  1. Candidate for job as a fitter at Harland & Wolf shipyard, Belfast: "I am very skilled and can worked to within one thousandth of an inch" Foreman: "That's no good. For this job you have to be dead on".
  2. Smoke units that replicated that would have your layout room at fatal pollution levels in a few minutes. Glad you took the loco out of the shed first though.
  3. I'm confused. If the joke contains unacceptable offensive material, what is the purpose it may serve? Genuine question.
  4. I saw this on a Facebook thread about the Iceland match and thought it was amusing: "I've never been so embarrassed to be English since.... well since last Friday "

  7. Young Gordon was with his parents and they were taking refreshments in the bar at Reading station when they heard a whistle. The three of them rushed out of the bar onto the platform only to discover that they had just missed the train. 'The next train is in one hour,' intoned the stationmaster. The three went back into the bar. The parents had another drink, Gordon had a coke. Again they heard a whistle, rushed out and discovered the train pulling away. 'Next one is sixty minutes from now,' grunted the stationmaster. An hour later, Gordon, with his mum and dad, raced out onto the platform, and his parents leaped onto the train as it pulled away. The boy was left standing on the platform and began to laugh uproariously. 'Your parents just left you,' said the stationmaster. 'Why are you laughing?' Gordon smiled, 'They only came to see me off.'
  8. Yes it is too much to ask. Lots of people have died since RMweb was formed and we have never suspended the jokes thread. There is an implication in your request that continuing the jokes is somehow disrespectful to the late Jo Cox. Being in public office or being a Mum may be relevant in the context of discussing her murder, but there is a separate thread for that. No disrespect to Jo but as far as I am concerned, as the OP of this thread, and as a rank and file RMwebber, the jokes can go on.
  9. RIP Jo Cox. A terrible thing to happen. I don't know the views of other members but we don't usually suspend RMweb when people die.
  10. We were happy for years with models produced in various liveries without the associated minor detail alterations being made to the model. I know that would be inaccurate but why not. I believe they would still sell.

  13. That 2+8 service use looks super. I have yet to set up my service use train of 2+6 but will when my current track laying is complete.
  14. Was this kestrel in Russia by any chance?
  15. I give mine to our local model shop that sells them at €1 each for charity. I saw an advert in RM a few years ago from someone wanting offers for a shed full of magazines. I did not want the magazines but through the advert I discovered that my neighbour at the other end of my street was a modeller with an outdoor OO layout.
  16. Try a trip to Ireland. None of the RPSI steam tours have a diesel attached. Details on their website www.steamtrainsireland.com
  17. I have just found this thread and these cutter/plotters are very impressive. I can see potential time saving in my planned city buildings.
  18. Thanks for that. I had the same experience and was wondering if I was doing something wrong. I have two packets of them but after experimenting yesterday I have decided to stick to soldering direct. I have found that the factory soldered clips on point frogs tend to come adrift when soldering a wire to them. I ended up direct soldering to four frogs this afternoon. The Tillig track is easily damaged and demands very careful handling but the end result with the Tillig ballast is worth the effort.
  19. My advice is to cut his grass before someone else does. If you think you are taking advantage then cut the grass for the rest of the summer.
  20. Signal from Lisburn. One of three on the same pole next to Wallace Park. GNR(I) sign from Lisburn and another sign from the NCC section. NIR trespass sign purchased through E bay
  21. Hi Can anyone here who is familiar with Tillig Elite HO track please advise on the best way to get good reliable electrical connections to the rail using the Tillig power contact clips. Catalogue No 85506. Is there a special tool for these or what is the technique for attaching them to the track? Many thanks.
