  1. Well, here is my first test print, still on supports and I see some areas that need improvement. more support needed in some areas, some less, and some things have not formed properly. Overall I'm not to unhappy with it, just needs a little more work to make a passable model.
  2. Just a little update on the 1854 saddle tank, made some more progress and some revisions to the dome and safety valve cover. Hope to do a test print this weekend and check the fit on the Bachmann chassis.
  3. My vote is for the all brown livery. 👍
  4. And no front step or higher handrail on the 1873. It is a minefield of differences. Does anyone make the early style lamp holder/front handrail bracket, it will be very fragile in resin.
  5. Thanks Bill, this was the problem. Rails were added.
  6. This is the main picture I am using, from page 99 of the locos book, which shows the front step. I was not aware of that. see picture There is still a lot of little details still to add, and more I dig the more I find, plus the helpful tips I get here.
  7. I am having an issue with lofting in Fusion 360, and wonder if anybody has come across this before, I have drawn and formed the chimney, dome and safety valve cover and the lofting tool worked just fine, but now trying again with the water tank filler and it keeps giving me error codes before I even highlight the rails. here a screenshot of what i am getting.
  8. Took another look at the top boiler fittings and redrew them, a little happier with them now, they have better proportions, when compared with the Pictures I have. I shouldn't have gone by the drawings, which seem to be oversized, in comparison. That's why more than one pair of eyes is better. Thanks Stephen
  9. I'm wanting to get a laser cutter, for buildings etc, because the results are amazing, but have no where to put it at the moment.
  10. From the pictures I have I'm not sure where that pipe comes from, and it needs to be added, this is just a progress, so more than one set of eyes is always helpful, because it is easy to miss things. Things like toolboxes and sandboxes are individual drawings, just had the body turned off when I did the image. I'm not yet 100% happy with the dome or safety valve drawings, but when printed they seem to look a lot better, we will see when I do a test print. Yes I use the fillet tool in Fusion for this. Stephen
  11. It is an 1854/1701, I didn't notice the sandbox body was turned off when I captured the image, which is why it is missing. All the individual items are drawn as components, and saved separately so they can be used on future projects, this way I don't have to draw them again. The reason for the solid footplate is that there will be 2 options, 1 to fit the Bachmann 57xx chassis, and another for the High Level chassis kit. For the Cab arrangement I have been using the S4 boiler, from a Dean goods as a reference, but would prefer a saddle tank picture . Stephen
  12. I have managed to get some work done on computer for the saddle tank, and I think it's coming along nicely, if anyone sees any glaring issues I am all ears. This version is from the first five lots, per RCTS with the five course tank, with the U5 boiler and front dome. The backhead is proving to be a little difficult to draw as I have not been able to find any pictures, in any of the books, or by searching the internet.
  13. Hi Duncan Thank for asking , not much happening in the last couple of months, as I have a shoulder injury, that has made computer work or model making, extremely painful. I am now recovering with some therapy, daily massage etc, and can do a couple of hours each day in the last week to make some progress, and hope to build up to more things getting done. Here is a sneak preview of a 3 plank round end 7mm wagon, the first full build to test the suspension, and check clearances. This is a collaboration with @magmouse with more wagons from the late 1890's to early 1900's, to follow once the issues are sorted out.
  14. when i finally get around to building a layout, the intent is to model a frosty autumn day, with icy puddles, some leaves on the ground and dull skies.
  15. I thought the same until, it was explained to me, the the average age was 35 years, because 50% of the population had died by the age of 15 years, those that lasted past 15 could live to a ripe old age, without surgery I would have been dead by 15, because of a burst appendix.
  16. It would look amazing with an oily rag finish, adds that touch of realism.
  17. my personal preference is the Siraya Tech products, I have tried the Elegoo and Anycubic and had too many issues. The Elegoo was too brittle, and the Anycubic always seemed to give very soft edges, which i tried to cure with more supports, to no avail. after four failures of the Anycubic. with the only change being supports I switched to Siraya tech and got a perfect print on the first try. If you join their Discord group you can download, tried and tested printer settings, which can speed up the testing process.
  18. Mikkel, I am Gobsmacked, this is looking stunning, incredible words fail me.
  19. I tried your link, as I have been wanting to do something similar, with Fusion 360 designs, but it is not working.
  20. That looks exquisite, and love the weathering techniques by Giles, I also had not seen that before. Stephen
  21. Me think's the screw slot is where the crankpin goes, allowing for different strokes, maybe? just a guess.
  22. Those RD400's were a heap of fun, prone to wheelying with a pillion on the back.
  23. Duncan Mr Google pants takes me to a modelling agency, when I search for this. Stephen
  24. I have not done any modelling since June, outside projects take precedent once the summer arrives, but I have some things I'm working on now. Just printing the first 3521 chassis right now, to take High level horn blocks with CSB's. Waiting for a couple parts, for a Saddle tank body kit, to sit on a High level chassis, or the Bachmann pannier chassis. Also working on some 7mm wagons which I will reveal once I'm happy with them, they have working suspension, with moving axle boxes, these are very close completion. Stephen
