  1. New phone ,better Camera if the moron behind it can figure out how it works! Some pics of each wagon. Ideally I would like to cut the lower section of the bodies but until I get enough Bogies for the Moment I will paint them black on the Yeoman ones and Black with ARC Mid Grey Headstock on THE ARC ones. The 4 ARC ones have the 2mm capping fitted. So look Taller. This was before I removed the Maskol on the two branded ones. PXA inner PXA outer PTA inner PTA outer with Hornby Bogies PXA With the Maskol re moved PTA with Maskol removed This was a bit harder than I thought as it was difficult to see exactly where it was going some of it came off easy some had to be scraped off causing some scratches in the paint and branding. Should be able to touch these up and I rekon with a bit of weathering they should look ok. PTA outer PTA inner PTA inner. This one I may well strip off the branding and fit the later style transfers as the model above but still in White PTA inner PTA outer Cheers Trailrage
  2. Finally getting round to doing more on the modified Lima PTA wagons. I originally made a mistake and did one of them as a PXA forgetting that those have parralell sides unlike the PTA which taper inwards at the bottom. Well my little boy decided he would like to have two like that! So there is two ARC PTA, and two PXA. I also dug out my Yeoman PTA for him as well giving him a mixed Rake of nine. 4 ARC, 2 Later Yeoman Grey and 3 in the earlier plain white with Blue Yeoman. Just need a set of Transfers for the white Yeoman branding on a blue background. Couldn't get any 1.5x2mm plastistruct forgetting top edge so settled on 2mm (need to get more as I ran out) which I used for the end Ribs. 1 of the ARC PTA is fitted with a pair of Hornby Y27 Bogies, the other a pair of Cast White metal Y27 Disc Brake Bogies modified. There close enough to the British Steel Axle Motion Bogies for a 7 year old to be happy. The 2 PXA will be fitted with Schilerien Bogies. When I can get some. For the Yeoman PTA I only have 3 pairs (the last 3 pairs of ex Appleby bogies left Cheers John at CCT fir those) of Axle Motion Bogies so I will have to have a look at what to do with those. More pics to follow Cheers Trailrage
  3. Came Across this interesting conversion of BYA 966050 while searching for inspiration on PTA tippers. Anyone have any idea on why it was done? For example Maintenance costs or lack of spare hoods or even cost of replacement Hood being Aluminium. Or even possibly the sliding Mechanism was damaged beyond repair. I couldn't see any other pics so are wondering if its either just a one off or Porotype for a rake of them. I did find what is said to be 966050 at Axiom Rail in 2015 without its hood so may well have been OOU for a while. 4. Hello Mark. I had to do this on a Parkside SR PMV. I'd had it in storage for quite a while and not only had the sides warped the floor had to. I used a piece of Steel which I believe was a weight from another model possibly a Coach of somesort and bolted it to the floor and then had the internal bracing. That must have been 15 years ago and its still going strong.. Cheers Trailrage

  6. Hello Paul 27. These kits are without doubt one of the easiest I've built. Go together very easy. Only problem I've had wit kits is when I didn't bother painting the inside of the kit. I found that when the paint dried it it caused a slight inward warping of the sides. Since then I've always painted the inside and never had the issue again. I also have 3 of the VEA kits two of which I've started. Well worth a go these. Cheers Trailrage
  7. Hello Max Legroom Thank you. Started of using a cotton bud dipped in IPA, although the Beer wasn't that effective so switched to Enamel thinners instead working gently. I agree about the Hornby weathering, to me it just looks like someone's partially melted a Chocolate bar and wiped it down the side! Cheers Trailrage
  8. Interesting. Was that a recent modification? The latest pic I can find of 25278 is 209 still carrying its Headlight. 25278 / D7628 Sybilla | Seen at Whitby Station 11th May 2019… | Flickr Cheers Trailrage
  9. Normally I hold it between my finger and you thumb and just give it a wiggle up and down side to side. As long as you gentle enough the broken buffer body should then just pop out. In terms of Pin vice and drill bits. HSS Bits are good if not a little expensive. SWMBO has just got me an Aldi Workfoce pinvice and Drillbit set. Think it was £5.99. Bits may not be the best or strongest but will definately do the job. Cheers Trailrage
  10. It doesn't I'm afraid. Never be afraid to ask for help. There's always something that can be learned. I still do. Heres a few pics that might help explain. 1- Buffer. The end part where the cocktail stick is pointing to locates in the Hole in the Bufferbeam. 2 - how the Buffers should look when located correctly. Hornby 56 with class 31 replacements. 3 - Bachmann 37 chassis ready to be modified. 4- measuring the stub to find what sized Drill bit will be needed 5 - the Diameter. I normally go 2mm do it creates an interference fit. That way you won't need to Glue them in. 6 - very carefully using just your fingers to twist as its plastic (although you may well need a pinvice to hold it in if its metal) as you will have better control. 7- fit the Buffers.
