  1. I wish I could enjoy my Life or Hobby but having found out today that there is a very real possibility of me loosing my job just before Christmas, With a family to support and a house to run that makes a bit difficult. As I said before sometimes people should think before telling them to well I wont say what i was thinking but you get the point. I really do like the Bachmann Mk2f coaches but after today everything's on hold. Stay happy all and lets keep it civil. Cheers Trailrage
  2. Nothing to do with a good moan and I wish people wouldn't make the assumption that everyone who doesn't want, need or cannot afford the latest model is doing so. And Yes I am aware there is a non DCC version. One of the problems I have is that MY financial situation doesn't give me enough disposable Income to spend that kind of money on a hobby that Iv'e doing for the best part of my life. I have a responsibilities which at the end of the day are far more important. For example If i had a choice to buy one of these or get something for my Son, my Son wins hands down. Its about prioritising. This doesn't mean the next person is in the same boat and that it could simply be they have enough older stock to cover their needs and are happy to do the required modelling to bring them up to their OWN set of standards. I for one have enough Airfix / Mainline MK2d coaches purchased when you could get them for around £1.50 - £3.50 each. My Dapol ones were £6.00 each and Lima Mk2 E/F Coaches were between £1.00 - £6.00. to satisfy my needs. Will they ever be as well detailed as the Bachmann coaches NO. Will the paint job by up to their standards NO. BUT I will enjoy making them look as good as I possibly can and with a budget that works for me.. Some people need to try and understand other peoples situation and leave them to it instead of just criticising their decision as It's not always clear what this may be. What it is clear though is the frustration for a lot of us. For those of you out there who can afford to buy, I hope you enjoy your purchases as they are indeed lovely looking models. I for one wont be buying unless I'm lucky enough to find one at a price that suits me. That's MY choice for the reasons said above. Regards Trailrage
  3. I know how you feel Redford73. There's no way in hell I could justify spending the amount need to replace my old stock. I'll be sticking with my old Airfix / Mailine / Dapol MK2 D's and my old Lima MK2 E/F coahes I rekon.
  4. Rugby part 2 and more Forgotten how much I miss those days. So much to see. The Railways just seem to sterile for me nowadays.
  5. Bit of something for everyone on this one. Steam Diesel & Electric Blue Loco's.
  6. Some more but in the 80's Rugby really must find a way of getting some of my pics on here
  7. No strictly photos I know but none the less interesting
  8. Definitely go for the upgrade as you will enjoy the end product far more than just having something straight out of a box and will be far more personal. For me personally there were several reasons did it. the first is that with the rising cost of stock I'm pretty much done buying new Loco's and stock (as trying to work to a budget as having a house and family to support money is tight) upgrading older stock also gives me satisfaction. For instance I would love to get a Bachmann 90 but unless I see one for silly money I will stick with the Hornby ones and detail as necessary. I have several older Lima Loco's that will get upgrades now as my son is old enough to understand I can share what I have with him too. The Lima 33 I did had a dead motor so purchased some Heljan spares from Howes and turned it into a run with anything loco. The sprues for the bogie frames and bogie towers, Fuel tanks, cab interiors can be fitted and will really make it look the part when finished. I think the hardest part was bending the cab front handrails. Good Luck with this Cheers Trailrage
  9. Wow Those carflats behind he 90 in the last photo have external trussrods. Surely they cant be conversions from LMS stock (Oxford Rail version) can they? Thought these had gone by the early 80's. Dont think the EX GWR or SR conversions lasted that long either? Interesting. CheersTrailrage
  10. Well spotted! watched this several times and never noticed this before. Looks like a DMS working with one of the singles (79900/79901) as there appears to be no corridor connection as you can see the building behind.
