URGENT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE COMING IN VIA THE A6 OR THE A427 Due to that wonderful organisation, Severn Trent Water, deciding that this weekend would be a good time to restart work on improving water pressure in our part of town, certain roads on the instructions will be closed. Apologies for this- this closure only went in today. So here is the UPDATED directions- From the A6 (both directions) and A427 Follow your respective route until you reach the roundabout where the A427 joins the A6 Market Harborough by-pass (2nd roundabout if you’re coming from Leicester; at the bottom of a hill if you’re coming in from the other routes). At the roundabout take the A4304 towards the town centre, passing across the Tesco roundabout, until you reach the first set of traffic lights. At the lights carry straight on, under the railway bridge and past the station to the next set of lights. At these lights, turn left over a little bridge (Aldi on your right) to the roundabout. Take the 2nd turn off the roundabout (you can't miss it, its got a ROAD CLOSED AHEAD sign in it). Follow this road passing the Cherry Tree public house. Just after the Cherry Tree, turn right into Rectory Lane. Follow Rectory Lane past the church on your left and you will see the venue on your left. I would suggest if you're coming in from the Kettering direction that you use the A14 and come into Harborough following the directions from J2. Basically, for those who know the area, the closure is under the Kettering Road railway bridge. Disgusting of Market Harborough

Its getting close now! For those who don't know where we are here are the directions to our little shindig Directions to Wrec-Rail By Road From A14 junction 2 Exit junction 2 and follow the A508 to Market Harborough, passing through Kelmarsh and Great Oxendon en route. Drop down the hill into Market Harborough, crossing straight over the roundabout as you enter the town. Just past the Jet garage on your right is a right turn (Signed Braybrooke). Take this right turn, passing Buildbase on your left. After 100 yards take the left turn into Scotland Street. Pass along Scotland Street, past the primary school on the left and at the next junction bear left. The venue will come up on your right hand side. From the A4304 (junction 20 of the M1) Follow the A4304 from J20 passing through Walcote, North Kilworth, Husbands Bosworth, Theddingworth and Lubenham. Drop down the hill into Market Harborough. At the roundabout at the bottom of the hill turn right (signed East Farndon) into Welland Park Road. Follow Welland Park Road, crossing over the next roundabout, to its end. At the traffic lights turn right into Northampton Road. Follow Northampton Road, past the Indian Restaurant on the left, until you reach a left turn (Signed Braybrooke). Then follow directions as per from the A14. By Rail Leave the station; pass across the forecourt and down the steps to the street. Cross the main road and take the wooden bridge into the Lidl supermarket car park. Cross the car park onto the roundabout and take the first exit. Follow this road round a corner until the Cherry Tree public house comes up on your right. Take the footpath (Church Lane) that runs alongside the pub, through the churchyard, and out into Rectory Lane. The venue will be in front of you. Those of you coming by train will be able to experience the changes made at Market Harborough station- no more sinewy curves: its all straightened out!! Finally, a final change to the cast......Mick Bryan sadly wont be able to make it, due to work commitments. So, rounding off our list of participants in our little bun struggle of June 29th, are 3 more layouts including a late entry.... First off is Sutton St Annes, Anthony Suttons rather fine 2mm terminus set, if I remember correctly, in the 90s in the north west. From what I've seen on the photos, SSA as Tony calls it, captures the time snd place very well. Secondly we have one of our regulars, Shaun Greet, debutting a new layout- Southgate DMU depot. Shaun tells me this will be a 'work in progress' with basically track, wiring and buildings.......oh and this is in OO Finally, a late addition is Cappenham Yard which is a layout aquired by George and Nobby from Stu Davies for use as a DCC test track. What theyve done to it is anybodies guess, but I'm sure it will complement Stus original efforts. Again its in OO. Okay then, youve had the runners and riders. We shall be listing them all together soon and giving directions for those yet to enjoy the WrecRail experience. For those coming by train, you can also experience the new straightened Market Harborough station!! Well, as young George has gone swanning off on his little boys boat, its beholden to me to announce the next few herberts to be in attendance on the 29th.....Yes its only a month away!! The next layout we can announce is really 2 layouts in one. Its George Ansells C&W Yard/Trodinnick Dries, which has to be seen to be believed! Its difficult to describe, so maybe you best come and see it in the flesh! Not only is George bringing his somewhat unique layout but he is also bringing his S kits stand too, completing our list of traders. What do S kits supply? Various whitemetal and brass bits and pieces ranging from wagon kits to forklifts and wheely bins! And finally, on the list of demo'ers is Paul Wade who tells me he'll be talking about buildings. As one of the culprits in the small but similar shunting plank category (Tudwick Road siding) , may I say how much I enjoyed yesterdays show, despite the cloud that the events at Stamford cast over us. I appreciate that my stuff may not be èverybodies cup of tea, but there were still plenty of people who did show an interest and stop for a chat. In fact, we were saying how quickly the day seemed to pass. So, well done to Malc, Andy (who didn't break anything this time!) and the rest of the Ely gang who, despite having a small membership, always punch way above their weight and turn out a splendid show! Apologies chaps and chapesses for a dearth of information on WrecRail V.....George hasnt been enjoying the best of health lately, and so I've taken the baton vis a vis layout announcements. The first of the runners and riders has now done a few exhibitions, winning awards at a few of them and generally showing what can be done in a small space in 2mm. Of course its none other than LYMEBROOK YARD, one of Steve Farmers magnificent creations. I would put a photo on here if I knew how but, if you go to the Layout section of this lovely site, you will see just what a splendid layout it is.. Mr Smith sir Welcome back into the fold! Shame that Cashmoors, or whatever it was called, had to perish- I really would have liked to see it but never managed to catch it! The new tour de force looks rather splendid so far- had an idea for a similar scheme but without the dairy building a while back, having an 08 as yard pilot shunting and tripping. Good to see Walbys Axiom being obeyed too (Walbys Axiom- to quote the legend that is Adrian Walby - "More than 2 points is an extravagance!").....Name-wise, may I suggest Velocity Crescent or Auriga Street - purely because I like the names. Anyway, look forward to seeing this at Cardiff in January- yes the Rollmeister wants me to attend too- so we can compare notes. Oh and don't forget WrecRail on June 29th this year. Had a good day today- went round to Steves to have a play on Hillport Goods. All I can say is that the pictures don't do the layout full justice- its a magnificent first step into O gauge! Not only that but its great fun to operate. One or two small niggling faults but shakedown sessions like today are there to point up any problems before unleashing a layout on the great wide world! The only definite booking it has so far is WrecRail 2020, but it will only be a matter of time before its out there! Miss it at your peril! Disgusting of Market Harborough

Carried all sorts of non-containered gubbinry, e.g. agricultural machinery fron Malmesbury in that lines final years, and various Army bits and pieces ( Land Rovers, small trailers etc) to name but two uses. Also used as runner wagons for bogie bolster wagons with overhanging steel loads. Some of the steel bodied versions were permanently coupled and formed into twin bolster sets for carrying steel bar from Brymbo steelworks amongst other places! Disgusting of Market Harborough
