  1. Stripped down 3 more Bachman Tilcon JGA's today. All of these have the weights removed as it causes an enormous drag. I will eventually make some inner end slopes for the Wagons. Normally use Isoprol for stripping but ran out so purchased a Litre of Isopropanol of Amazon. I think it was last year. This stuff works brilliant as the Bodies were only in it for about an hour and a half. The Printing just lifted and paint brushed of with a Toothbrush. Its also an excellent degreaser for cleaning Motor components, Pickups and Wheels. Also added a Pic of the JGA in its first coat.
  2. Not done much recently. Just Dont seem to have the time. Managed a little work on some of my Bachmann RMC JGA Wagons. To add a bit of variety I've de - branded a couple by painting out the RMC with a Black Diamond one of which still needs a Black Horizontal patch doing, removed the end steps and Handrails on a couple more, painted the Axleboxes a mix of Yellow, EWS Maroon and DB Red and a first stage of Weathering using Humbrol Sand Wash neat or mixed with a little Matt White. Couldn't find me Stone Wash so made me own. DB Schenker Red JGA has had the Bufferbeams and Shanks painted Red (forgot to do it!) Just need to find some DB Transfers. For the VTG JGA I made some off white paint for the Body as I couldn't find anything suitable. I used a mix of Humbrol Matt White and Railmatch Intercity Fawn ! First coat has gone on but no pics until I've done the second. Also gotta find Transfers for these too as there will be at least 4 of them in a mixed Train. Also ran outta Thinners now so that's me done at least until I can Hopefully get to a Model shop this week. Cheers Trailrage.
  3. That looks Stunning. James Makin's an absolute Artist and has made something this good look even better! That weathering is sublime. Cheers Accurascale for producing such an amazing model and James for doing it Justice!
  4. Some pics of the underneath. I still haven't made up my mind if the Chassis I'm doing will be permeant or not. If it is, then I have 3 options for the underframe Tanks. 1 build up the box from Plasticard and add the half relief tanks and the smaller pipes and taps from Bachmann. 2 by some Bachmann ones and save a lot of Hassle. 3 Fit a Replacement Hornby Chassis if and when one comes up for sale.
  5. Made a little bit of progress on my HNRC conversion for my little boy of my old Wrenn 20 body. This is currently sitting on a heavily cut down Lima Chassis (to reduce the weight as it is non powered) and fitted with 14mm Romford Wheels (to reduce the friction of the originals). This was an early 3 pole motered Chassis that started life off under 20171 but never ran good at all. This will allow it to comfortably run with his Hornby GBRF pair. To Square Headlights rae drilled out A1 Models turned Brass versions, Wipac lights are Shawplan cast Whitemetal superglued yo an old Parkside Wagon Floor. This will first give them better depth and also allow them to be Glued to the body better. These still need to be cut out and shaped to profile. The Roof Ariel pod I think is Shawplan. Extended Range Fuel Tanks was knocked up from 5mm x 1mm Plastric Strip and some offcut from an old Bath Panel! Amazingly easy to glue with MEK.First one I made was to tall, to long and to wide! Not sure how I manged that. Second was way better but just need narrowing a tad. The two lower Bodyside grilles have been removed each side which is when I noticed Wrenn had missed a comete set!. Oh well nevermind as it doesnt even have Horngrilles on tje cab or Nose!. Those will be fun to make!.