  11. I was looking at some options for this myself and found a Shawplan pack DP37-06 Class 37 marker lights surrounds for ex side indicator loco's which look like a good size. There a bit smaller than the Bachmann 85 light surrounds and a bit bigger than the Heljan 86 light surrounds so should do the job. I will most likely go down the plasticard route and drill out the holes then fix the surrounds before painting . Also as I'm unlikely to fit working lights I will most likely liquid glaze the holes. Rekon it should look good when finished Cheers Trailrage
  12. Hello timbowlits Tony Wright did an excellent write up of the A1 conversion using a Lima CLass 31 as the basis of the model (current Hornby one would have a better Motor) but using the Cab front windows and centre cab roof section / Horn grilles from a Hornby Class 47 in the Feb 2000 issue of BRM. Looks like a very clever conversion. Cheers Trailrage PS Just sent you a PM as well. Good luck
  13. Hello Carl BR you were right about the elbow pins. Both of mine have been in the box since being run in . It was only when renumbering one of them as 85006/85101 different number each side that I spotted a nice shiny little pin on the Table! I thought to myself I wonder what that is? as my Pantograph separated at the elbow! B****X I think the word I used was. I must have dropped that little half a dozen times trying to refit it and it was only when I was on the Kitchen floor with a torch when the wife walked in and said "I'm not even going to ask"! luckily I found it again and managed to refit. Just out of curiosity what size rod did you use to replace yours? I only ask as now there out having a run I'm sure I'm gonna loose another one. Cheers Trailrage
  14. Hello Hertiage Tim Thanks for putting this one up. My Beautifull wifey bought me one as a surprise. Lovely little model. Both of them! Muchos Gracias Trailrage
  15. Hello Satans's Goldfish Fox transfers for Grainflow Polybulk Transfers https://fox-transfers.co.uk/grainflow-polybulk-hopper-elements Cheers Trailrage
  16. I found that the B4 bogies fitted to my Regional Railways MK2 Coaches(Modelrail LTD Editions) are different from the B4 bogies fitted to my MK1 Coaches. The MK1 had a slightly taller platform where it mounts to the underside of the Chassis meaning it sat higher than the Commonwealth or BR1 bogied coaches. I also found that the B4 bogies on the MK2 were lower in height meaning they sat to low. I swapped the bogies over which improved the look but it seemed weird that they would do this. Cheers Trailrage
  17. Hello The Fataddaer I agree with you on the use of ECC Blue Paint. I used this on a couple of Roco HO Guage Single wagons re done as Cargo waggon singles and Jouef Van as an unbranded Cargo waggon HABFIS bogie ferry wagon several years ago. Its a bit light compared to the Heljan offering but with a little weathering looks OK . Cheers Trailrage
  18. Some very very nice weathering there. Something I think I'll have a go at on an old Dapol 7 plank to try out. Thanks for sharing
  19. Have a look at 5 BEL's excellent versions here converted from Hornby Pullmans http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96002-golden-arrow1951-pullmans/ Cheers Trailrage
  20. Bought 3 of these to see what can be done. First thing you notice is how plain the chassis and bogies look and how high it sits on those bogies. There is no fine detail such as pipe runs and some bits haven't even been moulded. So no bogie or chassis steps for the doors or handrails. The missing handrails kept drawing my eye to the front end where something just didn't look right. I thought it was just the missing Handrail or the fact the lower Light clusters or upper headlight looked not quite right, until I noticed that the cab roof overhang is way to short above the cab windows. Shame really otherwise it looks pretty good and the paint job is very well done.. The other issue is that they use a triangular screw to hold the loco to the tray, and again for the keeper plates (2 in each bogie ) which when removed gives you access to the bogie screw. Once loosened it will allow enough up/down and side to side flex to run over my Peco code 75 track. But only after you have also replaced the wheels. The wheels are plastic on metal axles and are pretty awful not running true so thought I would replace with some 14mm Romfords I have. The original axles are pretty skinny and run in slots inside the bogie (Hornby 4-VEP Style) so they need widening a touch. Plastic is pretty soft so I used a chisel blade which done the job. You have to remove the pin points if fitting this way as they will rub on the inside of the bogie frame unless you restrict side to side movement with axle washers. I left the height alone to start with as my 4 year old couldn't wait to run it. Nor could my 15 year old Godson! But lowering it will make a difference to how it looks as it sits on tip toes. I have ran it in double headed and top and tail mode after doing the bogie mods which improved the running but it needs a LOT of work adding the missing details to bring it up to match the current Bachmann model, but even though it has its faults its bloody good value for £12.99 and an excellent way to get a cheap 5 door 66 for the depot or to run as a dead loco. The best thing about this for me though is that for people starting out with little to no skills, what an excellent way to learn how to modify, super detail a loco and build your skills up. For this alone its worth its weight in Gold. Nice one Atlas Cheers Trailrage
  21. interesting photo this one https://www.flickr.com/photos/52554553@N06/10421496904/in/album-72157636831654216/

Did these wagons ever venture onto the southern region? Cheers Trailrage
  23. These wagons look gorgeous and I would love to have a couple of these. Just not sure I can justify such a large amount. Shall have to have a serious think about this. In the meantime a couple more shots of trains. https://www.flickr.com/photos/johndedman/8077823816/in/photolist-r92Ews-r7sGcX-e6W772-eYMTw2-8Auv2H-PHgzo-46T1fJ-zX1d2Q-46NUUe-bSvmAk-Qg63wT-diNXAq-pBDKy-7Ha9RT-bkLTVE-x2eXT-9yqPvg-5Radhg-4izXx4-odsYSV-ocNWS8-x72Ff8-oePavV-sEijhf-x8tup9-cVyWcf-7Fu38K https://www.flickr.com/photos/d1059/8599777045/in/photolist-r92Ews-r7sGcX-e6W772-eYMTw2-8Auv2H-PHgzo-46T1fJ-zX1d2Q-46NUUe-bSvmAk-Qg63wT-diNXAq-pBDKy-7Ha9RT-bkLTVE-x2eXT-9yqPvg-5Radhg-4izXx4-odsYSV-ocNWS8-x72Ff8-oePavV-sEijhf-x8tup9-cVyWcf-7Fu38K https://www.flickr.com/photos/lickeybanker/31675856383/in/photolist-r92Ews-r7sGcX-e6W772-eYMTw2-8Auv2H-PHgzo-46T1fJ-zX1d2Q-46NUUe-bSvmAk-Qg63wT-diNXAq-pBDKy-7Ha9RT-bkLTVE-x2eXT-9yqPvg-5Radhg-4izXx4-odsYSV-ocNWS8-x72Ff8-oePavV-sEijhf-x8tup9-cVyWcf-7Fu38K Cheers Trailrage
