  1. Arn't you friends with your neighbour then? 😁
  2. I thought of that before posting, but I don't see how buying a present the conventional way would be bad for domestic harmony even if the surprise was discovered. Sending cash in the post then losing it would definitely upset domestic harmony.
  3. It looks like it may have been fitted with a 21mm gauge compatable bogie intended for the Irish versions of these coaches.
  4. The short answer is 'No' Apart from the risk of the cash going AWOL, you have no proof of payment. Even with a postal order you still have no proof of payment. You can always take the risk, or use plastic or paypal. Bank transfer is also an option which provides proof of payment but without any protection if the goods fail to arrive. If by 'domestic harmony' you mean that you want to keep the payment secret from SWMBO, then perhaps you have other important issues that need addressed.
  5. Is this a UNrealistic model? 😀 (or a realistic UN model)
  6. The Irish post code system ( Eircode) has a unique Eircode for each individual property. Our Eircode is therefore different from our neighbours.
  7. I hope the grain pattern on the wood is realistic lol 😀
  8. Apologies if this has been posted before but I thought it relevant to this thread. 😀
  9. Is it permitted to name and shame the manufacturers of unrealistic models? 😁
  10. Or maybe your trains are unrealistically big 😁
  11. In oo I use 10" per coach plus 12" for loco. For a loco and four coaches this works out at 52". Just a rule of thumb which works for me.
  12. A small scene on the prototype can be the inspiration to model that scene somewhere on my layout. I could be equally inspired by a scene on someone else's layout.
  13. Sadly, I think you might be right. IRM coaches with Murphy Models loco. The prototype.
  14. So who is going to build a model railway the same as Minature Wunderland? 😁
  15. Here is a photo of my IRM NIR Mk2 coaches with a Murphy Models NIR GM No 111. The blue on the coaches is much darker than on the locomotive. I remember the prototype as all being the same colour as in this photograph taken at Belfast Central. February 1981 So; who has got the colour correct? IRM, Murphy Models or neither?
  16. From the Rails website: So, who is "the manufacturer"?
  17. The convex bumps on one coach match into the concave bumps on the next coach, helping to maintain corridor alignment for passenger comfort.
  18. So Hattons buys Model TrainStuff and Rails of Sheffield buys Hattons, would that make it Rails of Hatts 'n Stuff? 😀