  6. Lol. Having a fair bit of trouble with internet and Sausage fingers today!
  7. Stripped down a spare Lima 33 Body for a Rebuild and Repaint into DRS. This will be an unpowered Loco and as such I wanna try and do this as cheaply as I can but with as much detail as I can using some spare parts that I already have and some that I will need to get. Bogies (already Have), Side frames (if available), Bufferbeams (already have) & Fuel Tanks will be Heljan. I have some spare Heljan 33 Rao Roof pods that I Have thinned down to fit to the Roof. I May also purchase (again if available) Roof Grille, Handrails and Lamp Irons so it will at least have a slight consistency with my Heljan 33207. This will give me something to run with my Bachmann 37038 (waiting Replacement refurbished noses) and Bachman 20's (one of the cabs is in the Background). for this I want to do 33025 as the ends differ in that it still has the old Marker/Tail Lights at one end. Biggest Job will be making a Chassis for it (it currently sits on a modified Lima Chassis fitted with some spare Heljan Fuel Tanks) Haven't decided on what route to take regarding the Exhaust on this weather to fil and smooth or remove the original early Exhaust and fit a blanking piece. Decisions decisions! 9
  8. So gonna go with one of these versions instead. God knows what shade of Whiteish paint it is.
  9. Made a start on a couple of Wagon Projects for my littleboy. DBS Red JGA (ex RMC) which looks like a one off and a VTG JGA. Although as I had a Rake of Tilcon Hoppers that hadn't been run for years I used two of those. I didn't notice the two plates on the Solebar until after!. DB Red is Railmatch Enamel Hand brushed. I will have to add the three small Boxes on the Solebar o this and Add Levers from some fine Wire as they are not on the Models. VTG is Primer for main body colour and I have some Bachmann LTF Bogies that I was going to modify to fit and the replacement 3 spoke Brake Handwheels are originally from a Dapol VTG Telescopic Hood Steel Wagon just pushed in for now. I Kept looking at the VTG wagon as something just didn't look right to be a JGA and then it dawned on me the two plates on the Solebar gave it away its not! Its a cut down ex Freightliner HHA Coal Hopper!! Whoops. Ah well I will another prototype to Model! Pic of the VTG Wagon is my own. Pic of the DB one by Andrew Vass Linked from Flickr
  10. Turning my spare Body into a non powered run with any DRS Loco using a spare early example Chassis. Try as I might I've hacked away at the front of the Chassis bock to clear the Front lighting but I still cannot get the Dam thing to fit. Looks like removal of the front lighting may be the only way. Shame as I was hoping to keep it.
  11. Land Rover FC Ambulance now Transferred up. It didn't come with any tow hooks so compromised. Used a couple of old Lima plastic Cosmetic Screw Couplings cut down so just the hook is left. Pretty pleased how its come out. Also dug out the Atlas / Hornby 66 conversion I'm doing for my little boy after seeing DRS 66434 at Tilehurst on a diverted Tesco Express. Gave me a bit of inspiration. I had to adapt the Body to fit the Chassis by cutting the lower section of the Cab front off and filling back the thickness on the original light Clusters and a little of the Chassis for a snug fit. I also have some Precision Labels 3d printed light Clusters to fit and Paint up. Bodysides have been painted Precision Paints DRS Blue But I found it to dark so gave it a coat of Malcom Group Container Blue which looks better in my eyes. I have cut of the original Hornby Fuel tank and was going to fit the Atlas version but it looks to plain due to having no detail on it at all. With Bachmann now selling spares on their website I have ordered a couple to fit. Playing the waiting game now. Cheers Trailrage
  12. Class 68 Brake Disc Transfers these thing had a tendancy to twist when fitting but well worth the Hassle. Cheers Trailrage
  13. Spent my last day off in the Garage trying to play catch-up with a few projects and actually managed to do a few things. Land Rover FC Ambulance is now built and gloss varnished waiting for transfers. Deliberately didn't do a brilliant paint job on this as I wanted it to look used. Lima based Colas 37 I've just touched up the Paint in a couple of places, Lima based GBRF 50049 has now been primed ready for painting and fitted some Railtec Class 68 Brake disc Transfers to an early Dapol Model. Painted the wheels Silver first, then Glass coated. Man these were a pain in the proverbial. Not Railtecs fault more me being Ham-fisted. Really good when fitted though. More Pics to come. Cheers Trailrage
