  1. 90 quid as it is 60 quid per hour They had trouble removing the broekn drop link it seems. Not cheap but I didn't have to get wet and cold as my garage is too small to fit a car.
  2. I like SUVs for a number of reasons. 1) High up seating position 2) Permanent 4WD 3) Great in snow 4) Can take me along RUPPs and BOATs 5) Generally longer lasting than ordinary cars. (even if need lots of preventative maintenance) 6) My commute can flood (rain flood not flowing water flood). 7) My route home if road closed the alternate road is one of the BOATs 8) Spares are readily available 9) Light and airy 10) Mine has a curry hook. Mine is a nice vehicle to travel in, comfy and pleasant. Even handles well for something on live axles.
  3. I could do with a pretend preserved one as I saw one on a school trip to Wales.
  4. Last time I looked terrible. One reason I took it off the road. Pads and the like OK, but clutch cables aghhh
  5. 1600cc engine Lowest tune LC, 7.8:1 High Torque single camchain single valve spring 65bhp at under 5000rpm Single 1.5 carb Lowest tune HC 8.8:1, High Torque single camchain single valve spring 69bhp at under 5000rpm Single 1.5 carb Will valve bounch below red line. Medium tune, 8.8:1 GLS engine, twin row cam chain, double valve springs 80bhp as mid 5000s, single 1.75carb Higher tune, late Tiger and Ti 9.something:1 Similar head to GLS but lumpier cam and bigger valves 100bhp at low 6000s, various carbs can supply but usually 2 x 40DCOE There were similar in the older 1500cc engine including twin 1.5 carbs GLS engine was nice to drive, high torque slow. However it could be easily modified to a better specification. 120bhp at crank was easy, 150bhp more work, going full race seen a car with 150bhp at wheels, more than a stock Lotus. Mine was 90 at wheels so somewhere around 110 to 120 at crank. 10.5:1 CR and Kent FR3 cam
  6. Land Rover Discovery 2 It is not pleasant, OK on the straight but my commute is very twisty. When working well it corners very well for something with excellent off road ability. However there is a garage on the commute so booked in for tomorrow.
  7. Just found out today what it is like to drive a 4x4 with no effective anti roll bars. Had a big bang on way to work and a lot of noise, snapped drop link. Every corner the roll bar was banging as it moved. Unplugged the relay to disable them. On way home like a boat. It was horrible. Back is on air so is quite soft anyway, and with relay pulled the ARBs are in locked mode, usable when both are connected properly but the fluid from front ram was going to rear ram so no roll control at all. Gone from a fully active system to no system until Wednesday.
  8. This is my first BFK, the other will be its sometimes partner, there were 4 on the WR
  9. I ran a Carlton for 5 years then 4 Omegas longest 8 years. Ran big Vauxhalls for about 20 years.
  10. I took a mould of a roof vent and cast a few vents off it for BFKs and my 2C BSO. I used the Mark 2 book, also even if one window is say 1mm out it would not be noticable. However I do have to say that the BFK conversion is very satisfying
  11. To be honest GM are now dead here. Peugeot Corsa 208 I expect the rest will join it soon.
  12. 1250, bet that was slow. I thought the 1600 was an excellent engine.
  13. Yes Sunbeam Mine started as a very cheap 1.0l, too slow, so soon got a 1.6, that soon got twin carbs and a Kent cam. My mum had an Avenger estate, I blew up the original engine (1.3) and fitted a scrapyard 1,6 to it, it was quite rapid.
  14. The Avenger. I actually found that very upsetting. I really liked them, and would have liked one as a project. My mum had one about 30 years ago. I had the hatch version for about 5 years.
  15. I keep the FO roof whole and just replace the sides. Doing my second at the moment, but held up due to lack of Shawplan bits. Then use the SO parts to produce a 2E TSO. Got a cutting diagramme on one of my threads
  16. Years ago he knew my boss and gave him a lift, I think they averaged 90 on a twisty A road. In an Escort
  17. I thought it was Amazon and streaming exclusive
  18. It is to put stretchers in Just search for CK Stretcher Window on your favourite search engine
  19. What adverts? And how did you record it?
  20. I think I may have to visit him. I have been metioning the glazing since my first 2C. If I had a laser cutter I would design and make my own 2_ABC glazing. Hand cut a couple for the first BSO but I currently have 6 with another awaiting frames. As to buying at shows, went to Warley and after my visit no more Airfix glazing or frames left. And there was no 2_ABC frames at all, I got there not long after opening and the first stall I went to. Not really prepared to wait until next Warley as I am now scared I will be in the same position when I hit 60 as I started detailing these sets when I was 50.
  21. I watch Prime on the PS4. Was wanting for a while then got cheap offer just before the start of TGT. Was worth while, a LOT cheaper than pay TV, and no logos on programmes.
  22. Yes Opel based hence they can do corners https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_V_platform_(1966) They were Opel based until those weird transverse V6 things. As an example VT - Omega B (UK Carlton) VN - Senator B / Omega A (UK Carlton B)
  23. GM have basially given up on cars outside of the US. Europe now all Peugeots. Sad end to the big Opels as well. For years Holdens were basically Opels with small block V8s.
