  1. Chatted to Michael today. I loved those Diesel shunter kits, and I really want a 15" Hunslet, to become 2409
  2. Smelly People Well I am going to have to say it but I did not come across any today in hall 5, but on the bus back someone was near me and VERY smelly, BO and fags. Possibly the person who had been to the cat show, or the person who had been to the bike show. One of the children thought it was the cat lady.
  3. Too late for me I am afraid. Made 2 116s out of Lima 117s
  4. My daughter is going to that one. I prefer to see model railway things.
  5. I edited mine to oops because I thought I saw tables through the windows!
  6. Lima never made a 2F BSO, so where did yours come from? Will be putting up pics of my BFK tomorrow
  7. How many then? The 2E matches to the Bachmann 2A quite well. I have too many coaches as it is. And too many suburban DMUs
  8. I have nearly 20 Airfix 2Ds and I can make any aircon vehicle from them. If I need more, not hard work. My 2F FO is OK, but the fan is crude and I still have another box to lop off. TSOs are rare but 2xBSO = TSO and BSO+FO=BFK Bogieless specimins from Ebay are fine for this. Those SP Roe Vac vents do not match Airfix either. I think I will leave them OOB until I detail one. As to Bachmann, they could add 2D 2E as well, what do we have? 2D TSO, FO, FK, BSO, BFK. 4 shells 2 underframes 2E TSO, FO, BSO. 4 shells, 2 underframes 2F TSO, FO, BSO. DBSO 4 shells, 2 underframes Ignore roofs (use seperate vents) TSOs 2D, 2E (early), 2E & 2F. 3 in total FO 2D & 2E, 2F (I think, may be 2E & 2F) 2 in total FK uses same shell BSO 2D & 2E, 2F. 2 in total BFK, 1 DBSO - I leave this one to experts So ignoring DBSO, we have 8 shells, 3 or 4 chassis (not sure on 2F BSO), 2 basic roof designs. To give us all Mark 2 aircon stock. Using seperate mouldings down to one chassis and 3 or 4 fan units. Would not be difficult for a manufacturer to produce the lot.
  9. So that is the major Lima 87 problem sorted. Thanks Martin
  10. Looking better Brian but should we have to do so much to a new model in this day and age? I can accept moulded detail and cost cutting, but wrong shades of paint means respray, that "solebar" is a real pain. I would expect a new model to be dimensionally accurate, the correct colourm and not have glaring faults. If I am going to have to repaint I may as well fit laserglaze and extreme etching frames to my 2E from 2D conversions. Airfix based you are looking at 2 - 4 hours body preparation, and about £20 of parts, plus a respray. These you are looking at £21-£23, plus wheels, and a respray. As I have around 16 I think (losing them to conversions, plus not sure what I bought), I may as well detail what I have. Airfix body preparation is carve off frames, door handles, grab handles, roof handles. drill 28 holes on FO/FK/TSO, about 40 on a BSO/BFK, reprofile the bottom edge, file the window apertures until the glazing will fit from inside. I can do 1 a week while watching TV. To be honest I am buying and converting for versions, a 2D 2E and 2F are not interchangeable, you do need the correct version. (And I do need to resize the door windows on my Airfix based 2F). I will have two WR aircon sets to go with my WR 47/4s and 50s**, a ER NESW set I still require the 47 for, a MR set and I will also want a MR 2F set for WCML behind a 86. The only issue is I have to cut the trains down to 4 or 5 vehicles so my ER NESW set will be BG TSO BAR FO TSO. Any left over 2D TSOs will get the cut window treatment, ecept this time I will fill and recut, rather than splice. And people thought I was mad coach spotting in the late 70s and 80. Oh and wagon spotting helps with my mineral wagons and other BR bauxite stock. ** And my stretched Lima chassis keeps binding, Need to find a broken Hornby 50 for chassis.
  11. I am going to have to do another because I need 1 WR and 1 MR It may be going to Warley. I want to make a certain part etcher supply the frames, only been waiting since winter
  12. I will have to look it up but I think they were 2B rather than 2A so may need to use Lima!!!!! However you may get away with vent changes filling and rescribing Bachmann doors. I will check my books later as I am going by memory, but I do remember seeing rakes with 2x 2 or 2A BFKs next to each other.
  13. Wasn't too bad for my 116 but the 2DEFs seem to be quite easy. Will sort the main appearance missmatches with Lima 2Fs as well
  14. I am a bit fed up of filing the Airfix window apertures to fit Laserglaze, the BFK is a pain and two door windows are missing FK is ready for paint How good are the 2E frames compared to Airfix Lima and Extreme Etching?
  15. I see no reason to retire my 4 2E TSOs nor to not complete number 5, not enough gain. For less I can Extreme etch them. And tidy up the joins!
  16. Aircons normally work with other aircons, a Mk 1 buffet and a BG. However had a Mk1 FO once in a air con train. Usually within type but DEF s were mixed on the WR and MR
  17. Hmm that chassis fit looks odd. Can we have a picture of it on rails with a 2D one end and a 2F the other to see how they match?
  18. FK frames are on, they look good. BFK is being smoothed ready for frames. Done the fan(s) (need embarrased icon) Hope to be at Warley and I will be annoying a certain person there with my 2ABC bodies until I get the window frames!
  19. Just need some decent BFK side pictures to remount it properly
  20. Actually just found out 30 years on the brakes have one small fan! Never knew that Found some pictures
