  1. After I'd fitted the WM cover I found a turned brass one in my box of boiler bits so it will be replaced.
  2. With the above in mind, I got to work on doing more to the 1P. Not too much left to do but painting will have to wait until the weather warms up so it may be "in the brass" for some time. This will be a 1252 Class number 1247 and was photographed at Buxton in 1931 when trialling the Hudd ATC system between Millers Dale and Buxton. She was there long enough to have a Buxton 20 shed plate which to me justifies her being a regular in Derwent. Scrapped in 1949 without receiving a BR number.
  3. Phoned Squires for a Flatiron chassis and detailing etches Wednesday pm and arrived next day post-free. Great service.
  4. The Flatiron etches arrived post-free from Squires this morning. It will have to wait until a 1P 0-4-4T is finished which I started last year.
  5. Post-free first class and arrived this morning. Excellent service from Squires. The Flatiron will have to wait in the queue though as I've a 1P 0-4-4T on the go from last year.
  6. And it will get around tight curves!
  7. Thanks for the offer Lez but destructions came with it.
  8. Thanks Lez, but I've phoned Squires (very helpful) and they are posting me a chassis etch and a detailing etch for under £30 as both are in stock.
  9. Phoned Squires (SE Finecast) and spoke to very helpful lady who said the etches were in stock and would send them. Well-pleased at less than £30.
  10. I'd leave it like that with the setting sun on it aided by Sahara sand due to a southerly from North Africa.
  11. Having sorted 2 locos, I saw an MR Flatiron part-built on the Bay and won it for £80 plus postage. Markits wheels, Branchlines gearbox and Faulharber motor. On arrival it was found to be badly epoxied together as the body was not square but some boiling water sorted that out. The chassis although ran well on the rollers was banana-shaped with the middle wheels nearly 2mm above the horizontal. I'm going to pick up a new chassis and detailing etch from Squires at the York show.
  12. The Flatiron turned up this morning, so full marks for delivery. The body has been glued and bits are already falling off, so it will have a soak to dismantle it as it wasn't built square in the first place. The chassis is banana-shaped with the middle wheels some 2mm above the track. I don't know how somebody managed to do that. The motor and gearbox are perfectly okay and the wheels are Markits. I'll get the new chassis and the detail fret from Squires when I go to the York show., I assume they sell them separately?
  13. It will be Bachmann's own then. Manufacturer code 101 when you program on the program track. Might be worth have a word with their service dept?
  14. Sorry to hear your 1P is playing up again. Remind me of the decoder. It's no consolation I know, but mine has been faultless - Youchoos Zimo decoder.
  15. Kit-built is Go$turd's default description for all things model railway related.
  16. It is a great buy (no doubt helped by the sniper app). A photo of the new chassis would be great. Thanks.
  17. I don't know what the chassis will be - the photos were rather poor. I may get a new chassis if the one that comes isn't up to scratch. It is a SE Finecast box but still suggests the Tri-ang chassis. I will still be in pocket if I have to get a new chassis though.
  18. Just sniped a part-built Wills Flatiron for £86. Includes Faulhaber motor, Branchlines gearbox and what looks like Markit wheel set. The build looks soldered and good in the photos.
  19. 50% reduction for LA postcodes to May 1st, 20% thereafter until Oct1st.
  20. Your garage is very reminiscent of the Lakeland Motor Museum at Backbarrow we visited on Tuesday with our grandson.
  21. The water was to supply the company's tied houses and cottages along the route with a water supply as they were not on the mains.
