  1. Since I have added works plates to the cabsides purely to break up that large open area, can anyone please tell me where her works plates were fitted? I know the Commonwealth A4's had them fitted inside the cabs so I wonder if 60700 was the same? What is also nice to see is I'm not the only person to have fitted nameplates to a W1 - I've had replies to my post in a group on there of 60700 late crest with Pegasus nameplates and an Apple Green 'as built' as 10007 Temeraire. Both look very smart. Cheers, 60800
  2. Thanks 🙂 They sit level but they are extremely stiff and don't turn unless pushed. I've only fitted them for photos anyway and they will be swapped back for running. Cheers, 60800
  3. Purists beware, rule 1 modelling incoming! - It's well known that if Billy Butlin and Alan Pegler would have had their way, Silver Link and Papyrus would have survived, but potentially with the loss of Scotsman and one of the Duchesses, but who knows? Anyway, imagine if in 1959 someone had stepped in and saved the unique W1 60700? As a bit of an impulse buy and being a modern image / preservation era modeller I've used this as an excuse to have this engine and I imagine she would be a mainline runner and possibly would be named; Contrary to what I said above before, the smokebox boiler band has been notched on both sides to accept the nameplates which have been permanently fitted. You'll notice other improvements such as painted cab spectacle plates and other areas picked out with brass and silver paint. I've also removed the rubbish hook that was supplied and have replaced it with the spare Accurascale hook and screw from 55022. Cheers, WV908
  4. 69002 and 69005 at Rail Live today. I'm not a huge fan of the full yellow ends on 002, but 005 looks stunning. It will be interesting to see which members of the class Bachmann chooses to produce, because I would love to have a model of 69005. Cheers, 60800
  5. I clicked the link and money magically flew out of my account 🤪 The wonders of the internet eh 😉 I had been on the fence about this one, but I do need something to couple up to Alycidon as a brake force runner 😇 Cheers, 60800
  6. I don't have any SLW locos sadly, as I refuse to spend my money with them, so I can only go off my own experience. My Bachmann 24 and 25 are good enough for me. The Dapol Western had issues with the lights and trying to fit headcodes (which is why I sold mine on) but I still attest it is visually very impressive. If the Bachmann 90 didn't have that awful grindy pantograph mechanism I would like it a lot better, but it is still an easy second to the new Deltic. Cheers, 60800
  7. @Accurascale Fran I note that RSG is supplied with separate etched crests. Did she wear them in this condition? It's very hard to tell from the photos on the web of the Deltic Scotsman farewell. As it is, I've left them off for now. Cheers, 60800
  8. It's the sliver Tay one (I was too much a cheapskate to fork out for the fox one, although they do have a few nice Deltic themed headboards that would go nicely on Alycidon and Tulyar) Cheers, 60800
  9. I noticed quite late on that it was missing - I found it sandwiched between two corners of the plastic insert, so it might be worth you having another look in the box 🙂 Cheers, 60800
  10. Shy of a sound decoder, that's D9000 with faults repaired / rectified and ready for service; The Bachmann model always looked tall and unsteady to me. This looks as heavy as it feels. A few little oddities that had to be fixed, but nothing major and nothing that I haven't come across before apart from with the chains (a first for RTR? Or were the chains on the Rapido Single real? I know they were fake on the Bachmann Atlantic). I'm not sure if the ends attaching to the body were crimped or crushed, but I removed the final link on the two detached chains to give new material to work with. I'm a bit concerned with the paint finish in areas, specifically with detail parts and the roof fan grilles as the paint chips away very easily. I had a blemish on one nameplate so that was patch painted (humbrol gloss 19 was a perfect match) and I've masked the nose and ran a slither of blue paint (humbrol garter blue of all things) around the lip of the nose hatches on no.2 end as there was a slight paint bleed, but i'd like to stress the above point again that these are very minor things which are impossible to avoid in such a huge production run and they are things I've found and fixed with various Bachmann and Hornby models before. Away from me nit-picking, the bufferbeam detail is the best I have ever seen - in terms of paint finish, hose thickness, the ability to unscrew the bufferbeam... Just fantastic. The presence of the loco and the detail and visual weight of the bogies is again unmatched, as is the detail on the fuel tanks. The way that the couplings attach is superb - one was a little stiff to remove, so I've chosen that as the non-detailed end. The etched plates are rather handily about 0.2mm larger than the printed plates, which gave a nice little bit of allowance when fitting those. In my view the only RTR locos that come close to this are the Bachmann 90 and Dapol Western, but both have flaws worse than anything I have mentioned here. From what we've seen of the 92 and 37 so far I think they will be even better. Cheers, 60800
