Exclusive OO Gauge Class 89 produced by Accurascale
60800 replied to Oliver Rails's topic in Rails of Sheffield
I think it considerably more likely she'll arrive at the same time as the 31's. I could of course be wrong and the delay of access to her that was mentioned could have just been for the sound project? Cheers, 60800 -

Popped in to Barrow Hill for the first time in a few years to see an old friend. Doesn't she look gorgeous? Cheers, 60800- 471 replies

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale

I'd have a solid rectangular block of plastic as the core for strength, then I'd make each frame / splasher side out of plasticard and glue them onto the block, which would be glued to the underside of the loco body. This discussion is actually making me look at buying one, so I'll document what I do if I do. Cheers, 60800

I'll renumber mine as 34027, put late crests on the tender, weather and sound fit it and then chuck it on eBay and let the mayhem commence 😏 Nah just kidding (only the eBay bit though 😅 ) Cheers, 60800

Long day 😴

Gees that was quick! Extra glad I got my order in now. I wonder what prices this thing will hit the second-hand / collectors market at? Cheers, 60800
-
Not really. If it were announced any earlier then the final scheme would have been given away before the loco appeared. As it stands we've now found out what colour the nameplates are going to be from this announcement. Cheers, 60800

I've decided to go ahead and order - we have until Autumn to wait anyway. Knowing my luck, by the time I've finished dithering and have made my mind up it will be sold out, so I've taken the safe option. Cheers, 60800

Sorry, yes I should have stated that is the Hornby club discount. Cheers, 60800
-
Who knew there would come a day where Hornby gets the colour wrong (or in this instance right to the original spec) and makes their model look better than the real thing? I'm tempted, but even with my club discount it's still £240. Hmm. Cheers, 60800

This and the Midland Spinner are at the top of my list for Steam locos desperate for a 21st century tooling. For me the gap between bogie and running plate is not the biggest issue as some splashers / dummy frames are easy to make - it's the slab sides of the boiler behind the smokebox that have always put me off it. Cheers, 60800

My pre-order for 91118 has just triggered - I'm surprised it's beaten 91002 since that has already shown up in Australia. I'll post some photos when it arrives. Cheers, 60800

I'm surprised no L&Y Aspinalls have been suggested, though I imagine they would be more the realm of Bachmann / Rails. Two things that are sadly desperate for retools are the 76 & 77 - I absolutely adore the real things but I've never been tempted to buy the Heljan / Olivias offerings as they just need too much work and that's before you even consider replacing the pantographs. Cheers, 60800

I had a dream last night that Accurascale announced a class 50. Crazy dream or a sign of things to come? Cheers, 60800
-
Just a shade over £200 from Rails (where I've just put my pre-order in) I got my Caledonian 86401 on the bench last night to fit the nameplates but got distracted by cutting up Thompson coaches - rather fortunately as it turns out as that loco will now become 86101. What a close cut thing haha. Cheers, 60800

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
60800 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Pre-filled nappies? What a silly comment. It's simply because Accurascale is producing a smashing Deltic, many of us would love to see them tackle EE's other two big mainline types, which on wishlisting terms is about as sensible as any of us can get. Cheers, 60800 -

+1 for a Class 40 - trying to model the preserved / mainline capable 40's from the Bachmann tooling is a nightmare - and the only one I have got (40145) has now been repainted 😭 Anyway, the actual point of my comment - with the popularity of Gordon Highlander in purple, is it likely that she will be repeated in that condition? Exclusive OO Gauge Class 89 produced by Accurascale
60800 replied to Oliver Rails's topic in Rails of Sheffield
That's a good enough answer for me! Thanks for asking slyly 😉 I'd just like to state that my frustration is in no way directed at Accurascale as their hands are (mostly) tied in the matter. It's Rails' approach to the 89 of it being an EOI, when other one-offs were greenlighted from the start and didn't take too long to arrive, or the amount of successive one-offs and exclusives that have been announced with the 89 still left in that EOI stage in a place that frankly is difficult to find on Rails' website last I checked. I would like to have two of her, in both current livery and GNER (when I first saw her at Doncaster in 2003) but the temptation to get just the current IC sound fitted is too great. Cheers, 60800 -

No news today on the 89 sadly. Hopefully we will see something soon, but it's starting to get annoying with the amount of new exclusives that have been announced or have come and gone whilst the 89 sits in development purgatory. Cheers, 60800 -
Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
60800 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Look gorgeous doesn't she. Alycidon is the only Deltic I've seen out on the mainline, so I'm torn between keeping the model as is or modifying it to how she is now (excluding the bogies) Cheers, 60800 -

Those who wanted different bogies to model Alycidon in her current condition will now also need to repaint the buffers and bufferbeam red and renumber their models too - she has just had D9009 scrubbed in favour of new 55009 decals prior to her arrival at the GCR. Cheers, 60800
