  1. It's Monday; can I order my A4's now? 😛😇 Cheers, 60800
  2. What re-engineering or design change would have required a 55/1 designation? 🙂 I think had the DP2 design gone into production that it would have been a new class? Cheers, 60800
  3. @Dominion Is there any chance you'd be able to re-post them for the rest of us please? 🙂 Cheers, 60800
  4. Hi Gary, this one was made out of spares - the only thing I had to buy was a loco body. It's mostly current tool Hornby, but the tender top was from a GBL Flying Scotsman, with wire handrails added. Since the new body I bought was valanced, I had to cut away the valances and scratchbuild the details underneath and the smokebox access hatches. If you wanted to do it directly from a Hornby model though, something like 60029 which turns up on eBay fairly frequently would suit 🙂 No-one does the correct '9' in that Yellow, so ones I fitted are the closest I could get. Cheers, 60800
  5. I wish you were right, but the A1/3 has only been upgraded with flickering firebox and a new running board casting (as the old moulding was completely worn out) - The streamlined nose W1 has less detail than the old A4 and the same lower shape issues, so even if Hornby did do a new A4 it would be no better in any of the fields I have mentioned and would easily be £40-£50 more than any Accurascale offering - just look at the projected prices for the new P2 or second run W1 for example and you'll see why I think this is a good idea. Cheers, 60800
  6. A little bit left field due to a certain manufacturer having always had a monopoly on the class, but; An A4 Pacific. The Hornby model has plenty of accuracy and detail shortcomings, especially around the front end and specifically the cylinders. Given that manufacturer's recent colossal price hikes and a number of variants that have not been done for at least a decade, I reckon Accurascale could be on to a winner. Imagine this for a first run; Silver Link in *as built* condition with straight handrails, recessed front coupling and faired in tender Silver Fox in single chimney, early crest BR green as per the Elizabethan Mallard in British Railways Garter Blue as E22 Sir Nigel and Bittern in LNER Garter blue with no valances as running in the 1960's 4489 as Woodcock in photo grey / apple green Union of South Africa in full coronation fitment Kingfisher in final condition All the above (and many more) have never been done by Hornby (and only two were done by Bachmann). Coronation livery has never been done properly. The modern fitments on the preserved locos and things like like the brake pipes running down the left hand running board and brake cylinders under the leading driver etc have never been done. The valve gear has never been done accurately and we've never had cylinders or bufferbeam streamlining that correctly cuts under (which I know is not achievable in RTR for valanced locos without having alternate bits to swap out). It's an open goal for Accurascale if you ask me. Cheers, 60800
  7. Wild speculation hmm? Pic unrelated 😉 Joking aside, I'd like to see another steam entry in the form of an L&Y Aspinall A class or Barton-Wright class 25. The latter could also lead on to a class 23 and there just happens to be one of each mentioned classes preserved. Cheers, 60800
  8. For comparison I just picked up Silver Tay's thistle, modelled here on DP1 as I shifted my last normal Bachmann Deltic the other week; Cheers, 60800
  9. I was hoping to see this magic title today; Rapido Stirling Single Second Run Alas, my wallet is safe for now 🤣 Cheers, 60800
  10. Ship or Boat, as long as it floats, is heading in this general direction and doesn't have Evergreen painted on the side, you can call it what you like for me 😛
  11. Well that's a thistle headboard ordered for D9002. Let's see if it gets here before the locos do 😁 Cheers, 60800
  12. I'd rather see a confirmation on the 89 before anything else gets announced to be honest. I know Accurascale's hands are tied with that though. This wait for the Deltics has convinced me to sell a few unused locos and put in an order for 55015 with the DPS, so that's four on the way now for me (2,9,15 & 22) Cheers, 60800
  13. Sadly I have to admit one of those 47 on the hopeful list for the purple peril is me. When a few extra of that and D9000 were added to stock I had to choose and stayed true, but if it were to appear again I would snap it up (providing of course it doesn't clash with a certain AC Electric 😉 ) Cheers, 60800
  14. If you really want one I think it's just a case of poking around model shops that don't have a major online presence. I picked up Bachmann's 37025 and 37099 brand new below list price early last year when they were sold out everywhere, and I got lucky a week ago with a brand new IC 90 from a shop at original list price; It's interesting to see that this model is worth a lot as 90005, but any that have been renumbered or repainted don't hit original list price on eBay. This hobby continues to baffle me to the point where I'm almost reconsidering renumbering it to 90001 Royal Scot. Cheers, 60800
  15. I caught her mainline in green twice - both times in use as York Station pilot. The first was for a tour with 46233, the second was on the Azuma press day; As you say, sadly only running on one engine on both occasions. Cheers, 60800
  16. @sanspareil I've found that my 91's are very heavy on the outer axles but very light on the inners. I might look at adding some weight to the bogies to counter this and I'll also be modifying the dampers as they clash on all three of mine. Yes the inner lead window frame on the IC and LNER versions should be black - I'm not sure about the GNER one though. I've painted this on my 91002, but this image also shows up another huge issue in that the body does not run all the way down to the bufferbeam as it is cut to work around the chassis. I'm presently modifying this on my 91002 as the front end yellow is going to be repainted anyway as part of the process to turn it into 91119; Depending on what period you wish to model, you might want to leave the headlight covers clear as 91002 is supplied with them 'as built', but by the time she was named they had been modified to the above. Cheers, 60800
  17. I remember some years ago there was even an official response about it. The really funny thing was that they used to supply a little profile drawing on the back of the window card in the box along with a bit of info on the class - The drawing was near enough right and you could put it next to the loco and see the difference in the nose. Besides DP1, the only Bachmann Deltic I've kept is my D9008 for sentimental reasons, but I think she'll need the Shawplan treatment to look good next to these. Cheers, 60800
  18. Mine has taken a good battering so far this year and there's still more to come, including no less than five Accurascale locos (six if the 89 hits pre-order stage soon 🤪) and a number of Rapido items. Cheers, 60800
  19. @Accurascale Fran Mid 2023 is even better as I might just be able to sneak a sound fitted one - thanks 😁 Cheers, 60800
  20. @Accurascale Fran The flyer says mid-2022 for 37714 by the info below in the link says 2023. What's the estimated delivery for her please? Cheers, 60800
  21. 229 looks good - how much work did she have? I want to add the lazerglaze to mine at the bare minimum. I have 3x37 and 3x47 which all need work. Cheers, 60800.
  22. Aye haha - sadly though 901 is sold out. Cheers, 60800
  23. Well hung tractor? Have I been living under a rock or something? 😂 I can almost guarantee you will get at least one email from a customer kicking off about the nose yellow on 608 thinking it's a QC / manufacturing issue. I am now massively regretting not shifting my Vitrains 97 pair to get 97301. Ah well, can't have everything. Cheers, 60800
  24. @47606odin Yeah someone pointed this out on Facebook too, but then it was also noted that 91002 was not named until 1993 so the model is still wrong sadly, but right for as built. Mine is on the slow road to becoming 91119 so they needed painting. Cheers, 60800