  14. Not done much modelling for a while now due to Work and life getting in the way. Pretty much all my projects are on hold due to needing to getting me House Roof repaired. Came across a little inspiration the otherdat when out for a ride with me littleboy. Popped into Theale Station for a snack and watch the Trains when I spotted a pile of new Wooden sleepers. Had some spare Peco ones so with some match sticks thought I'd give it a go. Still need painting though. Also came across an old JB Models Landrover Ambulance that was misding a part. Built this up for Littleman. Cheers Trailrage
  15. I was there with me Littleboy when it came into the station. Certainly made an impression. Personally I think it seems to suit the Class well. Arlington done a brilliant job with this. Just waiting for the cast Nameplates now. Cheers Trailrage
  16. Thanks for that. Its the first time I've ever seen a Pic of D9000 with the Headliight! Always wondered what it looked Like. Cheers Trailrage
  17. Few shots of one of my Hornby 86's Im slowly working on (as & when I get the Chance). Reworked as an 86/0. Liquid glazed the Headcode Box and needs some tidying up on tbe paint front. I have a Bachmann AMBR to fit to it as well. Undeframe has been competely rebuilt. All in all pretty happy so far. Cheers Trailrage
  18. I still only have the one Heljan 86 and its a First Gen Model picked up Second Hand from Howes for £50. I should have bought the other 3 they had at the time. I really Like the look of the new Model but having 10 Hornby ones as well that will all get detailed up I'm not sure I can Justify the cost. I know the Body has its issues but (and mins still got a few of the small bits missing) its such a lovely running Loco i decided to eave as is. Best thing I did was stick a Bachmann AMBR Pantograph on it using a spare Sommerfeldt stabilising Frame (also known as a Bike Frame though I'm not sure why) painted BR Coach Grey. Mahoosivley improves it in my eyes. Cheers Trailrage
  19. Purchased a Hornby 87001 from Hattons last Month for £99. Mighty good looking Loco until I literally snapped the Pantograph removing the Packaging. Cannot be bothered with the Fuss of retuning as the same thing will most likely happen again. Not massively surprised as I had read they were as strong as a new born kitten. There's something about this Loco that keeps drawing my eyes to it. The same thing happened when I got my First Bachmann 20. Again I think its just where I had become so accustom to the Lima Model that it made the new one look wrong! But the more I look at it the better it gets. Its such a Lovely looking Model and runs superb. Its's just a shame that Hornby never put the same amount effort into the Pantograph. Never mind I'm sure it will find use on the Roof of a coach for my NMT if I ever get round to building one! Cheers Trailrage
  20. Cheers for the heads up Patriot87003 . That'll be an order from me then. Regards Trailrage
  21. Dug out my first attempt at the Hurst BW Pan. I stopped when I realised the stabilising arm was either lost or Missing. Made a start on making a new one but for whatever reason, I never finished it.. Will have to replace the Fishing line used between the lower and upper arms as it seems to have stretched. If only I could get my Modelling head back as I seemed to have put it somewhere "safe" and forgotten where that is! The Body is an old unnumbered Hornby original InterCity liveried models that was done initially as 86434. When the Motor died I fitted a Lima 87 Chassis to it (since reused elsewhere due to a lima Motor going pop) to do a model of 86102 as I had taken a Photo of it at Stratford of all places on a TPO Train when it was routed as to turn the train so the coaches were correctly orientated. It was the last time I can Recall seeing an 86/1 in that condition so I new I had to Model It. One day it will get done but this time I will make use of Hornby 86 Bufferbeams cut from the Chassis and glued to the Body and Hornby 86 and Lima 87 underframe components all separately cut out and Mounted on a False Floor but will use Hornby Class 90 Bogie Mounts cut from a spare Chassis and the modern Can Motor Bogie and Trailing Bogie.
  22. Hello Pete. PM Sent. Cheers Trailrage
  23. Hello Pete. I'll see if I can dig out my Hurst Class 86-90 Base instruction sheets and get them scanned. I can then send you an electronic copy if you Like. Regards Trailrage
  24. Bachmann's Class 90 can legitimately be ran with the DBSO Model .
