  1. I do like the old Airfix cement wagon, mine are all PCV or CPV, CPV were the BR owned ones in bauxite and PCV private owner ones in various colours, mine are grey. Spent an interesting half hour at a cement terminal siding taking notes and photos, so my wagons are based on real ones. I prefer kits to RTR for wagons.
  2. This is a friends band after reforming after about 30 years
  3. You are not having mine. Ran fine when I rode on it, probably a Gloucester/Swindon service.
  4. I upset people who suggest seeing a tribute act. They can get stuffed. I have seen them live, their penultimate concert in 1983.
  5. I hate wearing adult school uniforms, oh and currently wearing jeans, T shirt and company fleece in the office.
  6. Best handling hatch I have driven came from a Scottish factory and had forest springs fitted. I remember following a Mondeo once on the way to work wondering why its inside rear wheel was lifting in corners. Another day I was wondering why I was looking out of the drivers door window to see where I was going on a freshly stonechipped road.
  7. I think I may have found a good primer. Tamiya fine surface primer, the car ones are too lumpy, I had a HobbyCraft voucher so primer and No11 knife blades. Sprayed 4 aircons in it and it appears to cover plastic, brass and whatever the frames are (stainless steel?) pretty well. Will have to wait until spring for blue and grey

I have not had a response since around Christmas on any contact method. When he confirmed that the bits I wanted were on order. Shawplan email no answer Phone usual ring out Private email no answer (not handing it out) I had emailed a roughly £200 order to him. I hope he is OK.
  11. Not sure but the 1.3 SR was not that quick, the 1.6 injection was around 100bhp, but was released after I had got a proper job.
  12. The 1300 was a revvy little lump and better than some other companies 1.6s (eg Pinto Sierra)
  13. For me it was seeing weird coaches nothing like I had seen in a catalogue, and the fact I found a coach spotting book very soon after I started on locos. I reckon coaches started about a month after loco names. I started collecting wagon details for my own models.
  14. To be honest best to. Worse than a 1.0 A series
  15. Just awaiting more models to make it worth spraying bauxite
  16. I bought two about a year ago Aghh closed in August, if I had known I would have got a couple more. Looks like I will have to mod some Aifix components and cast some.
  17. In proper job I drove a Maestro for one trip, quite a practical car, better than teh Ford stuff that job normally used, at that time I had a Chrysler hottish hatch.
  18. I have a couple of Chivers MDV, would these have converted OK?
  19. I used pictures of the actual vehicle, anyway all the ex RUs on WR ran on B5s
  20. Externally difficult to tell the difference, but with the 19xx I had to block off at least two windows, but as the 10l R.U.B. with it in is 4 or 5 down, not looking today. Anyway today is aircon day, working on a 2D BFK, and priming 2F FO and 3x 2D TSO
  21. Was strange, and two versions of the SAME engine for both 1.3 and 1.6, both strangled enough to not be worth having over the smaller lumps. What got me was the 2.0, fair enough the low tune for Cavalier and base Astra 2.0 at 115, but why a mild high comp Carlton version, that said, it definately felt more like the 130 so I wonder if it was a paper exercise. However some people wondered why I did a £1.50 per hour driving job, well it was employment, did two stints, but it really helped with spotting, rode lots of HSTs out of Paddington. So if anyone wants buyers advice for 30 year old Vauxhalls? 3.0 Senator 2.0 Carlton 2.0 Cavalier 1.3 Astra 1.2 Nova And yes when I bought my 2.0GLi I really wanted a GSI3000 but not enough money.
  22. Ooops you are right, but it is very similar.
