  1. I like the ripple effect on the canal surface, Chris. Design or happy accident?
  2. The double slip has been glued in place and some initial ballasting done. It's rail connected at the lefthand end but not at the right as some sleepers need to be added.
  3. The rest of the cork bed was removed today and new cork laid in its place, ready for some track laying tomorrow. Must remember to drill the holes for the operating rods to the servos first.
  4. I should have started my second round of chemo yesterday but despite being reminded on several occasions, my consultant failed to order the chemo part I bring home in time. Having rearranged several things in my diary thinking I would be out of order this week, I was asked to go back next week but I opted to go back in 2 weeks time. I took out my frustration on the old double slip and ripped it out and made a start on lifting the cork.
  5. Another millisecond or so and the bush would have hidden the TL couplings!
  6. Parched grass in Derbyshire... a bit of a rarity. Looking good though.
  7. I like the pond, Graham. Much less garden feature, very much a natural one.
  8. Also, don't worry too much if your buffers don't line up. I guess it's due to the wagon being loaded and tired springs.
  9. Had a nice day down and up the S&C from Ribblehead to Carlisle yesterday. Leander was in one of the platforms at Carlisle, but I could only take a couple of photos through the coach window as we departed. She's in BR mixed traffic black.
  10. I know what you mean, Graham. Is the edge of the pond a little too well defined? Perhaps some floating weed varying in density around the edge would look better?
  11. Nice buildings, Paul. Good to see you at York, if not to actually speak to you!
  12. Hi DRMD do send me PM whenever you like.
  13. I agree, Chris. A is very stylised. I think the Springside ones are the best though.
  14. Thanks for the encouragement boys and girls. The PICC line goes back in a week today and first round a week on Tuesday. The cocktail is different in that the element which causes nerve damage to hands and feet is replaced by one which has other unpleasant effects, I won't go into details as some may be having their breakfast. There is a jab available which I have been told is like a bee sting. I've never had a bee sting, doctor. Well, when you do it'll feel like the injection. On the railway front, I've wired the double slip and am mixing paint to reproduce sleeper grime.
  15. I went to York show and had a good spend on bits and bobs. Is there a shortage of sleeper grime and rail colour paints as there was not a pot/jar of them to be had? I picked up some slide chairs from C&L and they are still not a patch on the old Exactoscale ones. Although there's a slight undercut for the foot of the rail I cut more away with an X-acto blade. The slip needs wiring up and them I can fit it to the layout. In health news, I am going back on a second round of chemo at the end of the month. While the tumour in the liver is stable, the two in the two lymph nodes have increased, so I opted for more treatment. Six rounds, two weeks apart followed by a CT scan to see what has happened.
  16. I'm one for keeping the hoss. I don't recall ever seeing one modelled pulling a butty boat on a canal scene and it seems to set the era of your railway as one that is now long gone. But, it's your layout...
  17. and those who use sat instead of sitting. And as for those ask, "Can I get a coffee/tea/coke etc?" No, I'll get it for you.
  18. There's no need to put the others in as you cannot seem! That hole in the roof looks much more convincing.//
  19. If the ridge beam has gone from this section of the roof then it looks fine as your chunky rafters would have held the rest up. Looking back at your photos you don't appear to have put ridge beams in anyway!
  20. I contacted Rails who replied that the coaches are straight and it must be the photos causing the banana effect. Buyer can return them if not happy.
  21. Prompted by @hayfield and @lezz01 I've super glued half chairs to the copper clad timbers.
