Is the grey roof on the ARC one darker than the cab sides/bogies/underframe? Should all be the same, shouldn’t it…?
  2. Also just tried to pre-book tickets and found they seem to be taken down. Still, I’d sooner give the extra £2 to the club than the ticket vendor, who seem pretty poor based on the fact they’re still saying you can sign up for advanced notification of the tickets becoming available!
  3. Hang on... you said you said you wanted to penalise any track limit violation, now it's only certain corners where going wide is an issue, and that 3-strikes is ok? That's not "penalising any error". It's not about the actual racing, but the sentiment. To misquote Senna if you no longer go for a gap because the risk of penalty is far higher than the reward then you are no longer a racing driver. If they fear that it is nailed on that running wide will equal a penalty why would you ever try and out brake someone?
  4. Why? Because racing would be awful. I mean, yes ok, they could extend track limits by 50 feet, then you'd have Paul Ricard. They could put foam bumpers on the cars, so no damage got inflicted, but that would be insane. Why not just go and "spectate" the M1 for a couple of hours on a Sunday? More overtakes, no track limits violations, and any collisions have serious ramifications.
  5. Yeah, we get that you support a draconian enforcement of the rules (any infringement of track limits, any contact etc) , but I can’t help but think that would be utterly terrible for actual racing. I mean… why not punish them for accelerating too hard. Think of the CO2. In fact, maybe they should just all shake hands and call it a draw, save the racing entirely.
  6. Literally on the last page - production complete and invoices being sent out. A fuller update due imminently.
  7. It is pretty special to both complain it's too expensive and that the car park isn't adequately marshalled. I once got tricked into marshalling the car park at an event in support of Mrs njee20, and my god it was a hideous few hours. The car driving public are complete and utter entitled *insert choice expletive*. Disappointed not to make the show this year, it's been a staple for a long time, and Hinksey Yard is always worthy of a good watch!
  8. I think it was a joke... I don't even model in OO, but I've bought one. Can't wait.
  9. Models go up in a value all the time, essentially second hand values will track new values, which are rising, with a basic supply:demand equation too. Sought after model you can’t buy new? Then secondhand ones will be worth more. I’m not sure quite what makes you think that a specific weathered loco is especially valuable, based on the fact a different shop is advertising one for more than you paid. In general weathering does not add an equivalent value to the second hand product IMO.
  10. Corr, that really is a dedicated 'enthusiast' to consider a subtly different sub-class of Electrostar as worthy of a journey! That said I noticed that we had a pantograph fitted /2 on the Arun Valley last week, which I've not consciously seen often! Really looking forward to seeing which of the class we get; JJB's photo shows nicely the marked differences in the lighting arrangements on the /3 and /6 sub classes as built.
  11. Wow! The HOAs are heavy, 20% more for the JHAs is mad!
  12. I’m a fan of videos for identifying container wagons, as you say, Flickr (and all photography sites) tend to focus heavily on the locos. Frustratingly though that far back the quality tends to be that much poorer it’s hard to work out exactly what types are. You can find decent videos from the last 10 years, which will certainly help, although things like FWAs will have crept in. I’m minded to agree that a rake comprising FSA/FTAs with some FEAs, KFAs, IKAs and KTA/KQAs would never look out of place. You know when someone keeps “contributing” to a thread, but they’re not actually adding anything, and everyone is ignoring them like that old drunk guy in the corner of the pub, but he still keeps talking to you? Yeah… that.
  13. Of course he can, but I'm sure he knows that without your contributions. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do things correctly, just as there's nothing wrog with "rule one" modelling. Freightliner have indeed always had a significant presence in Southampton. 2005 would have seen 57s and 66 haulage to go with the wagons previously mentioned.
  14. Many European models use overscale generic pantographs still from what I’ve seen, but the European market still seems to tend more toward sprung pantographs (which ride the wire like you say), whilst we have more posable, and thus finer ones, as we tend to either eschew wires or use closer to scale ones which won’t support a functional pantograph. I agree the BWHS pantograph on the 90s seen thus far don’t look overly impressive though, the Revolution one looks far better. I’d also like to hope they’ll do a better job before production. The Stone Faiveley on the 319 looks good.
  15. But they’re not specifically about saving money. Ok there’s no LCD screen to fail, but that’s just a side benefit.
  16. But as said, then no one will take any risks because the penalty won’t be worth it. So you’ll get really dull DRS overtakes and nothing else.
  17. So don’t, luckily you’re not being asked to. Point is that it’s not a DCC issue so it doesn’t belong there any more than it belongs in the O gauge sub-forum.
  18. Children are cheap once they go to school, we pay £1000/month for my daughter to attend nursery 3 days a week! I'm fortunate that the rising cost of living hasn't really impacted me/the family in any meaningful way. Exhibitions are a sufficiently cheap facet of the hobby, and one that I really enjoy, that it would come a long way down the list of things I'd cut. Even attending ~10 shows a year is probably on par with a couple of loco purchases, and I'd purchase fewer locos before I stopped going to shows. Cutting out takeaways would save more. That said, I am being slightly mindful around travel. I want to go to Warley, which is a 300 mile round trip, basically a full £80 tank in my (not sensible) car. My usual attending partner is likely otherwise engaged, I would happily get the train, but Avanti's mess means no fares being available, so I'll probably drive myself. The bigger issue for me is actually the moderate boredom of the 300 mile drive rather than the cost though. If anyone West Sussex/Surrey area fancies a lift share to Warley I'm happy to drive!

  20. I also expected the mediums to fall away. Bit surprised at Merc opting for the hard given Lewis wasn’t keen on them in the second stint. Good race though.
  21. I sprayed all of my sleepers with Plasticote Suede, which for me looks like a decent base for weathered concrete sleepers.
  22. I found MegaPoints a bit temperamental when you start to get near the limit of available current; suddenly it would all fall over, and you’d have to unplug 10 or so servos for order to be restored, even though an additional one had tipped it over the edge. It would also go from working perfectly to complete servo anarchy with just one additional servo, so I also suspect upgrading the power supply cable may help, if not resolve it. That said, it’s odd that restoring your network isn't resolving the issue.
  23. I know, I managed to find the images used for those two, but didn’t find the images they used for the other two ‘scenes’. There’s only so much endless Googling of power stations I could face, particularly when I couldn’t think of how to describe the other two images! 😆 With Revolution doing them and Hornby re-running the OO gauge ones as well I stopped trying too hard. Certainly do Ian, feel free to drop me a PM, or you can email me on 3Dwagonworks@gmail.com I sent Daniel at Great Deltan a rake of the JGAs to let them stretch their legs, as I’m limited to my 5-year-old’s Unitrack layout! They’re certainly striking looking wagons. https://youtu.be/42ZSGXgEGfY&t=1155s edit: of course I now need to fix all the images in this thread don’t I!?
