There's some good chunky looking buffers on those girls! From looking at that image I might just have to get one ordered 👍 Cheers, 60800 -
@G-BOAF I have to admit I don't know - but they'll be gone on this 91 soon enough haha. I'm also in the process of filling the gap above the bufferbeam as I need to repaint the yellow anyway. Cheers, 60800

If(!) Hornby had painted the headlights and cab window surrounds properly, this is what we would have got with 91002. Kadees look pretty nice on these 91's 😉 Cheers, 60800

@GraemeWatson Have you tried removing the coupling hook from the Mk.IV to just let the loco's hook hold the D loop? Cheers, 60800
-
This is bugging me now haha - I better add it to the list of mods. Looks like Dean Park has beaten us to having all four. I wonder if he's planning on full rakes for each? Cheers, 60800

91002 with some era-appropriate friends this afternoon; @PaulRhB Caistor loco had a perfect 91002 delivered when I was there this morning if you want to give them a ring / fire off a message on bookface. I'm not affiliated beyond being a regular customer but mentioned the issues with these so I checked over the 91's they had; 1 x 91002 and 1 x 91118, both perfect in livery and no dropped bogies. I kind of wish I'd cancelled my Hornby pre-orders and been patient to have those two but there you go haha (I did relieve them of their last IC 90 as above though 😉 ) Cheers, 60800

@XChris @wrex Those GNER 91's look stunning. If only there was one in that livery now, I would have an excuse to get one 😅 Here are my three, 91002 (soon to be 91119 with suitable mods) having arrived today; Cheers, 60800

I've abandoned the idea of trying to create the extra bodyside grilles for 91119 out of etched mesh or plasticard as those on the new Hornby model are just too fine and have too much detail... So with a bit of consideration I've decided it's much easier and much more simple to draw them up and have them printed as decals or on vinyl in Executive Grey. I'll shoot another email to Steve at Railtec once he's replied to my first one and see what he says. Cheers, 60800 Edit: 91002 ordered

Fingers crossed someone will do a decal to sort that - the surrounds are going to be more awkward to paint than the corners

I started Railway photography as a hobby in 2013, so I only ever caught two in blue (excluding 125 in Sky blue); 91119 on 28/04/13 91119 on 07/06/14 119 looked well worn but clean, whereas 118 looked very tired by the time I caught her. Ironically if 119 were not currently in IC livery I would be modelling her as the above. If I do pick up a GNER one, it will have to be done as 132 as she was the first I rode behind. Despite it's age, the photo of 118 above is still one of my favourites and my first successful attempt at panning. Cheers, 60800

Absolutely gorgeous, thanks for sharing her with us. Just waiting to hear back from Railtec on the decals to do 91119 and I'll be getting my order in... Cheers, 60800

Both 91101 and 91110 pushed back to Spring 2023, but 82205 is still listed for Autumn 2022. I wonder if the increased production of the Jubilee Taw Valley has caused this? Anyway, thanks for the heads up as this has cleared up funds for other stuff this year for me 😁 Cheers, 60800

@Dennis2000 The handrails are just a push fit on mine - it should just push back in on yours? Cheers, 60800

Exclusive OO Gauge Class 89 produced by Accurascale
60800 replied to Oliver Rails's topic in Rails of Sheffield
Where would you plan for the LED to be? I guess it would be one of those little flat square ones, so in theory it could be built in to the pan head? I'd imagine someone building an LU based layout may as well just have the rails permanently lit if my experience of the Northern line is anything to go by 😂 Cheers, 60800 -
Oh yes I agree with that The first 91 to be put into Virgin colours was 91124 in February 2015, so there's been plenty of time for the vinyls to fade. Somebody on a Facebook modelling group masked and sprayed a square of matt varnish to replicate the effect on an LNER HST so it might be worth trying on 91118. Cheers, 60800

I only have the first and second release Powercars (both VTEC versions) but a rake each of first and second release Mk.3's. I'll unbox them tonight and take some photos Cheers, 60800

The original photographer's name was hidden as this was leaked during 19's rebuild and was all over FB / twitter - EC Grey (with a lot of filler) and patch paints of red, mainly on the corners and grilles; Cheers, 60800 Disclaimer - If the original photographer does come forward to claim the image and wants it removing I will happily do so. As it stands, this is the only photo 'out in the wild' of a 91/1 in LNER ownership stripped down, hence my sharing of it for educational use.

Sorry but this isn't true - The bodysides are mainly vinyl, just with patch painting of red on corners etc - the locos are still 95% EC Grey underneath. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has the GNER version as to how the numbers and stripe have been applied, as I quite fancy picking up a 91117 and renumbering it to 91132. Cheers, 60800

You'll have a problem finding coach B in LNER as it appears to be sold out everywhere, even with Hornby. Cheers, 60800

Well I've finally fallen foul of the 'Hornby limp' Opened up 91118 which arrived today and the front bogie tower flopped out, just held on by the wires. Marks to Hornby though, the livery application on 118 is perfect, the first time I've had a visually perfect model from Hornby in the last three or so years, so I decided to fix it. I had hoped to modify / detail 118 in the same way as I have 111, but alas that will have to wait as it's taken about two hours to fix and then reassemble the loco this evening. Anyway, photos; The livery application is also nice and flat, so I'm reconsidering picking up another for a repaint into 91119 as very little exterior prep work will be necessary. Does anyone know which sound decoders / projects will work properly with the lights on these please? Cheers, 60800

@drt7uk Much more technical than my approach would have been haha - thankyou for the templates. My project is being delayed slightly as I've just managed to get a Midland Compound (NRM 1000) Would you be able to take a photo of the single with the body off please? I'd like to see how easy / hard it's going to be to modify the chassis to allow the boiler to be made fully round behind the smokebox. Cheers, 60800
