  1. Of course he can, but I'm sure he knows that without your contributions. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to do things correctly, just as there's nothing wrog with "rule one" modelling. Freightliner have indeed always had a significant presence in Southampton. 2005 would have seen 57s and 66 haulage to go with the wagons previously mentioned.
  2. Many European models use overscale generic pantographs still from what I’ve seen, but the European market still seems to tend more toward sprung pantographs (which ride the wire like you say), whilst we have more posable, and thus finer ones, as we tend to either eschew wires or use closer to scale ones which won’t support a functional pantograph. I agree the BWHS pantograph on the 90s seen thus far don’t look overly impressive though, the Revolution one looks far better. I’d also like to hope they’ll do a better job before production. The Stone Faiveley on the 319 looks good.
  3. But they’re not specifically about saving money. Ok there’s no LCD screen to fail, but that’s just a side benefit.
  4. But as said, then no one will take any risks because the penalty won’t be worth it. So you’ll get really dull DRS overtakes and nothing else.
  5. So don’t, luckily you’re not being asked to. Point is that it’s not a DCC issue so it doesn’t belong there any more than it belongs in the O gauge sub-forum.
  6. Children are cheap once they go to school, we pay £1000/month for my daughter to attend nursery 3 days a week! I'm fortunate that the rising cost of living hasn't really impacted me/the family in any meaningful way. Exhibitions are a sufficiently cheap facet of the hobby, and one that I really enjoy, that it would come a long way down the list of things I'd cut. Even attending ~10 shows a year is probably on par with a couple of loco purchases, and I'd purchase fewer locos before I stopped going to shows. Cutting out takeaways would save more. That said, I am being slightly mindful around travel. I want to go to Warley, which is a 300 mile round trip, basically a full £80 tank in my (not sensible) car. My usual attending partner is likely otherwise engaged, I would happily get the train, but Avanti's mess means no fares being available, so I'll probably drive myself. The bigger issue for me is actually the moderate boredom of the 300 mile drive rather than the cost though. If anyone West Sussex/Surrey area fancies a lift share to Warley I'm happy to drive!

  8. I also expected the mediums to fall away. Bit surprised at Merc opting for the hard given Lewis wasn’t keen on them in the second stint. Good race though.
  9. I sprayed all of my sleepers with Plasticote Suede, which for me looks like a decent base for weathered concrete sleepers.
  10. I found MegaPoints a bit temperamental when you start to get near the limit of available current; suddenly it would all fall over, and you’d have to unplug 10 or so servos for order to be restored, even though an additional one had tipped it over the edge. It would also go from working perfectly to complete servo anarchy with just one additional servo, so I also suspect upgrading the power supply cable may help, if not resolve it. That said, it’s odd that restoring your network isn't resolving the issue.
  11. I know, I managed to find the images used for those two, but didn’t find the images they used for the other two ‘scenes’. There’s only so much endless Googling of power stations I could face, particularly when I couldn’t think of how to describe the other two images! 😆 With Revolution doing them and Hornby re-running the OO gauge ones as well I stopped trying too hard. Certainly do Ian, feel free to drop me a PM, or you can email me on 3Dwagonworks@gmail.com I sent Daniel at Great Deltan a rake of the JGAs to let them stretch their legs, as I’m limited to my 5-year-old’s Unitrack layout! They’re certainly striking looking wagons. https://youtu.be/42ZSGXgEGfY&t=1155s edit: of course I now need to fix all the images in this thread don’t I!?
  12. Just downloaded Trnio to have a play, photogrammetry has always been interesting. Can it do STLs? I’m only seeing OBJ exports.
  13. I think any of the newer raft of MSLA printers are a big upgrade on an original Photon. I agree that the DLP Photon looks interesting, shame the build volume is small.
  14. I’ll look at printing some AWS ramps if you want some lower profile ones, Dave? it’s all looking superb though!
  15. Is it not because it constructs new track, rather than because it constructs track and it’s new…? Mind you the “New Measurement Train” falls foul of that! Somehow calling it the “Old Measurement Train” doesn’t evoke the same image of bleeding edge technology. Really like the SF06 milling machine. Off to see if I can find decent drawings for one, I sense a 3D print coming…
  16. That’s the joke… In terms of obvious things I’d be keen to see; an 88, and the MRA wagons shrunk to N would be nice.

    Class 59 in 00

To announce one at this point thought that would be ballsy though, given the Dapol one will have been on the market for a year or so, even if someone very quickly brought one to market.

Zero chance of that I'd say. Dapol have suddenly rejuvenated their N gauge 59 once Revolution announced one, I'm interested to see how that plays out. At this advanced stage I can't see there's room for another OO gauge one without it being a huge commercial risk.
  19. I’m considering dabbling with a 66, which would mean a variety of modern wagons becoming available. I agree that it’s an ideal way to expand the range available, given that anyone who has existing models can rescale them comparatively easily. The availability of things like wheels is likely to be my sticking point, it’s bad enough in N!
  20. A lot of the Re 460s are named too, albeit generally via a small anonymous black sticker below the cab side windows! The crests are much nicer.
  21. I generally don’t think they do a bad job, I guess the longer the race gets the harder it is to offer continuity given the defined duration of the highlights. This just felt particularly poor. we missed Ricciardo’s ascent through the field with an offset pit strategy too. I find it takes a minute or so after the adverts to work out what the hell has happened! It’s frustrating because I prefer the C4 team.
  22. C4 coverage was frustrating. Max: “I’ve flat spotted my tyres, need to pit” C4: cool, we’ll go to an advert break Return to program to find Max has pitted and dropped right down, plus various other shuffling completely unseen.