  11. D9000 has landed - and well, what a step up from the old model! I would like to say she is perfect, but there are a few issues. There are a lot of specs of black paint in the box that have fallen off detail parts, two of the chains have detached (one is broken but can be fixed), part of the fuel tank detail was in the bottom of the box and sadly one of the headboard brackets has sheared off; Fixing these are well within my modelling skills, so I will be keeping my RSG, but I feel that for the most part the packaging is at fault. Whilst the current end-clipped clear plastic inserts are streets ahead of the old poly trays, it is the clipped end that had the sheared off bracket and it looks to me as if the chains have been squeezed in the box. I do also have a bent horn (no laughing in the back) and one of the fuel tank pipes needs some adjustment, but the level of detail....wow. Now, the rest of the box is fantastic but I think this end-clipped clear insert needs to be revised, not just by Accurascale but across the board as I've recently had Hornby and Bachmann locos that have been damaged or have had rubbed paint at the clip end. I feel that Heljan, Dapol and Rapido have made their versions better, but this is only my opinion. With regards to the loco, it's detail, build quality and finish are fantastic for the price. Yes, the central roof insert paint demarcation is a little fuzzy and the cab window etches aren't a perfect fit, but we've already seen an improvement on this with the class 37 samples, so I think the Deltic is a very good first step into the mainland UK loco market for Accurascale, especially given what is currently being produced by the red box company at substantially higher prices. I can't wait for my other three to arrive, Cheers, 60800
  12. You won't believe how happy I am to hear that 😀 Part of the reason I didn't order KOYLI or Alicidon with sound was that I wanted to be able to have the same project in all four, so this is great news. Cheers, 60800
  13. To make sure I could get the most Deltics from my budget I didn't order any of them sound fitted (in fact I didn't have the choice with RSG). Could anyone recommend for me please a good sound project and best sound decoder that will work properly with the lights please? I'd like to get at least one of them sound fitted fairly sharpish now that all four are paid off. Cheers, 60800 Edit: Unless the chance comes up to order the Purple peril then my money will be going that way haha
  14. RSG is ready to collect and I'm just sat at work waiting for the next two and a half hours to go by as fast as possible 🤣 😭 Cheers, 60800
  15. I ordered an A4 tender off eBay which was delivered by one of the well known 'couriers' yesterday. I requested it be left by my patio door and had deliberately left the gate unlocked. The delivery photo was taken through my fence and the parcel was nowhere near the patio door. I'm glad the sender had packed it well as I can only surmise it had been frisbeed over my fence 😒 I'd just like to state the courier was not DHL. Cheers, 60800
  16. Thanks for the tip - the actual depot is in Rotherham (a bit far from Scunthorpe) but the drop off location I've picked is closer to work than it is to home and they'll keep it for a week if need be. I know where I'll be going in my lunch hour if it arrives in the morning haha. Cheers, 60800
  17. I didn't know you could deliberately divert a DHL package to the local hub - mine is a 2 minute walk from my work and I won't be home tomorrow so if I can switch it to that in the morning it would be perfect. As can probably be guessed from the above, I got my postage notification for D9000 this afternoon. Cheers, 60800 EDIT: As per usual trying to do it on a mobile device gave no joy. On my PC? Rearranged at the click of my fingers.
  18. If it's a touch-up of pipework (which is what it certainly looks like) then it will be on top of the varnish coat on the body, which means it should come off with a quick polish and not leave any damage. I know it's up to the individual, but this is what I'd do rather than go through the whole returns process. Cheers, 60800
  19. I would love to see Europhoenix 37901 in the next batch if the tooling has been done to accomodate 901-904. Seeing the videos of her test run today is making me want to have a sound fitted model of her. Interesting about the developments with the 37/0 and delay to Feb '23 - It's given me scope to order another 🤣 Cheers, 60800
  20. This is my 91119 so far. Currently working on the area of the nose above the bufferbeam, where Hornby oddly left the chassis sticking out. Chassis filed back and insert added, which is in the process of being blended into the body. The roof has has the 91/1 details added and has already been painted, the windscreen wipers have been modified to current type and the yellow warning panel on the nose has been painted after filling in the tdm hatches. Transfers with correct undersized Intercity branding already sat waiting; Done by precision transfers, including the 91/1 bodyside grilles which will be mounted on very thin plasticard before being attached to the loco. What was that about invalidating warranties? 😅 Cheers, 60800
  21. I'm sure I read a story on here once of a train that ended up with four 31's on it (top and tailed) due to three failures. I'd quite like to find that story again, if I've remembered it correctly. Cheers, 60800
  22. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but only one of the payments for my two Deltics through Rails processed (both using PayPal, both ordered within a day). A quick phone call sorted this out and I'm all paid up ready for mine to arrive. Cheers, 60800
  23. I'm hoping that the second run will have 55019 as currently running, Gordon in TTG with Wipacs, RSG in TTG with headlights circa 1999 and 55008 in Blue. Cheers, 60800
  24. Maybe next time for the A4's. A solid choice of rolling stock by Accurascale though. Cheers, 60800
  25. Despite me having ordered D9002 and D9009 from Rails at the same time (in the same order) so far I've only been billed for one, which is a little odd. Cheers, 60800
