  1. I guess it must be 10 or more years ago that our council switched off a lot of road lighting and it really did make a noticeable difference to the amount of light pollution, but sadly it is now worse then ever it was back then. What surprises me is the number of households around me who have their internal lights on all through the night, plus outside yard lights and gardens full of those solar lights. There are quite a mix of people as well, pensioners, working middle age people and a few with young families. With the high cost of energy I would have thought that non essential lighting would be off but it certainly does not seem to be the case around here.
  2. Wouldn't work Andy, all that warm air rising from the bunker would be like looking through a shimmering heat haze and even worse would be the occasional curry blast causing air turbulence on a nuclear scale.
  3. One trick you can try is to stick some plain paper of similar thickness to the brick paper on the opposite side of the card to equal out the pull of the glue that you only applied to one side.
  4. Some of the best photos you have taken so far Mike.
  5. It was done by the Mole Catcher to prove he was doing his job.
  6. I think you have lead a too sheltered life Jeff. A day or two on Usenet will open your eyes.
  7. There was a pub near us that was run by an English lady and her Spanish husband, he did the all the cooking but couldn't speak English. They did an excellent Spanish menu but paella was never on the menu. After about the third visit I enquired about its absence and was told that it was too expensive to source all the different fish to make it properly. His wife said in future if we would like a paella, just call a couple of days before and he would cook one specially. WOW, it was exceptional, best paella I have had anywhere, not cheap but so good we could have had it every day. We went about five more times having paella on three occasions then suddenly they had gone never to be seen again and the pub was closed for two months before opening as a 'family pub' with the usual junkie fast food stuff.
  8. If you had seen rabbits in the 50/60's when they had myxy you wouldn't want them anywhere near a paella
  9. Perhaps this is the stuff to use, as displayed by Tony Wright at the bottom of post 4706 http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64295-wright-writes/page-189&do=findComment&comment=1892608
  10. Takes one to recognise one My village elders keep calling me, they've lost theirs
  11. Now why did I read that as 'at 97' Little Chef's were very popular years ago, my dad used to call them upmarket greasy spoons but they always seemed to do nice desserts like cherry pie, ice cream and pancakes.
  12. The wife doesn't drink whisky, I'm still looking for the cause :jester:
  13. It happens to be World Whisky Day, thankfully I have a good supply to help it on its way. Not unlike pancake day where there is always a shortage 'cos the other half don't like cooking 'em.
  14. Off topic, but if you are still interested in photo editing software Gilbert, (photoplus X6), this is a bargain http://www.serif.com/index.aspx
  15. It seems to me that Rails are fraudualently trying to influence their feedback which is probably against the terms and conditions of eBay. It would be interesting to hear the views of eBay. Or do you think that the loss of one customer against the commission eBay receives from Rails overall would not favour the customer's complaint in the eyes of eBay?.
  16. I would like to remind you Jeff that as Returning Officer at the Polling Station you are not allowed under any circumstances to canvass voters in any way, shape or form. Failure to observe will confine you to a complete ban on gardening and solitary confinement to The Bunker, where you will undertake railway building of such magnitude that it will only be deemed completed, once all voters are satisfied that there will be no further meddling in such constitutional matters as a fair vote for lunacy.
  17. The garden is coming along nice now there is a bit of greenery and colour appearing, certainly worth all that hard work through the winter. That gives me a clue to naming the New Lounge. What about calling it The Terrace
  18. Lunester Lounge [X] for me. Then we can have the excitement of renaming this place
