  1. Mine have also been cancelled, but I have already pre-ordered these and the P2's from alternative suppliers, but not yet cancelled my Hattons ones to see what happens!!!! All my Hattons pre-orders bar one have been cancelled by Hattons. I will not be ordering from them again!!!
  2. From memory, the Powermaster is a Variable Transformer controller that uses an Auto transformer to give an infinitely variable output from the transformer, rather than a "stepped" output. Perhaps the "slider" has jammed, but this doesn't make sense!!!! Open it up and have a look!! then trace the circuitry. Terry
  3. Many years ago, a group of us students hire some boats on the Broads. These were mainly sailing boats, but also "Caribbean" a motorised bathtub with accommodation. During the week, we went upstream of Potter Heigham bridge, a notorious challenge. On returning the river was running higher than usual, following a lot of rail. So as instructed, we called the boatyard for a pilot. He decided to remove the roof handrails, but even then the boat was too high. Terefore we went into the town to see if anyone wanted to ride under the bridge. Having sufficient human ballast, the pilot went for the bridge. I still contend that he went too slowly, as he hit the arch of the bridge three time on the way through!!!! This holiday had similarities to "The Art of Coarse Sailing" for those old enough to remember,
  4. I find all this very strange, and does not give much confidence in Hornby Hobbies. I ordered mine on the 1st May, when I believe that the number was stated as 2020. I had tried multiple times and the web page kept "freezing" at the payment stage. Eventually, I ended up with two in my basket, and had problems with cancelling one!!!! Eventually, it seemed that the order H00331604 was accepted!!!! With trepidation, I waited. Then on 7th August I received a dispatch notification from DPD and the model was delivered on 10th August. There seems to be a history of Hornby under delivering shown on this forum. I hope that those still waiting will eventually receive them. Terry
  5. 1962 tube stock had cabs at both ends of both 3 and 4 car units. Those with shunting controls were 1949 tube stock UNDM's - Uncoupling Non Driving Motor Cars. These supplemented the 1938 tube stock when the train formations were changed, if I remember correctly on reforming the 9 Car Northern Line units
  6. Sounds about right, I and others in the HRCA still use A3's etc. Maybe I should dig one out and record it Terry
  7. Brings back memories. I was a "head Office" engineer with RHM Agriculture from early 1974, through the Dalgety Spillers merger until 1987. Terry
  8. That's a weight of my mind, I was always worried about all wheel gear drive. It even affected the prototype "Fell" Terry
  9. Just Ordered mine after trying the get the web site to let me until midnight. It was still in my Basket (Out of Stock at 7:30AM) 2020 seems to be a good quantity!!! Terry
  10. Hi Ian, there are a number of track plan booklets on the HRCA web site. Could you maybe confirm which booklet you are using, the print code will help identification. Also confirm the figure number of the plan in question. I am have problems in identifying the acyual plan in question. By the way, welcome to the wonderful world of Dublo trains. Which area of the world are you located. I and others on this site will give you all the help (and encouragement) that we can Regards Terry
  11. My USA's run perfectly on Hornby Dublo standard radius curves. These are 15 inch radius, so are slightly "freer" than radius 1!!!
  12. My experience with the Bo-Bo and the Wrenn Brighton Belle is that oiling the non powered bogie axles insulates the axles ro the bogie frame, causing loss of conductivity. Cleaning out the oil cures the problem, what is required is conductive oil!!! The Co-Co and Co-Bo chassis have a plunger running in the axles.
  13. I believe this is Ron Conner trading as Model Railway Signs. He has relocated since I last dealt with him. When he made two signs for me,, ordered at a show, they were delivered about two weeks later. His web page is - http://www.modelrailsigns.co.uk
  14. I was on that train!!!! Failed between first and second dinner sitting, long wait for us as we were on the second sitting. Arrived in Paris at about 2:45 (AM) Terry
  15. I regularly use A2 and A3 controllers from the middle 1950's. Just keep an eye on the mains cables/have them insulation tested. (part of the dreaded PAT test) Terry
  16. Too much to list, "played with" regularly. Terry
  17. There are HRCA meetings around the country, at which non member visitors are normally welcome. Why not join the "Hornby 0 gauge trains - HRCA" Facebook forum, sales etc not allowable but plenty of 0 Gauge interest. Harry regularly runs "M" series on 9" and 12" circuits as double track. Keep playing Terry
