  1. is there a transition between the 5mm foam down to 3mm for all your spurs of the mainline, like the real railroads do!!!
  2. yep should be nearer 4',but didn't fancy cutting pins down, they don't look bad, there picture of 7' tall one on the web, i'll live with them
  3. that what i found at first, think mine are a tad taller at 21mm
  4. This morning little project was to build and install some Blue flag warning signs, there made out of a pin, square of platicard and a resized download from the web, once built and painted, i glued the sign on ,drilled a 2mm hole in the ties and added a 2x2x5mm magnet, works a treat!

  6. Already been there, had a Roundy-Roundy many moons ago, nothing got done, just set a train off and watched it, non of the industries got switched i got bored very quick and ripped it up, i help a friend with his British Roundy-Roundy at exhibitions, after half an hour i volunteer to go get the teas in, there just not for me.
  7. All major buildings have been built and painted, all tanks have either been built or modified and are in place, just need some fine weather to paint them, next to plan my overhead pipe runs and Airslide unloading, then everything needs weathering.
  8. My late Christmas presents to myself have landed, seeing i've two extension, i'll need more stock!!!!!
  9. https://www.thomasklimoski.com/ A couple of people to look at for ideas, as someone has already said ,maybe less industries (depend on period modelled) and more spots at those industries, i think a shortline would also enhance operations, but at the end of the day it's your layout and only you can decide, as Lance Mindheim said" less is more" his books a worth a read too.
  10. I hope you've not got any tight radius, with short couplings and those steps on the coaches, they may foul on the curves, looks like your going to have to use the supplied Kadee boxes fixed to the body, if so you could just move a #5 back a tad.
  11. Can never have enough bricks, you've done well obtaining Peco 83, or did you stash them before covid set in!!
  12. What a difference a day makes, only 24 hour....... Track ballasted, roads done and added first layer of ground cover, onto buildings next!
  13. Boards built, track wired, painted and tested, there maybe a slight change to my plan, regarding the buildings, still in the planning stage.
  14. If you used the base that come with the kit, what i do is cut a piece of 9mm ply to sit inside the building and glue it there, then when it's fitted on the portable layout, i drill a couple of hole up through the baseboard into the base of the building, then screw a couple of self tappers in. No need to move when transporting to exhibitions and if you need to move it(for the next layout) it's just a matter of cutting scenery around the bottom and un screwing.
  15. I've use it combined with the engineering office, they can make a nice build flat!
  16. Bit of a remodel, bigger grain unloading and adding a tank car unloading, another project for the New Year, when we go in lockdown again!!!!!
  17. And so it begins! Two photos taken two days apart, #5 spotting flat car for lifted track and #2 picking up the last segments of track, ground work levelled ready for new track!.
  18. In the days when i did OO (now HO) I had an engine with a similar problem, turn out to be the screws being a tad long and shorting on the bottom of the motor when tighten up, just nipped a bit of the screws and everything was ok.
