  1. Followed the http://www.tekrevue....ore-windows-10/ instructions on how to activate System Restore and discovered it already was activated - had an entry for a Windows Update yesterday so have MS switched in on through an update?
  2. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/windows-10-and-microsoft-office-2003/7b31a43a-f0b3-44bd-b402-7318e8a5d46f?auth=1
  3. Google does usually come up with the right results, some of the results I have seen colleagues at work get using Bing etc are downright hilarious and in some case a sacking offence if they opened the link.
  4. Anyone remember last years Christmas sale Hornby did, wait....do not buy yet!
  5. One in Sainsburys Harrogate this morning.
  6. IE is still their, am using now. Edge is ok as far as I can make out and does seem faster. I always change the default search engine away from Bing, its relatively easy to do. As antrobuscp has alluded it can be made to look like XP or W7 Heres my desktop
  7. Yes, remove the tiles and install classic shell.http://www.classicshell.net
  8. I usually find this seller on ebay to be cheaper for Hornby spares http://stores.ebay.co.uk/AC-SLOTCARS-AND-TRAINS?_trksid=p2047675.l2563
  9. Theres a stack of settings to disable to keep your neighbours and Microsoft at bay. I have previously posted the link but here it is again http://www.networkworld.com/article/2957205/microsoft-subnet/tweaks-to-windows-10-settings-for-privacy.html
  10. No mention on the magazine cover of it being OO - odds on its a O gauge model copied from the Bachmann Pewter one. Could explain why there are 41, 40 OO models and this one as a compensation for originally indicating it would be OO.,
  11. Theres a Win10 compatible version of Classic Shell now available for anyone wanting a more traditional start menu (things like Recent Documents) www.classicshell.net
  12. See the link I posted in earlier (message 142 in this thread)
  13. The MSOffice through work offer gives you licences for two copies. I had used on a new laptop and then whe. I renewed my desktop early this year expected to have to pay for Offive but discovered I had a further active licence.
  14. There was a pre Win 10 launch update to Norton Internet Security which made it Win 10 compatible. On one pc without the NIS update Win 10 killed it - restored by a fresh download from Symantec, had to pick an older version as the existing and the website then offered the latest version for downloading. Only problem notices so far is MSMoney squealed for IE6, a web search found a registry patch which solved the issue. Win10 has however not resolved the lost internet connection problems I have when using trying to search using google.
  15. Useful web page on how to improve privacy/security http://www.networkworld.com/article/2957205/microsoft-subnet/tweaks-to-windows-10-settings-for-privacy.html
  16. The Win10 update can be forced to run as explained on this web page http://venturebeat.com/2015/07/28/how-to-force-windows-to-start-downloading-the-windows-10-update-files/
  17. The coupling rods hit the steps on one side on mine, but only when running forward!
  18. Having raised the issue of the handrail knobs I decided to buy one anyway, especially when passing through Haworth early today before Pennine Models had opened I found the station shop selling them at £93, and even if Pennine had them cheaper at least the profit goes towards the railway.
  19. Just choose a decoder with similar CVs on JMRI and program it as that, for example their was no option for Lenz Standards when they were first released so you told Decoder Pro it was a Lenz silver and programmed it.
  20. Not as simple as that as has been pointed out, the handrails will also need complely rejigging.
  21. Surely it should be up to Hornby to design handrail knobs that compensate for the angle of the hole, after a number of mistakes on first releases being corrected on later production runs I think I will postpone a purchase and see what develops ,
  22. Yet everyone else, and Hornby until these 0-6-0s, has managed it. If complicated moulds are the problem maybe the next release of a certain A3 will look like this http://www.vectis.co.uk/AuctionImages/95/1553_l.jpg
  23. and the photo confirms that Hornby seem to have again got the boiler handrail knobs at the wrong angle like the J15.
  24. The 0-6-0T I have seems to be okay, I make a point of running everything in round an oval of Kato Unitrack on the floor in both directions and both ways round the oval as soon as it arrives.
