  1. Just successfully completed my first attempt at hardwiring a decoder. Fitted it to a Bachmann 08. Pleased as punch!
  2. I e-mailed Bachmann last night and had a reply at 9.08 this morning to tell me to check the decoder was the right way up. Doh - it wasn't - problem solved. My thanks to Bachmann for such a quick response.
  3. Building a new small layout and have decided to go to DCC. So far I've put a decoder into my Heljan Class 15 which is working fine and a Bachmann 21 pin decoder into my Bachmann Warship which now doesn't work at all! Ho hum - off for repair to see what happened! I have a non DCC ready Bachmann 08 so I've bought a decoder to hardwire in. Control at the moment is a second hand basic Backman EZ controller but if everything goes well I'll upgrade to something a bit more sophisticated.
  4. I've always been extremely impressed with what you've achieved in 2mm. I've bookmarked your blog and will follow it with interest.
  5. I used an old picture frame for a non working diorama in 00. Foamboard over the original frame, then used the old backing piece for a raised level.
  6. Looks really good. A lot of fantastic detail in such a small space!
  7. Hmm, I'm wondering if you could make something similar based on a couple of Peco loco lifts with some track fixed between. I'm going to give this some thought.
  8. p.s. that wasn't intended to be a negative comment!
  9. Sorry to be a pedant but your BR double arrow symbol is reversed. The top on should point right and the bottom left as in the directions the trains would go on a double track. They were only reversed on the funnel of the Sealink Ferries (showing my age here) Nice layout!
  10. And not even free postage!! For that money I'd expect the 12" to 1' version!
  11. Well, the postage is free so that must make them a bargain.
  12. Was this the aerosol version as I've just bought a can? May have to have a trial run before I risk it on some stock. Another make I used turned the humbrol weathering powder white so I thought I ought not to mix brands.
  13. I'm sure people are aware of this but I'll bring it up anyway. The use of the brake vehicle wasn't because of the need for braking but because at that stage the unions insisted that a guard was necessary and at that time they wouldn't use the rear cab of the loco.
  14. Would that be the shop starting with a "T"? I grew up in Banbury and spent many a happy hour in that shop. Bought one yesterday from Langleys in Norwich for £58.
  15. Well, it would probably take me about 2 years, but after reading about your build of the workman's platform I'm sure you can do it!
  16. It was a bit of a distraction. The angle of the building meant that the yard couldn't easily be seen from my office, I was overlooking the station itself. I was there from 1989 for about 5 years.
  17. I used to work on the top floor of the building in the background. My office had an excellent birds eye view of Woking station.
  18. Would I be right in guessing that these must be the only P4 versions of Thomas, Annie and Clarabel?
  19. Very impressive. Can't believe what you achieved in such a small amount of time.
  20. We used to have a "Knobs and Knockers" store near us!
  21. Looks good. I'm just planning a quick roundy round n gauge layout to go under the Christmas tree so not to the fine detail you're working with.
