  1. Having never caught 'Caroline' out on the network I initially didn't have much interest in this, but I finally crossed paths with her in York last month along with 37401; After asking very politely I was also allowed to pop my head through the door and have a look inside; It's a lovely bit of kit and all I will say further is I've just secured a sound fitted Bachmann 37401 and have put in a pre-order with Rails for Caroline. I'll be getting both weathered to just like this! Cheers, 60800
  2. Have I committed heresy by only buying one green (D9002), but two blue (D9000, D9009)? To make matters worse, I nearly ordered Tulyar too 😅 Cheers, 60800
  3. Thanks 97406 - It's an interesting comparison between the three bogie types, with even marked differences between the 87 and 90; Cheers, 60800
  4. I've not got a massive amount of knowledge on 86's, so would someone be able to advise me please on what work would need to be done to 86401 to turn it into 86101, bar the obvious rename / renumber? Cheers, 60800
  5. I don't have catenary (yet) but when I do it will just be the stanchions with no wires. This said, the pan does look very robust. Both main arms are sprung, whilst the head pivots in two places - at the junction with the top main arm and then directly on it's mounting on the small horizontal arm at the top. Cheers, 60800
  6. 86401 has arrived and has been added to the stable; A few points to note - very odd moulded buffers. They are not quite round but regardless of this they are the wrong type for 401 in this livery. The orange underframe cabling is very fragile and snaps at the slightest touch. I might re-inforce it from behind with a spare length of brass handrail stock. It also floats at one end so seemingly goes nowhere. Apart from that I'm very impressed with the loco and it's general finish. I think I'd like to get 87002 to go with this lot too. Cheers, 60800
  7. It would doubtless be at an even higher price with an unknown build and decoration quality though. Examples of 91002 have already appeared online and the decoration on it is fantastic. Recent batches of locos that have been good in the past (HST's for example) have been hit and miss with decoration so I'd much rather buy a good 91002 now and modify it than wait and see if Hornby does a poor job of 91119 next year - and as you say that's if they even do it. Cheers, 60800
  8. I had wondered about the Intercity logo. That kind of puts a spanner in the works, unless of course suitably sized replacements become available (I imagine Railtec will do them in time) Still, it remains easier than a repaint. Cheers, 60800
  9. Ah sorry, I should have been more clear. When the 91's were overhauled to 91/1 spec there were extra bodyside grilles added. You can see the extra half-size grille next to the cab door in my shot of 19 here; Cheers, 60800
  10. Thanks, I'd looked there but they only do the underframe grilles sadly. Cheers, 60800
  11. Does anyone know of an available etch for the 91/1 bodyside grilles please? I've looked In the usual places with no joy. I'm wanting to model 91119 in her current IC livery and it would be significantly easier to add the grilles onto IC 91002 than it would be to repaint an LNER 91118. I know they are fairly simple items to knock up from existing etch, but if there is an off-the-shelf option I would much rather buy those. Cheers, 60800
  12. Sounds like a good plan - Mine is a bit of a rule one kind of thing haha Cheers, 60800
  13. I'd rather not try and remove such a big block of colour, but I like the colour the stickers add to it anyway. The GBRF Railfreight 66 has sector stickers so I'm pretty happy to keep them on this 90 too. Cheers, 60800
  14. Thanks, I didn't know that. Pegasus is an awfully short name for such a big loco. I'm not permanently attaching these nameplates, so I could do Pegasus and British Enterprise too. Cheers, 60800
  15. Photos back on now if you want to have another look. I think I will get those logos to put on. Cheers, 60800
  16. In an alternate reality where 60700 was preserved and named; I quite like this as a name for the W1! I was going to have custom 'British Enterprise' nameplates done for 60700 but saw these in Silver Tay's fictitious nameplates list and thought it would have fit well. Cheers, 60800
  17. I've removed the front coupling on my 91111 and fabricated a blank for the skirt. I've also painted over the clear corners of the lights. What an odd thing to forget to paint! Anyway; And the metal nameplates fitted over the frankly horrible printed ones. Spot the mouse! I have a few issues with the buffers on mine and how they sit, but I'll post my findings once they are fixed. Cheers, 60800
  18. Ooh it's back up! Had a trip to York a week ago on Wednesday and well, I caved; I made another trip to Doncaster on Saturday to see an old friend too; Cheers, 60800
  19. Not really off topic, but a little bit of context for the above. There were more photos, but these are the only two I've been able to find in recent years; Cheers, 60800
  20. Green Arrow has a very special place in my heart; First steam loco I saw First loco I saw in steam First steam loco I ever rode behind First mainline steam trip First loco cabbed As you can probably guess, all of these were on the same day; At York and Scarborough on 26/05/2001, at the age of 5. I still have the chunk of coal I was given by the driver at Scarborough! The choice of 60800 vs 4771 when this model was announced was an easy one, though I would still like the other if funds allow. Cheers, 60800
  21. Green Arrow too looks gorgeous. I like it more and more every time I look at it, now... just to sort those pesky rods. Thanks for the pic of yours Coronach Has anybody fitted both sets of cab doors? I can't figure out how to make them not clash, so only have the tender ones fitted. Cheers, 60800
  22. Which browser are you using? I had issues with Google Chrome before this new stuff came in, so i'd suggest trying to use edge, safari or Firefox - I use the latter. Cheers, 60800
  23. Funnily enough a friend of mine called the livery something similar when he asked which I'd ordered and I replied 'the preserved one' Cheers, 60800
  24. Something a little bit different from the norm; I picked up an RFD 90037 with the intention of respraying it into DB red, but with the announcement of DB 90028 and realising 90037 has the wrong buffers and cables on the nose, I decided to keep it as RFD, but add the modern 'Christine' nameplates. I will keep the cabside BR logos, but I'm presently deliberating on applying DB logos on the opposing cabsides. Cheers, 60800
  25. The easy option it would seem is for a PayPal payment option to be added
