  1. My Yorkshire terrier did. She left them everywhere. sorry couldn’t resist was just reading through the thread when this come up. big james
  2. I’ve done exactly the same. Kept all the articles that relate to my main modelling interests. I donated them all to my work mate I would rather give them to someone then throw them all away. Big James
  3. Not seen it mentioned. Rochester castle as one of the tallest keeps in England so it dominates the sky line. So is visible from strood and Rochester station. Big James
  4. I would be interested in this to. I’m on the look out for inspiration for my next layout. Big James
  5. Excellent service from these guys. Just purchased a hard to find Hornby train pack. It’s turned up swiftly and well packed. Big James
  6. I agree with your there. Although with weathering the N class does scrub up really well. Tbh I don’t really know a lot about diesel classes unless it run on the former SR. But I feel like the U-boat or N class would be a prime candidate. Big James
  7. As an example look the SR majority of the big SR classes are done. With only the U class, Q class and the ex SECR 4-4-0’s (even if the Dapol D class has taken a slice of the pie) left to do in large numbers. Other then that most of the other classes left to do number under 30. Big James
  8. I did have a conservatory layout a few years ago. And as other have said the sun faded everything. It’s a shame to as it allowed me a big layout to. bit james
  9. I would like one to. Wonder where we can get them? Big James
  10. My mojo has really gone for a burton. Everything was going fine. But then my work life has just gotten worse and it’s really effected my head. My mojo has gone and I can’t see it coming back anytime soon. Which is a shame because I was making steady progress and I have a house move on the horizon with a dedicated insulated warm railway shed for me. Sorry if I sound like I’m whining as I don’t normally talk about my mental health. Big James
  11. I really like the new buildings especially the Oast House. But I’m just curious to the prototypes of station buildings? Big James
  12. Fair play. I’ve looked on with envy at some of your diesels. And they look sublime. I might be tempted by one of these as I’ve seen quite a few preserved manors. Might we see a U class afterwards at some point? Big James
  13. If I was starting off as a manufacturer in 00 Gauge I would pick a small industrial maybe a manning wardle 0-6-0ST that would give me multiple liveries to churn out, long lived and pretty much can be justified by most people. My next locomotive would be a small tank engine from one of the big four. I feel like model rails E1 is a good shout so I’ll use it as example. As it’s long lived, had lots of liveries and with little bit history bending could appear anywhere on the former SR. Finally I’d tackle a tender engine. The one I’d pick would the former SR Q class. As it’s inside cylinder so no complicated valve, is complimented by released by Bachmann, Hornby and Kernow. Then I’d start looking further afield. Big James
  14. Today I’m going to finish the groundwork in the goods yard. Big James

I agree with you. But it was the excuse given by Bachmann and Hornby for not doing the U class, because it was similar to the N class already produced by Bachmann. But I feel like we’ve moved on from that and Hornby releasing the S15 has finally put that to bed. big james

After recently servicing majority of most of my SR tender locomotives I had a thought and trawling through this thread no one mentioned it. What about the LSWR H15’s. Long lived, multiple liveries, can be turned out in LSWR colours for the pre-grouping colours, survived to the BR period and there was 26 of them. But what goes against them is none have been preserved and they look quite similar to the n15 (but I don’t think that’s a drawback like it used to be). Big James
  17. My partners birthday is in feb. We’ve made tentative plans with her brother and sister in law to have a game and nibbles night. But we’ve all accepted theirs a very real chance it is not going to happen. This will also be the first time in 10 years that I haven’t gone to centre Parcs for my birthday. We was kicking round the idea of booking it but we decided not to tempt fate. Big James
  18. We’ve also got a tradition that someone gets a gag gift. Last year my mum got a toilet brush. This year my 8 year old niece got Hoover bags for Henry the hoover. Which my sister doesn’t even own. She wasn’t impressed by them. big james
  19. On the run up. I normally watch the top gear Middle East special with a takeaway on my last day off on the run up to Xmas. My dogs get new Christmas jumpers to wear as well. Even if the little one destroys his. big james
  20. Didn’t an LBSCR K class get within an inch of being preserved by the bluebell. But they ha for plough money into saving the line. So they made the difficult choice and the K class went to the great railway in the sky. A K class would be my personal choice to save. As they are one of the best looking moguls to run in the UK. 21. Thank you mate. Today was literally the end of the world. I’ll raise a glass to you as well. I’ve decided that while I’m home alone on Christmas Day. I will be going through the various streaming services to find the worst films I can find and order a takeaway. I’ve already found killer sofa on Amazon prime and the velocipastor on YouTube. Big James
  22. I’m classed as a key worker. Joys of being a team leader Leader in the online distribution section for a major retailer. I haven’t seen my parents, sisters and their children since in august to be safe. But every day I told myself at least I get to see them over Christmas. I have been worked into the ground. But because I was literally doing a 3 day tour to see them all i kept telling it will make it all worth it. But it’s all gone up in smoke now. But I am now facing Christmas Day on my own as my partners working. Due to suffering some minor mental health issues it feels like it’s broke me. I am sorry guys if it feels like I am having a pity party, I just needed to vent as I have to put on a front and pretend I am fine for my family because they are in bits over having not seen me for months. Another thought just occurred to me. With Hornby fetish for the LSWR. What about the LSWR G6. They was long lived, multiple liveries, Hornby has a lot of LSWR stock in it range, survived to the BR period and a large class of 60. But none have been preserved and was limited to the former LSWR. But it would also fill one of the largest gaps in the former LSWR. Big James

I’ll throw my hat in the ring with only 1 suggestion as it’s the only one I have any real knowledge about. The SR Maunsell U class long lived, got everywhere and like the Bulleid Light pacifics could be justified on pretty much any SR layout, multiple liveries, 4 preserved and one of the last maunsell classes in large numbers left to do. Hornby seemed to have mined the maunsell family of locomotives for all its worth. It also scored high repeatedly on the wish list. Big James
  25. I have such fond memories of this one. It was the first one i ever owned. I remember taking it everywhere with me. Till on a hot day I left it in my parents car in Folkestone and what ever they used to bind it melted. big james
