&pf_rd_r=ZQ4HKKGWNY7C3X9EJA4J&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=de7cc822-b1a8-581f-82ed-92d4a4e64698&pf_rd_i=364162031
  17. Thank you for your replies all. To be honest I had forgot about Skits and the fact I also have the parts listed downloaded! I hadnt realised they do ifact make what they refer to as "BU5 Reversed pattern Continental buffers" which could have only been the Ringfelder type. Also came across chriswild's Blog which he has a coupe of the Dapol models he is modifying. Hehas used the Skits BU5 and they look like a massive improvement. Time to make an Skits order up methinks. Again thank you Trailrage
  18. Hello all Having trouble fnding a source of decent Replacement buffers for the Dapol VTG Telescopic Hood steel wagon. They are the reverse rectangular type I think made by Ringfelder also fitted to Megafrets and other large VTG, Tiphook and Cargowaggon Ferry vans. I had tried a set of A1 models Turned Brass body/Etched Stainless Steel heads but there not overly convincing. I believe Intercity models used to produce their own castings but at they are no longer available I'm not sure where else to look. Cheers Trailrage
  19. Hello Hugh These look really good and make my old paper made hood look bad! May I ask do these only fit the FTG / Kernow model or will they fit the Cambrian kit as well? Also whats the cost per hood? Regards Trailrage

Not sure if this ones been posted before but spotted on Brian Daniels Flickr site. https://www.flickr.com/photos/brianews/7593127990/in/album-72157627008284776/ Cheers Trailrage
  21. DEMU Update magazine summer 2002 issue 30 has a two page article by Nick Gurney on making these wagons. It also mentions some pictures in Rail Express 74 which has some pictures of the containers. Hope this helps Cheers Trailrage
  22. Although I don't personally model EM or P4, the bogie width on these is one of the things putting me off purchasing some as it just doesn't look right. . That along with the lack of CCU which is a shame. Not slating the wagon as it really does have some incredible detail looking at the photo's, just a personal choice. Cheers Trailrage
