  1. Great layout, such a nice flowing feel to it as well, even though it's not the longest. I can see the start of so much detail going into it as well, following now (with interest!!) Jinty ;-)
  2. WOW!!!!!! Just seen your tube videos for the first time (I'm probably the only one!!!), and they are really good, informative and very well shot. Lovely layout, with different areas, all very well put together. Love the Mk3 'Tina with the odd wing, nice touch. Jinty ;-)
  3. What a great idea!!!! Don't set me off, I've got a 14' x 2' section of the garage I'm yet to fill, and I've had all sorts of thoughts about some compact layout with handbuilt track, etc!!!!!!! Will follow this and try to resist!!!! Jinty ;-)
  4. Yes me too, although I'm looking for a banger blue or a R/F Redstripe one as well. Jinty ;-)
  5. Hi Pete, The PCA's look great by the way, and P H Design does some rather nice replacement etches for both the Vee Tank and the Metalair. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me posting here, but if he does, I'll remove them. Jinty ;-)
  6. Yes that 47 is my baby at the moment, it started life as a Bachmann 47301 in R/F Red stripe, repainted and Biffo sound onbord.I must get a couple of Grids but 37's keep coming up!!!!!!!! Jinty :-)
  7. We're just slaves to the cause!!!!! Question: The high speed crossover you have modelled( as mentioned above), do they have a different operating mechanism (real railway) to the normal point motor system? Jinty ;-)
  8. That's cleared that up then, thanks Merf. I used to hear at least one every night in the week back then, so they must of had quite a bit to get rid of? Jinty ;-)
  9. Very nice indeed, the nearest to cement trains on the N Wales coast was 'Castle Cement' plant at Penyffordd. But I believe, although I will stand corrected, that there used to be a regular run of cement up to the Trawsfynned power station, to serve the plant when it was being de-commissioned!!!! I lived near the route of the Conwy valley line and I used to hear 31's trundelling up there with wagons in tow during the early hours!!!! Jinty ;-)
  10. Excellent work on the lights, this is going to be awesome to follow!!! I love the banger blue grid, great weathering;-) Jinty ;-)
  11. Belated Birthday wishes, Sorry I missed it due to Anniversary meal!!!!!!! Hope you had a great day Jinty ;-)
  12. Lovely Scottish 37 there, Fine work indeed. Jinty ;-)
  13. Ahh the good old tabloids, just like me............. What is it they say, a picture speaks................jibberish??? Jinty ;-)
  14. Nice!!!!!! Wish I could find bargains like that!!!!! Sounds great, and what a really great rendition to a prototype location :-) Top work, takes a while to read through but well worth it. Jinty ;-)
  15. Bloody ell, all the way down on page 3 (not that bad a page to be on I suppose???) Have BT got their finger out yet or are you practicing trapeze? Hope you're back on soon Jinty ;-)
  16. Stunning, simply stunning............... I particularly like the low shot with the two red aspects......... Brilliant Jinty ;-)
  17. Must be my hearing, or they were doing different speeds!!!! Nice though :-) Jinty ;-)
  18. Here is a picture of a fruit D I did with a mixture of liquids, powders and paint. Not the best photo, but you can see the way the black liquids enhance the planking, all mainly trial and error, until you get the result you want. Sorry for the hijack. Jinty ;-)
  19. Hi there, Weathering is a difficult task, as everyone has a different perception (and opinion in some cases) of what is acceptable. I use a mixture of paints, weathering liquids and powders. I utilise the paints for more heavy staining, but I usually work over the areas with powders too. But one of the better products (in my own opinion) are weathering liquids. Available from Modelmates (and Humbrol I think as well), they are painted on into corners and raised detail, then I use a cotton bud dipped in water to wipe off the excess, leaving the corners and raised detail picked out more. Then usually weathering powders and finish off with a matt varnish. Weathering liquids can be found here or at model shops http://www.modelmates.co.uk/ The main thing is practice and patience. Regards Jinty ;-)
  20. Great vids, were the two 37's (running together) different sound files, as I'm sure I heard different sounds from them, enjoyed the vids, keep them coming. Jinty ;-)
  21. Great videos, really enjoyed them. Jinty ;-)
  22. This is just immense!!!!! Happy Birthday, and keep it all going, it's modellers like yourselves that make people like me, who've hung around for a long time just reading and looking at others work, have the confidence to start a layout thread of their own, and the help, in both directions, is all too willingly given, and received for that matter as well. Although I've only posted on this thread once previously, I do catch up whenever I can, and the banter and modelling is all good. Thanks again, and don't forget the Radox after that wiring under the boards!!!! Jinty ;-)
  23. Great work, and a fantastic layout, it has just so much little detail that makes it stand out!!! As for the Roco (type) vs Kadee, I use Kadee on all my stock and I find them very forgiving. I was using No. 18's on most of the stock as my minimum radius was 30", but after fitting 2 single slips, I got problems. I hadn't realised that they were only 24" radius!!!! Still most of the stock still traversed the slips, but just a few didn't, and it would be the ones that need to as well!!!!! So I changed them all to No.19's, and the Bachmann Mk1/2's to No.20's. I find them very reliable and easy to fit to older stock too! Plus the uncoupling benefit as well, I'd say they are the ones for you ;-) Regards Jinty ;-)
