  1. Well the layout ran pretty well thankfully, with only a few minor issues. I have started a list of things to be done and hopefully a lot of these can be achieved before it's next outing at Howden in two weeks time. I now have a RTP Nissen Hut for the farm shop that will do for now and some instant hedging for the site. Thanks are due to Ian for the show invite and Robin & James on the DEMU stand, not only for coffee runs and operating help but for loading up. This was especially difficult due the Peugeot's rear door refusing to open! This made getting the layout into the car somewhat of trial. Many thanks guys! steve
  2. This show is a great opportunity to see a much wider spectrum of modelling than just UK outline. steve
  3. Tim Horn lasercut layout sign. steve
  4. I stand corrected. Cheers steve
  5. I can hear the ghost of Corporal Jones...”Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring! Don’t panic!” steve
  6. And here's what happens when a part finished layout is left lying about in the ERFG gang hut... Still work to be done but it's a giant leap forward for the project, thanks to the Group's efforts. steve
  7. Having seen Ian's motor in the flesh (steel?) I can confirm it is as smart as it looks...even in the rain. steve
  8. Ian, Hope the kitchen will have some eggs in for the breakfast fried egg rolls. Cheers! steve
  9. Come and say hello at Mansfield and see the current progress. steve
  10. Different market altogether. They are just toy display cupboard fodder and unlikely to run on any sort of layout. steve
  11. My first car was also an Avenger, a 1250. Had a 1500 later on, both 4 door saloons. steve
  12. I’m still exhibiting Duncan’s Mine 2 and a friend and I are in the planning stages of a bigger switching layout. Bad new about Model Junction, they were always my first port of call for US stuff. steve
  13. I was covering up the hole that is there on the model that isn’t there on the prototype. steve
  14. Here’s another contribution. I have been working on this trio on and off (mostly off!) for over 30 years. A lot of the work was done on DEMU demo stands. I built one door from scratch before I realised that all I needed to do to lose the indented printing, all I had to do was use the other side... steve
  15. I believe in honesty with my kids. When they say “Daddy, what will I be when I grow up ?” I tell them “Disappointed.” steve
  16. Pete Goss's World's End is a railway in a landscape. steve
  17. Just under 3 weeks to go. Lots of work being done on Rectory Farm Sidings in preparation. steve
  18. Does this count? Seen over my house a couple of weeks ago. steve
  19. I have used Micro Engineering Code 70 plain track and switches on 4 different US layouts and never had any problems with wheels hitting ties. Locos are from Athearn, Atlas, Bachmann and even IHC; cars from everywhere but I did replace everything with Atlas or Kadee metal wheels. steve
  20. All of the images shown certainly bring back memories, some of which I could have done without. However, that's yje way with memories... steve (Slough born & bred...sadly. On the plus side, I did escape.)
  21. You could take the motor out and use it as a dummy with a second powered one. They frequently ran in pairs. stevve
