  1. As long as the skewer is shorter than the cement silos you'll be ok, 6" is long enough, cut in half 2 for 1
  2. Something to consider, going by your track plan, is there going to be any need for point motors, as you'll be walking with the train, to switch industries. Not sure how your going to uncouple the cars, may be a BBQ skewer, which also doubles up as point control. Just think what you could buy with the money you saved, by not buying point motors, just saying!
  3. Wig wag goes on other side of road with cross buck on the other side, some photos in this site, look at UP locations in the list. http://www.trainweb.org/dansrailpix/masterlist.htm Look at Colton 9th and O Street
  4. Dan when it's dry, go over it with a damp cloth to take the powder off, then weather
  5. an earlier plan was this, this made the yard lead at the right end longer
  6. don't know if it would fit just guessed the size you had, it's 190" x 18"
  7. Snap, was playing around in Anyrail and came up with this, very similar to your plan!!!! with your plan, could you not move your team track around the corner and leave the other track for cabooses, most plans i've seen the caboose track is usually a loop, but not always.
  8. Why not make you cassette double track, then you could extend your grain track
  9. Have a look at this it may help http://www.housatonicrr.com/yard_des.html http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/11/t/200156.aspx Don't no why it's included the video again
  10. They usually have a shoving platform, there's one in all the other videos, not sure why there's not one on this train
  11. Have a look at BNSF yard at Centralia https://www.google.com/maps/@38.5420211,-89.1425077,3926m/data=!3m1!1e3 follow the tracks south and there's an industrial park, there some videos on Youtube
  12. If it was me, i'd do away with the fiddle yard and make it into a scenic yard with a small satellite shed( yard power, locals), i'd add a dummy mainline at both ends to connect with the rest of the world, single track would do. Then spread the industries out over the other two sides, with room for scenery, with a run round at the far end, spurs going both way, industry with 3-4 spots each, it's not the amount of industries, it's the number of spots it has that makes it interesting, have a look on google maps at industrial parks there's lots of industries that are not rail served. At the end of the day it's your layout, so it's what you want, but to me less is more. look at this https://thehillsline.com/ http://www.iaisrailfans.org/gallery/MJMGrimesLine
  13. Be aware, i ordered some OO brick from the chap in Greece, they measure out to O scale, was not a happy bunny
  14. Not sure what period your modelling,( if any) there a modern late 90's 60' grain hopper, not much good for cement.
  15. They tend to use 100T 2 bay hoppers for cement due to the weight of the product.
  16. must be photoshop you never see Roger that side of the layout!!!!!
  17. Ok, it just sounded as if you were waiting for a building coming from America, not a UK shop
