  1. Hi Jim not sure if you have seen how Charlie fits the sound chip in the 68 but he removes the pcb screws and slides it forward a bit so the chip sits flatter with the pcb and i imagine reduces stress on the pins.
  2. I did a running video of my sound fitted 68 today .. i still have a very long way to go on my layout but at last i have some trains running
  3. Yes ... you do need a controller with enough funtions to manage all the functions on a sound chip.
  4. Gob smacked .......... Truly amazing work now I know I only have a train set lol .....
  5. I got a reply from Dapol about the next run of the 68's ..... I also asked about the Class 88 ..... "We are getting the information together now and hopefully, the second batch should be with different numbers should be with us before the end of the year. With regard to the Class 88, we do not have the permissions as yet I am afraid" Just in time as Christmas Presents ...
  6. Hi Dave, mine is setup with directional head and tail lights and indipandently operated Halo lights, i am away at work untill friday but will check my switch configuration when i get home as i am using the ESU LokPilot V4.1 54615 chip and it just worked out of the box, the Halo lights worked on F5.
  7. Hi Dave, What is it that you want to happen and when ? Do you just want the lighting to be directional with the ability to operate the halo lights indipandently ?? Or are you wanting something else ??
  8. Fantastic modeling Ray your attention to detail is amazing.

  10. Its all starting to come back together nicely Jim.
  11. First time I have seen this and I like it ... this forum just keeps giving to the watchers like me Thanks for sharing.
  12. Apart from the paint issue on my DRS 68's i have not had any other issues with mine but only time will tell for the 59 ....
  13. I don't have a 59 in my collection so this is going to be my first ... I am hoping its as good as the class 68.
  14. I just wanted to give a bit of feedback on Chips for the DCC Ready loco's I have tried a few chips in my 68 and they all worked the loco fine however only one chip worked all the functions out of the box without any remapping and that was the : ESU LokPilot V4.1 54615 this has the Halo lights set to F5 so if anyone out there is just looking for plug and play I can confirm this chip works in that way. I did also try the Zimo MX634D this needs remapping to control the Halo lights. There maybe other 6 function chips that work but I only had the Zimo and the ESU 6 function chips to hand I did also try Bachmann, Hornby, Gaugemaster & DCC Concepts 4 function decoders, these all operated the loco and directional lighting without any issues but not the Halo lighting.
  15. The rock work looks fantastic. ... and yes you have the best looking modern OO loco available IMO looking forward to seeing the scenery grow.
  16. Well done with the fault finding
  17. And for those wondering what it looks like after Charlie had completed the install here is one "HE" prepared earlier
  18. Has anyone managed to get all the lighting functions working on a Zimo MX634D ?? if you have can you let me know how. Thanks.
  19. I do like the low level shots DT ...
  20. My sound fitted Intrepid arrived yesturday from DC-Kits ( thanks Charlie )
  21. Agree about the lighting... but £35 is a very good price.
  22. Looing good .. Can i ask what are the Colas coaches ?
  23. Well i call it evilbay and will always call it that ....... it may be a legitimate company and i have used them since 2000 but they are by no means in line for winning any popularity competition. .... They are typical of any company that has a tight grip over a market ( yes a market that WE create ) As always this is MY opinion and everyone else is entitled to there's.