  11. Ah right. so the original Buffer body is still in the Bufferbeam. This will have to be removed so the new Buffers can be fitted. Ill take some pics which might help explain if your not sure. Cheers Trailrage
  12. How about this one http://biag.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/News-Item-Photos-HP-Biscuit-Tunnel-2-train.jpg
  13. were No1 and No2 the same? If so this pic may be of some use. Cheers Trailrage
  14. Wow that looks really good. Mine are definitely way to clean! Cheers Trailrage
  15. Interesting. Can you take a pic of the end of the Buffer which locates into the Bufferbeam and the holes in the Bufferbeam itself ? Never had any issue fitting these to my Hornby 56 but Its possible you may have to open out the hole on the Bufferbeam with a drill bit. It's a simple job though. Cheers Trailrage
  16. Lol just had to go and check to see if I had got the name wrong but nope all OK. These are 1/72 so perhaps a tad big but they will suffice for me. Cheers Trailrage
  17. Andypops if you could post some pics that would be great. I will havdvto have a look at those puppies. Love the Windsor Davies avatar! Cheers Trailrage
  18. Hello Paul. Thank you for that. I hadn't realised that was the case. looks like some research is in need of. Cheers Trailrage
  19. I really like the old Airfix Scorpion/ Scimitar kits I have one built as a Scorpion, one built as a Scimitar and was going to see If I could modify one into a Sabre. just hate the bloody awful tracks that have to be heat glued together. None of mine worked! Cheers Trailrage
  20. Thanks Grimleygrid I will definstely have to get some more chocks. Thinking of using some wide flossing wire for the straps absolutely love these wagons you guys have really outdone yourselves and others with the quality you've achieved. Keep up the amazing work all of you. Cheers Trailrage
  21. Had to rebuild one end with an MJT Rocking unit. And the HSA Wagons
  22. PTA'S on hold untill I can get some 1.5x2.0mm plastic strip to thicken out the top Ribs. Also managed to get 3xpairs of Appelby BSC Acle Motion Bigies from CCT to use. Today its Scrapwagons POA/SSA/HSA/SJA First ones are Cambrian Kits had 4 of these but two are in bits waiting repair after having an altercation with the floor! The other two desperately need new transfers. The rest are Bachmann Models. Last but not least is a Prototype SJA. This was converted from a Bachman MEA open. Theres also a few HSA's ex HEA or the scrap trains well. One of them was bought as a pair several years ago at an exhibition. The other two are std Bachman.
  23. Checked the wheels on mine after that. Had a few that were fitted the wrong way round but easy to sort. I did notice that a couple if then had sidefeames that were tilting inwards. Didnt know the sideframes are actually screwed to the bolster. What an excellent idea for diferent sideframes. Again should be an easy fix this. Also fitted some chocks that SWMBO told me to buy as I would only regret it if I didn't. She wasn't wrong. They are excellent little renditions. Just need to buckup the courage to weather them now and fit strapping. Vehicles are Oxford 1t LandRover FC Ambulance on my Hattons Wawells and a pair of Cararama Landrover LWB Ambulance on the Warflat. Have a couple of S&M FM432's to build for the other Warflat the more I look at these the more I realise how good they really are. LCheers Trailrage.
  24. My 4 beauties were delivered this morning. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this project. These are gorgeous. Last shot is with my Genesis kit.
